CAN/USA taxpayers
This is the first year that I use your product and have just finished my CAN taxes, next I will do my USA taxes. I live in Canada, but still have some investments in the US and I found the questionnaire a bit confusing as to where I should put this information. I know there are many CAN/USA taxpayers that could benefit from a program that could do both returns.

Great for spouses
I like using turbo tax mostly because of the optimizers for pension splitting; medical expenses and charitable donations: quickly determines optimum amounts to declare / split between spouses.

Quick and easy

Helpful Feature
I'm getting a refund this year but my spouse owes some taxes. It would be nice if I could post my refund against my spouses' balance owing and only pay the net difference. The is due to pension income splitting with proportional tax allocation. This is a great program but there's always room for improvement!

Premier Lacking Definitions and help
I sold a rental property and had to report it this year but I found TurboTax Premier was lacking in definitions for many of the boxes you were asked to fill in. When I used the help feature, the definitions were not clear and assumed that you were already acquainted with the tax terminology and knew exactly what was to be entered. Many of the capital gains questions could not be answered or found in the help section even online.

Script errors
I was very disappointed that this year Turbo Tax was not fully compatible with a Mac Computer running Parallels and Windows 7.
I got a script error with every page and did not have the ongoing summary on screen to the upper right.
Otherwise it work well

User Friendly Tax Software
User friendly, and for the most part, instructions are clear. Ability to autofill from CRA online My Account simplifies things greatly. Would be improved if subsequent downloads did not erase changes made to already downloaded info. Best to wait until after April 1 to autofill so all tax slips are downloaded at the same time. Need to pay attention to slips relating to joint accounts, since they may be in either spouses name, and need to make sure each is changed to 50% share. TurboTax could improve by having dropdown box to allow you to choose a 50% option. Better explanation of options for carryback/forward use of capital losses could be provide (CRA has multiple year summary of capital gain/loss record thru My Account which is helpful). Would also like to see TurboTax automatically save latest changes, so do not have to remember to save each time. If your computer shuts down before have a chance to save, all changes from that session will be lost. Overall very useable software. Have been using for 8 years.

PREMIER VS STANDARD
Thought that I would try the premier edition this time and found it was the same as the standard edition. I expected it would be easier to quantify capital gains somehow,but no difference.

Easy to follow
Turbotax is easy to follow from beginning to end. It is well laid out, step by step, and is easy to use. I recommend using Turbotax for anyone from the simplest of returns to the small business person.

Not s convenient as in prior yeas
I found the program not as easy to use as it has been in previous years. It is fast, concise and complete. I wanted to netfile each of my wife's and my own tax returns seperatly, but the program wouldn't do that. somewaht annoying

2016 TURBO DELX
1ST year with premier (5yrs of standard) couldn't really find the difference. still do not understand the capital gains & listing all transactions. Net filing was easy.

Intuit should be more Up-Front!
Store (Walmart) should not sell you a "Standard" when you need a "Premier" for a simple senior couple return.
Offer a better copy for us at a discount, that will apply to 90% of all seniors. Not happy that I had to upgrade and pay more money partway through my return. Next year I will check around for an alternative program.

Ease of Use
Ease of Use is hindered by the lack of the user's (my) understanding of how the system/program is composed (i.e. hangs together). I had to call numerous times to learn what and when I was to enter in the boxes. The ease of use is greatly enhanced by the facility to go back to steps along the way and make changes/corrections. TurboTax is further enhanced by the good and friendly support of staff on the phone.
I would not hesitate to recommend TurboTax with the above warnings and notes.

Easy - But
I have used Turbo/Quick tax since 1999 and every year it gets easier. The cost is not an issue but cheaper would be better. My main concern is that this great software hides the complexity of our tax system. I guess that means I trust Intuit more than my government; interesting.

The easy step prcess is very good and works you all the way thru based on what you selection. Only thing negative is the "back" button does not seem to work as well as it should be and in T5 and T3 some rows are on the next page and the back and forth is cumbersome.

Minor Issues
I have used Turbo Tax for years and am happy with the process. However this year there were a few minor issues that were awkward. First, the copy of Turbo Tax downloaded directed from the disc wouldn't work on my computer. (The same computer I've used for several years.) When I acquired the program directly from the net, you advised me I needed other software and directed me to load it. Why didn't downloading directly from the disc also do this? When trying to claim charitable donations I clicked on line 349 of Schedule 1. Instead of directing me to the correct form, Turbo Tax just claimed I could not do this. It took awhile to find the correct location to input this information. Why the runaround?

A Very Useful Software
In spite of two small glitches in the 2016 Premier version of the Turbo Tax software I used, I enjoyed working with it and found it very user-friendly and useful. I also found the technical support staff very nice, professional and helpful. Congratulations Turbo Tax, I look forward to using you again next year!
The small glitches (which were resolved timely) were two pop out windows, one named "Turbo Tax Registration," which would come up on my computer screen all the times when I would start working with the software; the second pop out window came up when I was installing the software on my computer, and would read: "An error has occurred in the script of this page, automation server can't create object."

Medical Claims File
I had problem with entering several claims on my medical expense file. reason was that software had inserted start date in 2015 which means that you did not have all of 2016 dates to claim. It took phone call to Intuit expert to figure out what the problem was. If you have problem inserting all of medical expenses, check top of medical expense worksheet to see what start date is for worksheet. You only get 12 months from that start date.
