Help Needs Refining
It would be much easier to use if when you clicked on the "Help" icon, the file would open to the page you're working on and not force you to manually enter a search term.

Student Tuition Transfer
I have worked in a tax office for 8 years so I have the knowledge to complete various types of tax returns. For the most part turbotax is very easy to use except I just completed returns of a student transferring tuition to a parent. On the student's return the program didn't trigger a screen or ask if or how much do you want to transfer. I knew where & what to put because I've done it before but someone else may not. Then on the parent's return I had to go into forms & find the location that way. If I remember correctly this was easier to go through last year. This needs to be fixed for those that don't have an accounting background. This would cause the student to carry forward & use amounts that were used by the parent which would cause a large payback if the returns were pulled for review.

A Good Choice

Good (but could be better)
Like previous years, TurboTax is helpful and generally easy to use. However the ability to get context help could be better or more consistent. Sometimes you can click on terms for help, other times you can't and need to rely on the forums (mediocre) or google.

Good Software
I have used TurboTax for many years. I especially like the carry forward ability that eliminates the need to go through last year(s) return. Also, the T-Slip fill in makes the entry of information easy and relatively quick.

User friendly and easy to use
That was a very good experienced working with Turbotax software. Easy to use and user friendly. For me as new immigrant it was a very good experienced to file my tax data with this software.

Easy To Use
Easy to use, but Intuit should provide a free spreadsheet to enter receipts in the right order of entry and correct date formats to ease entry into the tool. This way we can be ready to enter the data once tax season arrives. An upload to the system from that would even be better.

Premier vs Regular??
I've been using the regular version for years and this year went with the Premier version as I have some non-registered investments. I was expecting the Premier version to give me much more guided support to understanding and claiming capital gains and losses. It didn't. The extra money for the upgraded version was not worth it. The next time I have non-registered investments I'll use a human tax return service so that I can better understand the process and options.

I had a question re tax loss carry over. I couldn't reach a live person to ask why my stock losses from previous years were not automatically carried forward as in previous years. How do you access a real person?

I completed my 2016 Tax Return But the system wouldn't let me Netfile it. About 4 days later I had to uninstall the Turbo Tax file and reinstall it again. Once I did that it was easy sailing.
I would still recommend this program because cliches are few and far between.

Easy to use
I am overall satisfied with Turbo Tax Premier 2016 except that I couldn't import my Quicken Info into my tax return. The main reason I purchased this product was to be able to input my stock trades to Quicken during the year and easily import the information to my return. I was not thrilled to manually input all my trades to my return.

Turbo Tax Premier
Quick and easy but that may be because I have been using it for years and only process relatively simple returns. But years ago when I used it in an office environment with more complex tax situations it produced quick and accurate results. These days using this copy of Premier there are inexperienced people doing their own returns with only minimal guidance regarding the procedures for entering information and printing.

Minor adjustment needed
The Easy Step method does not provide for applying part of the RRSP contributions to a subsequent tax year. I had to do this in the Forms section.
Optimization appears to operate separately for each of RRSP, Pension Splitting and Charitable Donations. Since Pensin Splitting cannot be carried forward to subsequent years this should be maximized first and then Charitable Donations which can only be partly carried forward if there will be space below $1,000 in the following year. Medical Expenses are similar. RRSP contributions being able to be carried forward should be optimized last.

Was very disappointed with this form we needed space for eight stocks not just 3. Also the cost should be forwarded from previous year. Also the income from these entries could be added by the software and entered on the first page of form T1135

getting more complicated as yrs go by
sometimes i would to copy a page and u don t allow that feature
once u have completed a return if u want to go back and see what your trillium benefit is there should be a one key entry to see it instead of going through the summary process

Issue with rental and farm summary. TurboTax during it's check for netfile identifies the farm address as incorrect. No matter what address is put in (including my personal address) the error continues). This has been in the turbotax premier since quicktax was converted to turbotax. Please fix. A escalation was placed.

Great but not good if you've got O/seas rentals
This software is overall a great tool if you have a straight forward Canadian return or if you have regular income or share investment income from overseas. If however, you have rental property overseas and you pay tax in that country then this software is very difficult to use. You have to enter the rental property details with a weird address with the Canadian province and postal code and you have to override the forms to put the foreign tax on rental property which means you can't then Netfile. The problem has been in the software for a few years it seems but still not fixed.

Saves time, has minor flaws
Everything was easy and straightforward except the charitable donations page. For for foreign donations, it asks the user to manually input foreign income and taxes, yet this information was already entered, so the software could calculate it automatically.
