Mid way through the process it was recommended that the Standard program should be upgraded to the premier with some added complexity in our return. Wasn't impressed to have to reload the initial data rather than have it stream automatically into the upgraded program. Otherwise it s easy to follow and use.

Solid Tax Program
I generally like Turbo Tax and believe it to be accurate. I do find that it is not user friendly in moving from easy step to forms. It also could be improved in getting to specific areas that you want to consider, to look at alternatives or find a specific worksheet.

software issues
I have been buying the "Standard" TT pkg which has ALWAYS included basic Investment & Rental Income software. I will reconsider buying TT if you remove these calculations from your Std pkg & force me to upgrade to Premium. Note that my pkg was upgraded to Premium free of charge due to a software problem with the Investment portion of the Standard. "Premium" did not give me access to anything more that I needed than what Standard has done in the past.

T slips
Suggest that all the T screens to have the option to split with the spouse rather than having to enter each slip twice (50% on each spouse).
The T5 screen already has this option.

works well
The one problem that I has was with the medical claim optimizer. I changed to settings a bit to see if I could possibly save some medical until next year without effecting my refund. As a result my refund dropped by over $100. When I went back to return the settings of the optimizer it would not return the lost refund. I clicked the dot to give myself all the medical and then hit continue but it automatically sent it back to my wife. I went to the form and double clicked my wife's medical to reduce it. But it went back again. I gave up;

Good Product
Good product. I am not too sure though about purchasing the pro review. The person was extremely friendly but I thought I was paying for a review that was line by line through my return. They went over a few areas on mine, jumping around a fair amount, and said they were having trouble seeing the screen. They made one recommendation. I am hoping for what it cost that everything else was truly okay. I would definitely recommend Turbo Tax to others and purchase again but I don't think I would pay for the extras offered.

Overall Happy
Had only one glitch this year. I couldn't do my spouse and my return together because the program would not calculate the medical claim on my return, it automatically claimed on my husband's, who has no income.

Overall easy to use but lacking in splitting stock gains and losses by spouse (would like to be able to assign a % to each spouse similar to how the allocation for charitable donations work).

Big Improvement From Years Past
Turbo Tax has definitely immensely improved the ability to navigate through the different tax areas from years past however I still think there is room to do better. I often find I am clicking through unnecessary screens because I needed to change one thing.
However overall this is still a fantastic product that allows me to file my returns without an accountant which would cost big $$$. It's great for rental income returns. Will definitely get next years version as well.

Lacks a bit
Turbo tax did not have all of the forms that I required. It lacked the TFSA overpayment forms.
Turbo Tax was easy for entering joint investment income but was not similarly easy for entering joint capital gains (stock transactions) data.
After using for multiple years it does make carry forwards from previous years easy.

Meh
I use this every year. I like that NETfILE lets you just do it automatically from turbo tax and that you don't have to log onto CRA's website. Only thing I don;t like is that I NETFILED it, got my confirmation number, and then Turbo Tax made me go to that page again and say i needed to NETFILE my return. If it's done it should be done from taht page, not amke me click that "im done filing' even though right above that option in same clicking row it says it was netfiled with my confirmation number. made me second guess myself that it was too easy and if i netfiled aleady, why is it telling me to NETFile my return

In past 10 years I have used the same software for the tax return preparation. The software, if using easy steps, allows the beginners to follow interview style steps and get the job done. It is however not intuitive to understand the splits of income or expenses between spouses. The payment owing to CRA is not as obvious as last year, it caused me some confusion - I needed to click open My Payment in another site to make payment, and it is very difficult if banks set transfer ceilings (maximum amount that you can pay through the bank to CRA). I had to give up and used online banking.

file????
everything went well with my oneline tax return. Except when I wanted to actually FILE my return....just couldn't get it to FILE or send or anything...extremely frusterating...leaving me to call...which the idea is to file on line not phone in and wait on the phone lines....ahhh

Needs a Mac version
Although I really like Turbo Tax and have used it for several years, I am not sure if I will be able to in the future, because I will probably no longer have a Windows machine. Currently Turbo Tax is not supported on Apple Mac. This is going to be a problem in the future, so I hope you are working hard on producing a Mac version of this.

Good but rental income needs work
The software worked great for my parents, but I have two rental properties with my wife and it took a lot of work to get everything to match up. There should be an option to indicate that the spouse owns the other half of the partnership which would then fill in all the details of other owner and match the rental amounts perfectly. At the moment it just takes a lot of management to get it to work.

I think Turbo is simple to use but I do 2 returns. Perhaps they could charge by the number of returns. I need the premium package because of capital gains. I understand there is some type of rebate this year, how do I get that applied for 2015

Turbo Tax Premier

No real improvements
I use the product year over year but there aren't really any meaningful improvements. Most people's tax situations don't change much. Can the product default that I haven't been to prison etc.. so I don't have to click on it.
