This program saves a lot of time and because of its accuracy, the tax department have less reason to adjust the return because of personal errors.

Making it Simple
This is an improved product, and significantly. Took me half the time it did in the past. One recommendation is to continue to decipher the GoC and provincial text and rules to make it easier for the common Canadian to understand the statements. It is getting better, much better, but at times it can get even better. Avoid the double and triple negatives please.

Standard form(s) should include investment form(s)
No need to buy premier level just to penalize average tax filer, hundreds or thousands or more, Canadians that have investments. premium paxckage 100% more expensive just to cover average perso's investments.

Advanced preparer
The product could be better with a few improvements for those who prepare several tax returns of various complexity. The capital gain piece requires you to enter the same transactions twice for husband and wife who split investment accounts. Forcing people through the same intro for each return is frustrating. Otherwise a good product.

Good - as usual
Another good experience.
Very easy to use.
Took advantage of a Tax Savings opportunity I wouldn't have considered :) -Could have been more helpful with a how-to explanation and examples, still not sure what was suggested is proper in my situation.

Old School
I guess due to my age I find that I miss certain things in this version of Turbo Tax that I had before. I had to get use to this version because it is not quite the same as last years. I was able to figure out all my questions but it took a while. Before there was a search ability if you had a question and you could find out where you would go to find the correct form or line for the item you were looking for. For example to figure out where you put the amount you paid for a safety deposit box. You could type in safety deposit box and it would tell you what line which in turn told you what form to go to. I use the easy step system but it did not ask that question.

One big issue
You REALLY need to have an option to print only the pages on which information is reported. We file 3 tax returns and they're all simple and basic, so we don't need to print 30+ pages for our file records!

I did have problems with this, but then doing tax forms is one of my least favorite things. I had to refile due to technical issues, but got it done!

Excellent value
Once I got used to navigating around the program, I found it quite easy to use. At least for my return which was not all that complicated and included rental income. My only concern was that in the expenses section of the rental income statement, "other expenses" should be expandable because some expenses might be different in terms of personal use portion from other expenses that could be included in that category. The program assumes that all "other expenses" are equal in terms of "personal portion" percentage. This might not be so.

difficult to read pale blue print
I have great difficulty reading the pale blue print on the while background. Even when I adjust the contrast it is very hard to read.

Optimizer is helpful
Easy to use. I like the step by step guide in entering information. Turbo Tax optimized splitting deductions with my spouse to reduce our combined taxes.
However, it would help if Turbo Tax allowed splitting of capital gains and losses with my spouse on a shared investment account. Currently I have to calculate the split in Excel and enter them manually into Turbo Tax.

Good product basic is adequate
I have had investments for years, and I have always used the basic product. The website recommended that I use the premier edition, which I purchased, but with just share purchase/sale activity the premier version didn't give me anything more than the basic version provided.

Just Try it
There is nothing to fear in using this software. You really can't go wrong. But I would do File, Save As before the end, in case you erase by mistake. You can start and stop anytime and go back to it on a later date easily.
They don't put too much to read on one screen, so you won't miss things.
For couples, it does a good job of optimizing and you don't have to worry who claims what. Just follow it's advice as you go.
Take the plunge, Enjoy !!

Good product
Been using this for years and really like it. My one complaint is capital gains/losses carry back. I wish the numbers were in the program to carry forward so I don't have to dig out old tax returns every year.

Pretty good, though tricky for northern residents
Overall this is a pretty good software. Most menu interfaces were easy to use and navigate. However, I found the following bugs:
-Going back and changing rental income properties as partnerships is a nuisance. We ended up having to delete the property and start again.
-Using the Capital Cost Allowance option is not great. The only option available is to use the whole CCA. It would be better if the program let us override the max value to something lower. Without any control over this it is impossible to target a specific tax bracket for instance.
-Northern travel allowance isn't understood by the programmers. All the information can be entered but it is up to the user to understand the rules and do the calculations. The program doesn't help at all.
Overall this program was the best I've used yet, but these bugs are a bit of a nuisance and not being able to adjust my CCA could be a bigger deal depending on the circumstances.

Good Software But
I have been using the software a long time and it just keeps getting better and easier to use and understand. The only problem that I have with the software is that it doesn't allow the user to opt out of having to install the French update if they so chose to. If they could add this feature to the software it would be perfect for those that don't need it and then it would be 5 stars.

Turbo Tax
Very easy to use. Only thing I don't like about it is it gives too many warnings and Tax Tips that don't apply to me. I make too much money and those Tax Tips and Warnings are useless to me. It should give those according to the amount you make and calculate whether or not it will benefit me.

Format
While I am somewhat used to the format, I find a need to poke around at times to get where I want to go. In short one can not readily jump around their return from page to page/schedule to schedule, etc.

Wait for it is come on sale
I like using the service, HOWEVER I signed up for the automatic renewal thinking it would be cheaper through Turbo Tax....not true....wait until Feb/Mar when it is cheaper through retail stores!!!

Good but Expensive
Used this and the original QuickTax Software for years. Works well and the family likes the method flexibility that it provides. I do not like the extra cost asoociated with the Premier Version so I can do a couple stock transactions. Just feel I don't get the value for the money because of that fact.

More returns
As the only tax preparer in my extended family I do about 25 returns each year (many for senior citizens). It would be helpful to have more options with the number of returns I can do in the prepackaged disk. It is very costly to buy additional returns online and for this reason I have been shopping around for better options from a cost perspective.
