Good but not perfect
The interview process for the Easy Steps is the first challenge. I selected Foreign Income as it was on the slips but then found out I did not need to select it. Likewise for Other Income if I did not have slips. Makes one unsure if one is doing the right thing from the start.
At the end the last step before NetFiling requires one to enter the Bank and T3 interest income amounts to total to a given number. However, these numbers are not both correct nor do they add to the number so one just ignores them. This has been a glitch for a couple of years but not fixed yet. The new NetFile works really well as long as one does not get stressed out over software glitches like this.

Very good as usual
I find the software quite easy to use but the approach that the old HOMETAX used, where they presented an image if the T slips, was very easy to enter info from the T slips. The tabular approach that TurboTax takes is a little more difficult to work with. I also think that the price is a little high but I guess that is what happens when most competitors are absorbed. That being said I will continue to use this product.

Improvements
When entering medical expenses the program would be more productive if when you type any entry (first 3 character) that was in the entry before then the program should complete the line for you and then you have the option to override.

Always Good, Getting better
Although I haven't used other tax software, I do use QuickBooks to run my businesses and TurboTax for personal and corporate taxes.
It's easy, I feel I can trust it to help me make the best decisions.
However, my biggest complaint is that is still feels a clunky - almost 80's-esque in presentation and user interface.
The designers working on QB, TurboTax Incorporated and TurboTax Personal are obviously not talking to each other or they would have quickly realized that each product interface has strengths which could be applied to the others. Does Microsoft Office come to mind, for example?

Access to Tax Experts and Easy to Use
I have used Turbo Tax for a couple of years and have had to chat with one of their Tax Experts each year. They were very helpful. The product itself is easy to use and walks you through the whole tax process.
Only complaint this year was with my son's return. It didn't prompt for his Education fees and books amount in the Easy Step but only mentioned that you should consider it. I think it should have taken you to the form to fill in the information as it does with all the other deductions.

1 problem
import securities transactions from Quicken is limited to approx. 2 pages. There should be no limit- swing trading results have to be manually entered

best value for over 10 yrs
we have used this since 2001 and have recommended this software to everyone. We have used this over the years as a husband and wife. We also used the Premium in later years for our rental property and vehicle expenses are a snap. No one should ever doubt Quick tax. It brings forward all information from the previous year.

TurboTax2013
Improves a bit each year. The Turbo Tax help centre is invaluable. It needs a bit of cleaning up or consolidating now since it has so much older stuff. But it usually answered my questions without having to google all over myself.
I do my entire family's income tax returns on it each year (8 uses)

Good to sort the tax mess
I have used this tax software for more than 10 years and I have found it to be extremely useful in sorting out the forms and schedules required. Since I have run a small home business it has been very useful to make sure all the appropriate expenses are claimed. The review process; although time consuming is worth the effort. Annoying "problem"
I have a partnership in my portfolio which is not a tax shelter but from which I get a T5013. As the Tslip doesn't have a TS number the programme can't/won't Netfile making it necessary to mail the returns. I couldn't find a "work around."

Been using it for years
I have been using it for years but last year my son turned 18 and I wasn't prompted about the advantages of him filing a return to start creating contribution room. He started college last fall and this year when he turned 19 the easy-step didn't even ask me about starting a separate return for him - I would have thought the date field for his birth might have triggered a suggestion about that - also I found transferring tuition from child to adult tough to figure out - harder than I am used to with Turbo-Tax and I am surprised there wasn't an optimizer about which parent should get the tuition transfer - it works really well for medical receipts, charitable donations and rrsp loan calculations.
Perhaps this is something you could look into for the next version.
Yes - I would still buy it but if you incorporate my thoughts above you guys would be awesome.

Like/Hate
It is definitely a two-edged sword! I hate it as much as I like it. I dislike immensely that I cannot flip back and forth between the pages as one can with hard copies. Some of the lines are buried on Schedules that you have to know in order to know where to look. Doing taxes once a year does not give me that familiarity. I have used TurboTax since it was QuickTax years ago and I guess I will continue to use it. Some years it becomes more user friendly, other years less so.

I have a suggestion or two
Charitable optimizer: Needs a means of finding the correct Charatable value in order to send my Fed Tax payable to zero. Takes too long otherwise.
Put print out buttons on all the summery sheets.
I find that the lack of lines on the printed tax forms makes them very difficult to read. I realize you are saving time and ink.
Liked the New Netfile method, a great improvement!

Easy and fast
TurboTax holds your hand through the whole process. It's easy to use and does most of the thinking for you. Just have your tax slips organized and at hand and you'll be done quickly and painlessly.

Automatic calculations
when netfiling, warnings came up for interest income not matching line 121, because only interest in T3's and T5's was being picked up while amounts in T5013 or foreign income were being ignored. Very confusing issue right at the end!
An RRSP deduction (of a $2,000 over contribution in the account) was being applied AUTOMATICALLY and a manual adjustment had to be made in the actual forms in order to correct Schedule 1.

Getting Less Rigorous
I find that the TurboTax product is requiring more and more care in its use. For example, the pension split optimizer fails to warn specifically about OAS claw back limit, the T5013 help is sketchy and the interest warning prior to filing gives an inaccurate message (i.e. assumes other income is interest).

All the changes for the tax year is built in
You do not have to go through paper tax booklets to see the changes to the tax for the tax year. The easy step walks you through the forms. I would recommend the product to anyone.
