been using Intuit tax products for years
always take time to read instruction, and use the helpful hint.. tax requirements change frequently .. save and check update often .. It is a great product but like anything take time to learn. and use it properly and you will be rewarded

Turbo tax needs to advise you as soon as there a current capital gain that you may have some net capital loss carried forward fronm previous years

Needs some improvement
I tried to download the slips and use them in the program. But important information in the federal slips had been left out.
Tried to prepare a rental statement by a couple for a single house. It didn't explain what I had tried to do wrong, but adamantly kept doubling the figures or kept saying that I had performed manual overrides which disqualified me using Netfile. Finally I had to print it and mail it.
Some additional guiding would have saved me perhaps 10 hours

Improves every year
I have been using TurboTax for as long as long as it has been available in my area. Prior to that I used Quick Tax and Cantax prior to that. Every year there are improvements and the one that I especially liked this year is the ease of NetFiling it.

Errors in Software
I like TurboTax but it has some errors, so you have to watch where you input what. The max medical is not right. the pension income splitting if you have foreign pension has to be manually corrected.

Easy to use
I have been using TurboTax (formerly QuickTax) for many years and find it to be very easy to use, either by just using the forms and doing it on your own or by following the Easy Step. I will use it again next year.

Fair value Tax Program
TurboTax for the most part seems to guide one well through the filing process, and Netfile is a breeze.
There are several improvements I wish for:
1) The sharing of investment capital gains with a spouse seems unnecessarily arduous as TT requires you to manually enter your gain/loss separate from your spouse, whereas many people will want to enter it once and split the amount with their spouse. Strange that this is missing.
2) The Interest amount confirmation that pops up when you Netfile, seems out of place. It should be presented earlier.
3) It would be nice to include a link to the Netfile Restrictions page before you go to the Netfile Privacy acceptance, since you need to confirm if you are eligible to Netfile first.

I use a computer on a casual basis so I'm not that familiar with their use. I did get my tax returns done but was unsure in how to proceed at times. My method In some instances was similar to how a child would proceed, if it doesn't work keep pressing buttons. The bottom I successfully completed my returns.

TurboTax - Good but flawed
I've used TurboTax for a number of years and have found it to be comprehensive and easy to use. The wizards for minimizing the tax paid between spouses are very useful.
2013 is the first year I have encountered a flaw in the programme. 3 of the 4 returns I did showed an error in interest income during netfile which appears to be due to a code error in the checking programme since the data in the forms was correct. Annoying but not fatal.

OK Works Well
Still some minor issues. when completing info on return and called away, not sure if program is saving input . A save button would give assurance info saved when leaving machine unattended.

Never Let Me Down
The program seps you thru better this year than in the past. I did not have as much trouble with it this year. Only comment I have as a negetive is that I spent several hours looking for the code to send my returns by netfile. There should have been a note somewhere to let us know that the code was not sent by the income tax dept. I was away and as such was sure I had lost the codes. I tried to send them and what do you know they went thru.
I will use your product again next year as I have since 1985.

Why I Use TurboTax
I like the way TurboTax personalizes my return by taking me through the Interview stage. This releases me from looking at forms that don't apply. Providing I keep my financial affairs reasonably simple, TurboTax is easy to go through and not near as expensive as going through an accountant who is probably doing the same thing as I.

Good Software
This is good software for tax preparation. I especially like the forms fill feature. The interface has not been updated in a number of years. Improvements could be use of the enter key to move the curser down the page and use of the arrow keys. The form for inputting medical information is a bit clunky. I used it one time and made an error and had to retype it all. Instead I made my own form in Excel and just put in the summaries.
the new Net filing is very good except to Net file you have to "click the link. The link is not very obvious at first - spent over half an hour looking for it as it seems to blend into the page.
I used technical support today to help me get over a Net file error. Support was very good.

Using for many years - great product
1 problem - when filling in the Education transfer if you chose Parent or Grandparent it only holds for the Federal side not the provincial - have to correct using the form.

Typos and Too much Upselling
There are a number of typos and paragraph inconsistencies.
This package was full of upsell opportunities and I found it quite annoying to have to continuously say no to the endless offers.

Good Program
I use this program to file my Canadian taxes including investment income. Generally good and easy to use. Would be helpful if they had a US-Can conversion for investments. Also the bug in the interest income should be fixed (two years).
