Use it every year!
I am a professional accountant and I have been using Turbo Tax and its predecessor Quick Tax for years and years to complete my personal and professional clients tax returns. It is easy to use, helpful and provides all the assistance I could ask for. its a very good product.

I did not find Turbo Tax very user friendly for a first timer. However, I was doing a difficult return for the first time and using the software for the first time. I found the hints very helpful but would have appreciated more upfront advice on how to navigate the fields, i.e. in easy steps if you forgot to put something in and how to get out of forms when you edit and want to return to the previous page. My second return was easier but much simpler.
Also, since I have downloaded the software on my touchscreen computer, it seems to have disabled my touch zone and I have this crazy running horse all over my mouse pointer. Not a good thing!
Would I recommend this - yes, with a few reservations/recommendations.
Despite the above, I was pleased with my results.
I will buy it again next year and import my data.
One thing, make it more user friendly for us computer duds - there are still a lot of us around and we need consideration!

Some problems
Over all TurboTax is a good Income Tax software that is easy to use.
I ran into one problem with it though. I neglected to check the T5 box in my wife's "Personal Profile". When I discoverd this in filling in the forms, I returned to the "Personal Profile" and checked the T5 box. I returned to the form to fill in the T5 information but the program would not open the form. This was very frustrating and I had to close TurboTax and begin all over again. Bummer!!!
I like TurboTax but I still prefer Quick Tax by a country mile!!!!!

Great product

Has flaws
If you have investment income, TurboTax has the following flaws:
When reporting dividends or interest, you enter the amounts under one partner's name and can specify that the income be split 50-50 between the two returns. However for capital gains, you have to break the capital gains in half and report half on one return and half on the other. The same option for capital gains should be available as for dividends and interest.
Furthermore, you should be able to view the detail from both returns for the split dividends and interest. Right now you can only view the detail from the return where it was entered,
For capital losses carried forward, Turbo Tax should automatically apply the capital losses against capital gains or at least ask you if you want that done. Right now you have to manually type in the amount of capital loss you want applied.

needs more comparison
I've been using TurboTax/Quicktax since 2004. I would like to see more available for my loyalty than just transferring information between successive years. I really like the ability to compare year over year - actually I think there should be an even more detailed comparison. I also think the ability to compare against the other years back to 2004 would be a good addition - they are all in TurboTax. Maybe being able to pull up forms between years, both on the screen at the same time so I could compare them - I do that manually now using paper, comparing the current one with the last one.
The ability to compare is a great quick tool to verify that you have entered things properly - if it is different, you should know what changed.

I could not run the demo prior to filing my tax return. Fortunately, I've used TirboTax previously, so I had no problem.

improved slips
Thanks for making it easier to split most tax slips by percentage between spouses. That saves time with the calculator. It would be even nicer to add that feature to other slips which don't yet have it.

Still a Pain
Most of the product is good, some of the help items need to be updated with real information instead of answers that assume you know what it is. For example the Personal % info I wanted much more detail than what was offered.

Keeping Up

Every area is excellent except for pension income splitting. Easier data entry with more help info is needed for spouses filing separate returns.

Good program needs some fixes
Good program, easy to use.

TurboTax works
The only complaint I have is in the fact that I had two copies of the same form open, one with data and the other without, and when I tried to close the unused one, by clicking 'Close unused forms' from the edit menu, the unused form did not close. I closed it manually and all the data was erased from the used form. When I re-entered the data, the second unused form re-appeared.

Good Product could improve still
Overall a good product with sound support. Things could be improved with regard to transfer of tuition to parents - both rules and support. Product works but sometimes leaves one guessing on how to answer or complete investment issues etc.

Fonts are unreadable!
The tiny font in a light blue colour against a white background is almost impossible to read. Please increase the size of the font and use black text.

Good tax program

good to go
Overall I like the product however when I'm doing a joint return I do not like how it makes me enter each persons information at the same time. IE I enter my T? form and then I must enter my partners T? form. I much prefer completing one person's info then the partners info.

Still Needs Improvement
I am a paper person and would like to be able to print off individual forms without filing penalty message.
Still having problems with knowing where foreign income from investments should go, as enter as T-slip but some income gets removed and put on foreign income form without much explanation. My understanding: if boxes 23, 24,whatever, stays as T-slip but if boxes 15, 16 gets moved to foreign income sheet and kind of disappears from T-slip summary. Very confusing????????
