Great for Basic Returns
While I still feel you need to have some of your own basic knowledge before being able to truly use the program fully, I still think it is a good option for people.

Much Improved Easy Step
There are 3 areas of concern though. Easy Step does not make it very easy to determine how much of your RRSP contributions you need to use to reduce your tax payable and by how much. I needed to actually go to the forms and play with the amounts until I had my taxes down to zero without using too much of my contributions.
Secondly, again this year, I needed to actually go to forms to override the CCA for farm machinery. The full amount is credited every year, even though it may not be all needed. The preparer needs to be well versed in farm taxes to not waste Capital Cost Allowances when it is not needed. A further step in Easy Step is needed to ask the question "How much of CCA do you wish to use?"
Thirdly, concerning Quebec Solidarity Tax Credit, when preparing tied spousal returns, the solidarity credit is applied to the first person's return and it is impossible to change and give it to the spouse. There should be a question "Which person wishes to claim the solidarity tax Credit?"
However, Easy Step I feel is much improved this year over previous versions .

Could use some built in explanations
Th eprogram was easy to use, however the rental property income and expenses section could be improved upon. For instance, it does really describe the differences between sole proprietor, partnership, and co-ownership and how they apply to a marital situation. It also should explain that it will populate fields such as income and expenses for both married people.

Good Product
Happy with Turbo Tax, usually buy the Audit defence as added security. Don't appreciate the offers on next years software and Quicken. Pricing is not exclusive as advertised. Both products are offered to regular customers at same price. Disappointing.

Confusing Name if filing US & Cda Taxes
I have to file tax returns in both Canada and the US, and use Turbo Tax in both cases. The name of the Canadian tax program used to be QuickTax. Now that both the US and Canada programs go by the same name, it can get confusing. It would be helpful if the installation process provided an option to identify the two programs with different names, e.g. TurboTax Canada.
Other than that, the program is excellent.

Painful Restriction
Working through the package is a pleasure. TT design is user friendly all the way through to the point of submission through to Net file. That is where the biggest disappointment occurs i.e. finding out that hard copy must be mailed because of, in my case, foreign earnings. Painful.

Saves Time and Money
Was fairly simple to use. A little difficult to go back and play with numbers as takes all way back to beginning of section. Overall is much cheaper than taking it to some kiosk in the mall, and just as fast.
Overall satisfied with results and I have confidence in the Tax Return being done correctly.

WAS BETTER LAST YEAR
Last yeat TurboTax printed a detailed tax return that
showed all enteries. Last year the pdf file was the
same as the print out. This year's changes to the
final print out was POOR !!! I want a print out that
shows ALL and a pdf that could be used to mail into
CRS. Next year I will look for a program that does it.

Easier input
For the most part, TurboTax is easy to use. One thing that would make input easier is if it would recognize repetative input (ie for medical expenses, things like prescription or dental, etc.).

The program is great and very easy to use
My only complaint is the printing part. Every year, at least for the past 3 years, the printing is a hassle as it will not let us print it from the program and we have to do it from a saved copy. Please fix this issue. Thanks

Would be better with more help tips...
For each choice in preparing some complicated forms, like the rental income forms, if there can be more useful explanations about choices, it would be even a greater tax software. Just need a little improvement.
But generally it's good.

Rental Property Expenses bug
For Rental Property Expenses, the personal percentage was not working properly. It allowed me to enter 58%, but it choked on 58.3%. Quite confusing until I figured it out.

Good Tax program
Had some confusing fields for using the disability credits for my 19 year old daughter to transfer to me. This should be made easier or explained much better.

Helpful and easy, too bad about glitches
The easy step process is the best one I have ever used for filing income taxes. The questions are easy to understand and the checking procedure prompts you so that you don't miss any deductions. The only 2 flaws were that the program issued an error message when the spouse's income was entered both for my wife and I. Further, the prediction of the refund amount if a spouse made more than $10,000 was WAYYY out of whack with what was really received. If the amount can't be closer to the real figure, that prediction should be deleted in the program. Thanks for an easy to follow program, depite the flaws.

A good first-time online experience
I was initially hesitant to file online, having gotten used to paper filing for about 20 years. The process (though long for a first-time electronic filing) was straightforward and served as a good confirmation of my paper calculations.
It also identified an error I made in calculating my wife's return.

Good for the most part
Excellent job of year over year carry fwds, but there are times when splitting items with spouse where i have to manually do both returns - it would be awesome if they could tie them together when you indciate a percent ownership - i.e 50% should translate into half of all i enter ending up on my spouses return but for rentals and joint business ventures it does not.

needs a tweak
Nice product but can be very frustrating when trying to correct errors in the review stage. It's very easy to get lost and have to repeat the long ang tedious process to get to where you were. Tried to bookmark my spot once. It wasn't allowed.

Capital Loss Carryback
The instructions did not make clear that even though capital loss carryback to previous years' capital gains would result in a refund for taxes paid in previous years but have no impact on the taxes owing in 2012

Income Tax Preparation Software
I have been using TurboTax in its various incarnations since 1995, and it has gotten easier to use at the same time as preparing tax returns has gotten more complicated. (This is the only brand of tax-preparation software I have tried.)
Having someone else do your return would probably be easier, although more expensive. Doing it yourself, however, is the only way to know really what is going on, tax-wise.
I will never go back to non-computer-assisted tax preparation, and TurboTax has never let me down.

Great product, easy to use, would recommend it to others. Much easier than doing taxes by hand. Liked the process of walking through each part, and the reminders and warnings for double checking things that might have been overlooke in the past. Will definitely use it going forward.

Ease into Tax Season
I've been using Turbo Tax since it's been available. It is a very easy program to use. I enjoyed the fact that you can transfer from one year to the other easily. Also that it optimizes certain entries so you can get the best possible refund. It is very user friendly and i would certainly recommend this product.

Premier
A Long time user of Quick Tax and TurboTax products. It is obvious the developers have made great efforts each year to improve the product. The Easy Step process works best for me and my wife and the Review seems very intuitive and catches items to review and/or correct.
