Northern living travels deductions very confusing.
How do you get lowest return air fares when they are always changing?
Used Turbotax for new immigrant and didn't find out we couldn't Netfile till the last steps. How do you TurboTax to paper file?

Easy to use - glitch in the printing set-up
I've used Turbo Tax for several years and I find it user-friendly. The last couple of years I've experienced a problem with the printing set up in the software...always at the same place - software registration page and personal information page before netfiling - there doesn't seem to be a solution - it's very frustrating.

Pretty Straight forward
We had unemployment benefits this year and it was not very clear where we had to enter it....through the easy steps. We found it eventually in the forms part to fill out...but not so clear. Other than that, straight forward.

Why pay an accountant?
For many years I use tax software, I tried a couple years another one, but turned again to Quick Tax and now Turbot Tax. I can plan how much RRSP I need to just contribute before the deadline.
Too bad TURBOTAX doesn't give a discount to repeat (many years) users...

Real estate
We have an issue with being unable to net file because of rental property. We pay no tax and make less tha $14,000 to cover expenses on this property. We do not need a GST # as revenue ios less than $30,000. Only at the time we sell the property will GST number apply.

Long Term User
Good product, fairly easy to use.
It would be nice if we could use the wheel on the mouse to scroll down the pages, and how about a "back" button on the top of the screen like most browsers have. It would be a nice touch when moving between forms.

Rental Income
Used this for the first time with a rental income, i usualy go to a tax preparation service, but this worked. Got back a small amount but at least i got something. Also i would look at what CCA is as i read on google that you can claim some of it. (i didnt) make sure you put your expenses (their is a more expenses button)

Good Value
Mostly easy to use however if you want to select pages to print, I couldn't find where you could do this. To me it is important as some pages just aren't worth printing as there is nothing on them of significance.

Capital Gains
The fact that you have to know enough to split the info on proceeds of disposition is a flaw in this program. Because you have already indicated a partnership on earlier forms, it could be assumed that the split carries through to the capital gains form but it doesn't. In effect, you could end up paying capital gains tax on twice the amount you should be paying.

Second Year
Generally speaking, I believe Turbo Tax is good software and relatively easy to use for tax return preparation. The 'learning curve' is also realtively easy and the checks and balances help to assure accurate results. For greater convenence it would be nice to have an easily available list of diagnostics, rather than going through the step by step review process. Also, the tax summary could be improved to show more detail, rather than consolidating various sources of income.

Improvements for 2013 Returns
Should be able to print estimated GST and Trillium with details on projected dates and also to print year over year comparisons from using the Intuit product from previous years you can see on the screen

Challenges this year
I have used the premier for years and this year, I had some challenges, my hardware from my mouse pad was turned off, even though my computer recognized the mouse, in the middle of completing the t4 information in box 18 my curser froze on the third return I completed on the programand I had to get a new hard wired mouse which worked, and over time I was able to re-enable my laptop mouse . I was also doing a standard form on a Friend's computer and in the third return again I was completing the medical information and the keyboard froze and with much work we had to change to a new keyboard, the first keyboard did work immediately on the other computer and when exchanged the new keyboard on the old computer all worked, in time we switched back the old keyboard, but I is a bit mysterious that on both computers, there was a hardware problem when we completed the third return on each program.
I did mention this once before, I would like to know if anyone else suffered the same challenges.

I have always had a great review for Turbo Tax and have never had any problems with moving around the return until today. Today I wanted to get out of the return before I was finished and I found I couldn't get out. I hade to go through each step not answering the questions and get to the end then save the file and get out. It will take me longer to go back and correct the info when I get the info I need.

Deceased entries
Good SW but it is confusing when entering data for deceased individuals. Can TurboTax be more user friendly and adjust the context of the questions if you are submitting data for a deceased person?

I am somewhat visually handicaped. To counter this I have display set to 150%. This results in the display of some forms exceeding the size of the screen. There is no way to move of resize the screens. The only way to get out of them is to cancel TurboTax - hardly a satisfactory solution. Also they enlarged display is not recognised by TurboTax. Many of the forms and reports are have small print which is difficult for me to read. Mos prominately of these is the screens display the information brought forward from last year and being fhheld for nect year. Even the printed version is so small that even a lawer could not read them with a microscope.

Product fine; Help line staff not good
Product is good but if you need help from the staff on the help line it was a lot less than satisfactory service. I had to complete a final return for my deceased partner and there are some things that had to be handled outside the regular tax return.

Tax advice

I list my med expenses individually and the process would be much speeded up if there was provision to use an auto fill type procedure to enter numerous repetitive entries eg for Patiant name; Payment made to: description of expenses

Better than an aspirin
It is easy and quick to use. I no longer get the headaches like before when I manually did the family tax returns. Just fill in the blank as you go along and it tallies everything for you. Simple

Good product
Good product but had issues with it this error. It would not work so I had to uninstall and reinstall it. Besides that everything else was okay. Just wished I would have found the resolution to my issue on their current support question site and not the 2009 Turbotax support site.

Generally a good program
REntal Property will not retain partnership informion they have to be input over and over. I do not understand why you cannot fix this. This has been a problem year after year and remains so. I may nto use your software next year as this is very annoying.
