Great program
I had always went to an out source tax person to do out taxes but I bought this program this year to try and save us all the fees we pay to have them professionally done. I thought this program was very easy to use the step by step instructions and live help made it super convenient, will definitely try it again next year.

Better then ONLINE version
This is a very good program if you buy or download it. I would not use the online version again since i could not get to the login page for 2011. Its better to have it on your pc from the years before. Just to bad they don't sell it to make one return.

Several years of use
I have been using this product for over 5 years and have found that it walks you through the process very easily. I have not incurred any problems and have found that the help in the program is very good and answers most question without too much time.

medical optimizer
the optimizer does not change the date range at the top of the medical expense form -- that has to be entered manually -otherwise you will not have the optimized dates entered -

Change Font Size & Colour
For those of us of advancing years, PLEASE use a larger font size to save our failing eye sight.
Also using light blue characters on a white back ground adds to the difficulty of using the product.
Changing the font size and modifying the colour scheme would make TuroTax a much more user friendly product.

Quite Impressed
Did our own taxes this year, for the first time ever. We were tired of paying hundreds of dollars for "almost basic tax returns". Fairly simple to use, except in the unordinary parts of tax prep., but using previous returns as a guide we got through it alright. Actually quite impressed, and will certainly purchase again.

Good overall
Have used QuickTax/TurboTax for over 10 years. Extremely easy to use and improves ease of use each year. If you do not have complicated tax situations, this software is great if you are filing at least two people. I do mine and my husband's as well as my parents. My parents always seem to get a bigger refund and/or pay back less than doing it by hand.

The only issue that I had was the occasions when I clicked on something for help or for information. I got to the page with the information but could not figure out how to go to back to where I was. I had to go the the main headings and work my way through. A go back key would be helpful.

It would be nice if you printed the instructions in a larger font. Most of the printing is almost grey instead of black and is difficult to read on the screen.

Issues with Stock Tracker

Some frustrations
In general no issues with the product. But would like to highlight one problem I have encountered. I started my wife's return first a number of years ago and the software still treats her as the principle tax payer. There does not seem to be a easy way to correct this. The program tries to force shared deductions on to my wife's return though it should be obvious that I am the higher earning and taxable filer.
Was good at dealing with investments and my mothers different pension sources.

improvement ????
would it be possible, that when, you have collapsed your professional self income business, and the next year no income is shown, then why does turbo tax continue to use these forms with nothing on them, and then print about 20 extra forms when you go the print operation. there should be a way to say i'm no longer in the business. if this is not possible, then maybe the only way out is to use a different tax provider and start over. this would not be ideal, but i need a solution. thanx

tax explanation
Although the program is fairly easy to use some of the tax tip explanations could be improved. The one that comes to mind is in regards to intallment payments where the wording is "any installment". This may mean one or all installments paid by the tax filer. A better choice would be to change the wording to "all installments".

Limited Features
I noticed that data entry screens and field sizes on forms are not consistent (ie donations and medical, often what is typed in the data entry screen is truncated on the form and there appears to be space on the form.
No copy feature for entry similar data on the form.
Would prefere to enter data directly into forms (ie for donations and medical rather than data entry screens.
Questions / Hints are too generiic (not linked to marital status, age etc.) For example when single, it tells you to consider splitting oension with spouse, makoing rrsp when over 70 etc.
I did not find any extra features in the premier version over the standard version to warrant the extra cost.

Very good software but ....
I had some difficulties in reporting foreign rental and foreign interest incomes and expenses. It seems the program does not have clear instructions for entering foreign incomes and expenses correctly.
