It's okay, it was better before....
The Intuit Turbotax Premier is okay to use, it can use more descriptions in some categories (especially investments). Also, it's disappointing that they need to charge you to talk to a Turbotax expert now (trying to find how to use their software). Call CRA directly for tax questions, if you are not sure. As getting charged $75 for an "Assist & Review" is nuts.

Too many warnings and errors before filing
The software has now too many warnings and errors before filing, compelling the user to pay extra money for assist and review ensuring the confidence that the warnings and errors are all resolved before submitting to CRA.

Errors do not get fixed, I written about blank forms not closed before printing even though
the software asks you to close. At least three years, and nothing is done.
Fixing Override problems still not fixed. TP-80 forms with no data still gives you a problem to netfile,

Premier vs Standard versions
I have purchased Premier version of software for few years, hoping that it will allow for extra support from TurboTax, but did not get it. No different than buying Standard version. Will now save money in the future.

basic investor reporting issues
Good product, been using it for many years but this last version is a nightmare went entering investment T5008, T3 ect... have not been able to netfile do to multi error that take forever to resolve

Software has declined
The software is not as good as it used to be. There seem to more problems than in the past which may be in part due to CRA issues. Just not sure if it is worth it. Will evaluate options next year.

Expensive and Underwhelmed
Had to purchase the software owing to foreign investments - will not use all of the returns on the copy I purchased - only used 2 out of 12 purchased. Would like a lower price option but nothing else available.
Advertised as "Adjustable Font" but only some of the pages can be adjustable - like the government forms but the easy step screens are not adjustable - filed bug report but no action taken.

WAAAY too expensive

Unclear
There is need for plain English, instead of the accounting jargons. Also more explanation on each topic, and the relationships and effects to other parts of the tax return. Often the "help" is short and not understandable.

Long time user of Basic, buys Premium this year
After 20 years of satisfied use of Basic Turbo-Tax, I tried Premium. My tax filing in retirement is far more complex due to a wide variety of T-slips associated with various flows of retirement income. I have diligently completed the data fields, checking numerous times to ensure no inaccuracy at inputting. Unfortunately, Premium has not produced a Tax filing that I can file by NetFile, much to my disappointment, and significant waste of time.

Intuit Recommended Premier
I had Standard Turbo Tax and Intuit recommended Premium because I had a T5. There was no change at all to how I usually use Standard for inputting my T5. The extra $50 was not worth it.

Make sure to either wait or update often
If you install Turbotax early in year then make sure to run if often and update it regularly. If you don't new updates may fail and you will have to uninstall and get newer installation file

Getting too expensive
I've used TT forever as there is an advantage of staying with the same product for carry-over info and familiarity. However, the product is getting far too expensive for its worth. Time to look at alternative products.

generally good and helpful
counter intuitive things not explained. eg. I expected optimal pension splitting to balance the incomes of the partners. Instead, it is so sizable that it reverses relative incomes of the partners.

Super Clunky difficult to navigate
I have used web version for years with no issues then last year 2023 taxes Turbotax online said i lived in US when i was in Canada and could not Netfile due to issues. in order to get a refund i had to delete all my years of entry's , what a pain, used wealthsimple and worked fabulous for instant Netfile. This year bought the Costco 12 pack version to hopefully get it right for less, not the same and very difficult to navigate and for Grandparents I wont be able to download their Turbotax profile from onolien versin

Unable To Enter
Could not find a solution on how to enter an amount from Box 10 on RC210. To go on line 38120 of Schedule 6 but it was a calculated field. Online Turbo Tax does not seem to provide the ability to enter a number. Should be part of the intro questions then complete a form like a T5007.

Decent, but rough around the edges
Gets the job done, but in this 2024 version, if CRA connectivity is interrupted, TurboTax hangs completely leaving you to redo a bunch of work. Small detail, the resolution in the nav is completely broken in this 2024 version, font size 72 here we come.

Premier
The business section was fairly clear but finding out the right business code took a while. The financial investment section was a bit challenging as it took some time to follow the numbers in certain areas. Though entered correctly under the T5, T3, T008 section tracking the numbers back( to where they came from) when they appeared on the Schedules, Summaries and other pages took some time as they were not always exactly 50% but less. I just had to trust the program knew what it was doing as far as only declaring what were the right amounts to be declared. One thing that would be extremely helpful is if on the form section when the list appears T1, T1Worksheet etc if the other forms came with a title identifying what they were. I had 20 forms most of which were just numbers. I ended up making a list identifying each form so I could follow the numbers on The T1as they were not always the same as they appeared on the T slips.
