T5008 section flawed
The T5008 section for capital gains missed the 50/50 split on capital gains for my wife and I even though I entered 50% for each share. There was no phone number to call. The help function was useless. I had to send a separate letter to CRA explaining the TurboTax mistake and ask for a reassessment.

Help is not very helpful; bombarded with stuff
I have never found the help at all useful. The info provided may be regulated by CRA so desgined not to be helpful. Just now I was trying to Netfile, but got redirected to planning for next year. I REALLY hate having to enter every chartiable donation and medical receipt - much better to upload a spreadsheet (But I'm sure CRA doesn't want things to be convenient).

Cumbersome with Vague Questions
Program is written by people who clearly don't use it. Easy Step questions are vague and lead you down the path only to find out you didn't answer the question correctly. Required me to fill in a schedule 3 for sale of house even though no house was sold because there was a student with moving expenses. Got caught in an endless loop at the end for reviewing the tax return.

Expensive for low income with bank interest
Ridiculous that I had to purchase this program because I had bank account interest to claim. I am a stay at home mom with no income. Do better Turbotax.

Missing currency info when import CRA tax slips
I would rate Turbotax all 5 if it doesn't miss the currency information when import T5008, T5, T3 tax slips from CRA and let user to input currency exchange rates and automatically calculate the CAD equivalent amounts and save them into separate CAD equivalent amount fields.

Too expensive
Turboxax requires you to buy a whole new program every year. Why not just an update to the current program. Price is excessive for what you get.

I paid the $52 for expert advice and a meeting was set up for March 21 @5:00 pm but I was never phoned. (TTDNA221513179) I have never been able to talk to a real person. I tried a second time to set up a meeting but again I was never contacted

Came Over from Ufile
I came over from Ufile as download from CRA was hit and miss last year. I could not download any of my T5008s with that program. Turbo Tax was recommended. Yes, it did download all my T5008s but it I still had to do one manual entry per T5008. At 192 of them, I was not happy.
My kids have each have their own home business. TurboTax wanted me to pay another $52 on the top of the $82 I already paid in order to have Easy data entry. That is a rip off compared to the other product which includes all that for $40 total. TurboTax also comes up with random messages during filing with CRA that leaves my head aching.
Overall I cannot recommend Turbo Tax for anything more that your basic tax return

Love the program
Love the program. But they need to greatly improve the time in-between screens. for a married couple it will take you approximately 2.5 + hours to do.

Slow/No great value
If you do yours online and then want to switch to desktop next year its useless. You cant pull down online information to desktop version. You will need to input data all over again. Stick to desktop that way you dont keep your personal inforamtion on their cloud withou you having access to it.

Trading Summary T5008
The form used for T5008 needs to be improved. The form requires that each item be indicated in two categories. One is whether the item is or is not to be shared (e.g. spousal) and the other as to nature (e.g. capital gain or not).
When one indicates the categories for one item, the list returns to the TOP of the list NOT the NEXT item as would make good sense. That is, the form is not set up to be used conveniently. In my and my wife's case, we have in the order of one hundred or more items, so the work to be done is large and not at all convenient as one has to search for the next item.
It seems to me that two improvements to this form could be made easily. ONE is to indicate the nature of the category (e.g. capital gain) for all relevant items. The SECOND is to indicate the sharing for all relevant items.
In our case, the items are all capital gains and are shared 50:50. Doing this as I suggest would save a lot of pain, time and possible errors.
Please look into this as I don't think this is complicated.

the help content is a lot worse that previous
The help content is a lot worse that previous quick tax, many years ago, when I got started to use the software
after import the slips from CRA, the T5008 and T5 entries are very confusion for foreign currency. Should have include the box 13 (exchange rate box) in the screen. It has waste a lot of my time trying to figure out how to enter and had to trying verify via forms.

OK purchase but lots of problems
CCA calc doesn't work
T5008 spent 2 hours changing every slip to capital gains - why does;t it just deafault to that
T5013 requires industry code but doesn;t exist on slip

T5008 Autosave&print
T5008 would not autosave and parts seemed to disappear and on the first print option it would print one client only, no matter which choice was made. Overall seemed glitchier than last year.

Poor support
The support on the platform is poor. You can not find anything basic. This is a problem that needs to be fixed for basic users like me. the other issue is that when you look for real people support ( after I paid for it ) the process to get it is brutal. You did a good job hiding the number to call as well making the robot answering process a painful process. Please fix this

Pretty good. Got the job done.
Turbotax desktop SW works pretty good to get the job done. There is some room for improvement. I prepare 4 family returns each year. Here are some issues and wishes for future updates.
1) ***Couldn't run old already-installed versions for year-over-year comparisons. Says my license numbers are exceeded. Had to call support for new license code for Turbotax 2020. Took over an hour to resolve. I'm very lucky I had Costco receipt. I use the same computer every year, but I have upgraded RAM twice and SSD once. Your activation server thinks it's a new computer. Very annoying. And even if I was using multiple new computers, there's no way to de-register an installed copy, or manage my licenses online.
2) Have to enter T776 rental form twice - once for each 50% spouse owner. Wish there was an option to automatically split
3) There's no automatic $CAD conversion for $USD T5s. This is a frequently requested feature.
4) No automatic way to optimize and transfer dividends from lower-income spouse to higher-income spouse to make best use of dividend tax credits.
5) Lastly, there's no warning that T5008s need to specify income type to Capital gains or risk not being counted at all. Thanks for listening.

I have a long standing problem with questions that never get answered. When a portion of the program is no longer in use Quicktax just keeps printing off the 20 page form even though all entries are left blank

Limited investment support
I upgraded to premier in hopes it would handle investments efficiently. It didn't because:
- limited number of trades to enter ( needed 250 )
- had to type them all in since no capability to import from excel or csv file
- no way to apply exchange rate to all transactions
- no cut and paste with right click. Had to use keyboard ^C, ^V to do it
- no special treatment for option trading
- some forms sloppy (eg 1st line on 2nd page of S3Supp - number in wrong column )

Good features but keeps crashing
I've been using TurboTax for a number of years but I never experienced the problems that I had this year. The program kept crashing and getting hold of support is practically impossible. Not sure if I use it again next year because I also had issues with it last year which I was hoping that would be rectified in this year's version

Bug on Federal Foreign Tax Paid
It seems you have a bug in Line 43100 on Federal Foreign Tax Credit (Form T2209E) as well as Line 1 on Form T2036E, the number is different from the Foreign Non-Business Tax that I inputted. Also your input areas do not allow pasting with right click of the mouse. It is so inconvenient to click Edit and chose paste each time

Mechanics are good, the end result ws terrible
I only have one complaint.
I cannot print a copy to mail to CRA for my 2015 or 2016 returns.

Needs a little bit more explanation
This is my first time using this & I found it easy to use. However, there are areas where I got stuck. For example, you check the box if you've lived outside CMA. The question was confusing for me. I did not live outside CMA so I did not check the box but the warning kept popping up. Another thing that got me confused was the paying property tax vs. education advance tax credit.
I wish it were more visually friendly like Studio Tax.
