Tubotax Canada should take lesson from US version
Not as robust a product as the US Turbotax. Medical optimizer does not work (in our case) - in fact it does not even "optimize" just blindly assigns all medical expense to the lower income individual which results in HIGHER taxes in our case. PRINT return bypasses the print dialog box so you can't select two-sided printing or other features (save a PDF version and then print from the PDF file). Direct editing of forms is cumbersome (US version much better). No provision that I could find for entering Canadian taxes withheld in a US investment account for Canadian corporation dividends (tax treaty requires withholding at a 15% rate). In US version this is straight forward - can't find it in Canada Turbotax.

T5008 capacity sucks
If you have a lot of T5008 entries and share investment income do not expect the Premier version to be friendly. I spend hours editing each entry to 50%, as I had to do last year with the Standard version. If you are going to use TurboTax for the above, don't use the CRA download for T5008, just consolidate.

Sneaky Marketing
This year people had to upgrade from Standard to Premier in order to file investment income. This is a pure money grab and rather sneaky. I'll be looking at competitive alternatives next year.

Turbo Tax 2021
Always a good program and simple to use however it was challenging working on windows 11 this year. It was having difficulty starting up each time. It took multiple times to get the application open and I had to reinstall twice

Very frustrating
I tried importing data from the CRA for the first time & found it frustrating to add in a T3 that was not in CRA system yet, as well as medical expenses, charitable donations & small interest amounts - essentially the program led me through the entire process again. Ugh!

Unable to efile & unable to print original to mail
I go to the end and went to efile. It stated that I was ineligible to efile and gave examples of what some situations are when people are unable to efile. So I am not sure why I cannot. Then when I had to file by mail, when I went to print the return - there was something written across each page that I printed saying it was the duplicate and not to mail that copy when I click - print copy to mail. I am perplexed. I want to file as I am getting a return.

Why the need to upgrade
Due to software changes, I was required to upgrade to premium. I had a few T3s/T5s representing very little income, yet in order to use TurboTax I had to use the upgraded version, which was not worth the cost.

Senior Citizens only need 2 returns

Rental Form
I picked premier over standard because the blurb said it is recommended for rentals. I did not see any difference between using rentals this year compared to the Standard edition last year. had hoped spouses only had to fill in once but had to reenter all info for spouse.

Too much excess advertising
Your program is getting more and more complicated by cluttering up the focus when net filing . We don't ask for excess information for the benefit of Turbotax so do us a favor and git rid of your sales crap. i may use Cantax next year because of this.

unintuitive questions
The Covid return isn't stream lined... and refuse to accept the "no form" option even though it is accepted. it is frustrating not know that the number of days will be asked later...
Very frustrating interface/question with the health care premium involving box 14-16-50 and the months...
Other than that, the last year import is nice.

Comments re Premier Edition.
I normally use the Standard Edition. Because last year I did some active trading on stockexchanges, I used the Premium edition as it advertised special features for treatment of investments. I found that the assistance was very limited, and that the 8 pages of transactions I had to enter took hours, instead of providing a facility to use the electronic data provided by my Investment Firm as an attachment to the Turbo Tax file. This needs to be made available, as otherwise a manually filed taxreturn, where you can attach the printouts is much more efficient. If the attachment of electronic media is made available I will continue to use Turbo tax, if not, I will consider to return to filing my returns manually with Revenue Canada, even though I have used Turbo tax and its predecessor for decades.

Software was ok but "professional review" advise was not. Seemed that "professional" wasn't aware or Canadian quirks this season. The result was bad advise which required changes and refiling both Canadian and Quebec taxes.

Not as robust as previous versions
Latest version seems to hang often, not as responsive or slow and once got err code TT604 resulted in reset to EasyStep to initial state with no data loss.
Blue continue button had to be clicked on twice to take on quite a few occasions. Not as robust as previous versions which I have been using ever since TurboTax stared.

Not good for new landlords
When working through the rental property income and expenses, it is not "interview style" like the basic tax sections are. It does not explain the difference between capital costs and current costs and you will have to google it all on your own.

Interface Issues

Falling behind the times
Turbo Tax is going out of date. Pricing themselves out of the market. Check out newer software at more affordable pricing and even free. Even the CRA will offer better options. Last year they get my hard earned dollars.
