Very frustrating that information cannot be inputted directly on to Forms approach for advanced preparer, and must be done by the Easy Method which slows the process. After many years of using TurboTax for 20 tax returns that I prepare, I am not planning on renewing unless this feature is fixed.

Had trouble getting into program. Error message said it couldn't connect to the internet and to reset modem. Didn't work. Tried to find solution. Support page was no help. Finally figured out that my VPN was preventing the software from initializing.

I have been using Turbo Tax Premier since 2012 edition and with the exception of the 2020 edition my experience has been most satisfactory. Loading the disc or download from the Web presented challenges. Hopefully next year I will return to a great experience.

I have serious concerns about the problems that arise with importing CRA T5008 information into turbo tax. Dates and type of income was missing on each transaction and I needed to manually enter each one in order to obtain the correct capital gains and investment income totals.

Compare to what it used to be several years ago, it is a lot harder to navigate the tax return. Is it because the tax law is getting too complex or it is because TurboTax is making it too complicated?

I had problems with the license. I would enter it and i would be asked for it again. And again. I spent time with customer support and i thought the issue was fixed. It wasn't. I had to re-install the software several times

CRA downloads were incomplete for T5008 so would not Netfile. Needed support by phone and very difficult to get access to number. It used to be easier to get help.

Went through extended periods over several days when it would not open but instead went to code activation page,and, after keying in the 16-character code, was told the server (at Intuit) could not communicate with the computer-- when everything else electronic was working perfectly... I've been using Turbo since it was QuickTax and never had a problem like this.

This year Turbotax was very slow on my computer. This version had duplications, even the rating were asked for twice. Accessing CRA type information via help was very limited if one wanted to further review items. I have been a long time user of Turbotax and using the Premier version was not worth the extra cost. I hope they can improve next year.

I have been using TurboTax Standard for over 10 years as a self employed taxpayer as well as a single rental income and it worked fine. I have started investing in stocks and thought maybe the upgrade to Premier would be a benefit assisting with tracking and recording investment tax info and further assisting with recording rental income/expenses. I was sadly mistaken! I am pretty sure I could have used the Standard. There was noting that jumped out at me as being different between the two editions; in fact, I found the Premier to potentially be a bit more confusing (though I did not try Standard 2020). I had errors after completing as well the software continues to state that I have overrides and it will not allow me to fix them (not that I ever actually made them). As well, it seems that TurboTax attempts to integrate with the Quebec Provincial Tax forms but it is clear that it is more of an after thought. I wonder if any other tax software provides better guidance and tips/tricks but I am too busy to try other products out. Next year I will save $40 and just buy Standard for my needs.

If your financial institution gives you a T5008 and includes a redeemed/matured GIC, watch out how TurboTax handles it if you use the Auto-fill from CRA. It may incorrectly add it to your capital gains.

The Premium version has more prompts and suggestions loaded into the Q&A format than the Standard version. But if your taxes are this complicated, you end up looking at forms view anyway, just to see what's going on. Once I'd downloaded all my info from CRA, I would have been better off switching to the forms view to correct my broker's ACB calculations and convert all my U.S. tax slips into Canadian dollars. I'll be switching back to Standard next year.

Last year I used the online version. It wouldn't use previous year's info to fill in the form. I didn't like the online version so I downloaded this year. Again it would not access previous year's info and I had to enter everything manually including CCA numbers. I'm hoping that I don't have the same problem next year.

I have been a regular forms user of Premier for more than ten years and this 2020 version caused me more trouble because response for downloaded version was brutal. The boxes for elections canada us property and language prefernec do not work on entry and the supposed easy flat rate entry for COVID work from home was so easy you cant do it in forms but have to go through interview process to enter. How lame is that

So turbo tax, it gives you a degree of protection with the convenience of not having to go to a place like H&R block. Except... it really doesn't. Yeah it's convenient, but if you want any form of review the cost jumps back up to match just dealing with a human.
And when you need premium for some small little thing but your taxes are still small and insignificant it seem absurd...
Honestly just have a human do it. It's not much more expensive and they typically take on some degree of liability.

I have used TT Standard for many years and liked it, This is the first year with TT Premier and I was disappointed with the lack of ease with which our returns were filled and filed. I would not recommend it to others.

Very frustrating. Would not let me Netfile. Kept asking me a yes or no question and would not let me netfile. Finally after 2 weeks of me just waiting, they finally put out an update and I was able to netfile.

While filling my 2020 Tax return, I have noticed that Home Bayers' Plan Repayment is not calculated properly. HBP minimum repayment amount added back to RSP income section. I have reported this issue to TurboTax and agent told me that they aware of this issue and working on a software update to resolve it in a few days. Five days passed already with no solution to this issue and I can't file my tax return yet. Very frustrating and time consuming.

I have been using Turobtax Premium for perhaps a dozen years. It as still Quick Tax back then. This years version is the flakiest version I have ever seen. Starting with difficulties getting it loaded through to Net Filing with an error that couldn't be fixed but apparently didn't matter. The HELP people I spoke to very good. see case # 471773425

This was the worse experience with Turbo Tax to date. I purchased the Premier version CD at the local Shoppers Drugmart. 3 attempts to load the program failed. It would process to the step to "activate" the program and after entering the licence code it would state "activation successful" click "get started", which I did. After waiting 40 minutes nothing happened. I was forced to uninstall and attempt to download. I entered the download location but it would not give me the option to download the version I had purchased but kept prompting me to buy the version again. I tried finding troubleshooting assistance but was transferred to a site that wanted me to pay for assistance. After continued searching for almost an hour I finally found the proper online location. I'm not even sure how I did. Then the download took almost an hour at which end required a reboot of my computer to add a needed dll file. In all I have spent just over 6 hours to complete my tax return. Actual entry of my financial records took about 35 minutes. The remainder of the time was spent just trying to get the program to launch. Next year I will forego purchasing Turbo Tax. I spent almost $80.00 on the program and for another 20 I could have had it completed by an individual at H&R Block. If I had known what was to be required to make use of TT I would have gladly paid the $20.00 to save myself 6 hours of frustration.

Software kept asking for Product Key every time opening. Couldn't get any satisfaction from software support. Been using this for 10+ years, and the help file and options have went down hill and the value has decreased. It becoming more expensive. I'll revaluate next year of using this software.

I upgraded to Premier this year and the printing functions did not work. I was able to print the last 15 pages of each of the tax returns I completed but wasn't able to direct the printer to override this apparent default. And it printed the last 15 pages over and over again until I specifically cancelled the print job.

Have used this product for many years. This year there was a bug, and I needlessly spent a few hours trying to netfile to Quebec. Finally, went to the web and was told to update, though i do every time I open the program.Did an update again, and finally worked. Would have been nice to be forewarned. Still all in all, fairly easy to use.
