One return at a time
Turbotax locks up when downloading information for more than one person if doing two people at the same time. Program doesnt close CRA connections or Banking connections leading to a lock up when doing additional people.

Having Issues
When i went to file my return i was not able to click onto the Netfile square, it was blocked, but it did not say that your forms were not ready for me to Netfile. Given that information would help to know that it was not my return that was the problem

Impossible to fix the error
I tried to Netfile my wife's return but the Warning came that the date of her spouse (that is me!) is missing. I tried for 30 min to find the way to fix this error but could not find the Spouse Date of Birth box, I used the Help function but it is useless. VERY FRUSTRATING EXPERIENCE!!! I have been using Turbo for over a decade now and almost every year had problems with Netfile Warnings - they are very difficult to fix and in the end I printed and mailed these returns. This is what I am going to do with this return as well, just print and mail. I am not sure I will use this poorly developed software again.

When I installed the CD there was no setup.exe file. I even did a search on the CD. I had to download from the website. I found this very frustrating. Once using turbotax is was easy, however, when trying to download MyAccount on CRA I was unable and it just took me to the survey even though I had said after my visit.

Error
Turbotax Premier download edition.I kept getting an error for not entering my spouses birth date. Only problem was when you use there wizard, there is no place to enter this information. Eventually I went back to the Manual input forms mode on the tax return and entered the information. Very frustrating.

Import Documents from CRA
This is the first year I tried to use the Import of T'forms from CRA. I found the import lacking in details and confusing to know what was included. Some imported documents showed a value of zero but when you opened the image, the information was there ????
I deleted and entered manually for peace of mind and completness.

clumsy interface
The step by step interface is awful. You cannot move around easily like US Turbotax, the only way to select what you want is to go to one of the few steps displayed, then hit continue a lot to get to the screen you want.

Intuit Turbo Tax is not like it used to be
Intuit products used to be the simplest, most straightforward easy to use software going. Once the Turbotax brand was added the product has become less user friendly and less intuitive. I've used if for years and this year I'm struggling with overrides, fixing over rides and getting one answer in the forms section and a different answer on overrides in the easy step section. I don't know what to think. I'm going to restart the software, maybe that will help. The only reason I bought the software this year was the easy transfer from year to year. I think I'll be shopping around next year.

Another bug this year
Does not handle TP-64.3 (Covid-19 work from home) form automatically; requires form to be filled out manually in order to submit QC return; would have been stuck if not for other unhappy users posting solution.

confusion about having a tax expert assist
it was unclear if you need to pay the $50 for a tax expert to review your file each submission, or if the unlimited assistance is for all the tax files I submit. With the premier option you can complete many on the one computer, but the support people wanted me to pay 50$ every tax return. (Although they admited not really being sure, and didn't give me a definite answer. They said they would look into it, but never heard back.) If this is the case that you need to pay $50 for every file, turbo tax seems pretty expensive and not much better than hiring an accountant to help with taxes.

issues with printing this year
I've been using Intuit Tax products for over 10 years (Turbot Tax, Quick Tax). I've been very happy previously, but this particular year, the options to save via PDF and to print the CRA versions contained the "DUPLICATE - DO NOTE SEND BY MAIL" watermark.

Still room for improvement
Turbo Tax is very good at doing the popular things. Although it has made some improvements in the foreign tax credit more could be made. Some terms are a bit confusing. The Foreign Income Verification Statement seems very unforgiving in that once an error has been entered on the form it is impossible to track it down and correct it.

Helpful but dated interface
I've been using different versions of this software since the 1990s when it was known as QuickTax in Canada.
While I appreciate the effort put into and the progress made in the EasyStep interview mode, the basic forms version, much used by advanced users, is stale and unevolved in its 4th decade!
The menus, boxes, and fields have a Windows 95 legacy functionality.
For example, the forms menu accessed at the bottom of the screen doesn't even have the Tiled functionality of a Windows XP menu. Consequently, you must scroll through a long list of forms - double the number in Quebec - to access your desired form.
Also, the Tax slip dialog box is small and confining and has remained unchanged since at least TurboTax99. The field entry is helpful but a more updated form taking advantage of the width of our modern widescreen laptops would be more appropriate.
Much of the legacy issues, along with user frustration, could be lessened by allowing user customization.
When printing Tax Returns, for instance, TurboTax offers to closed unused windows or forms before printing. This however often results in pages of unwanted forms (CNIL, for example) wasting paper and toner.
A Dialog Tic Box allowing us to uncheck unwanted forms for printing would be appreciated. You could work around manually, but why make users do more steps?
Easier and more obvious zooming or resizing could be very useful to users, especially when switching between modes and forms.
All in all, TurboTax is a familiar and useful; tool, but it carries its legacy of dated clunky interfaces, inconsistent design and functionality that denotes a stale and tired R&D department.

Still get stumped
The overall format seems easy to follow however there are some instances that do not explain exactly what information to input. It would be helpful to give examples of how to do it. I do not want to be guessing and surfing all over the internet trying to find answers and help from forums.
I am hoping I made no errors and that I filled out all the fields properly, especially the ones that were confusing.
I would suggest that after each section you could add a question asking if the content was understandable. That way, you could see the questions most people have a problem with. We are not seasoned tax accountants. I cannot think of instances that I found challenging because my brain is fried and mentally exhausted. Keep trying to improve Turbo Tax. Thank you

Worst year ever !
Been using Turbo Tax Std for yrs, went to Premier this yr. More pblms!, Turbo TAx has pblms for years with people who are retired and have medical health coverage, Turbo Tax puts in an amount in RRSP contrib even though NONE was done or is allowed. And allows the credit for workers to be calculated when the person is retired and NOT working. Plus this year Premier DUPLICATED the sales of my stocks resulting in an INCORRECT FILING which I have had to make an adjustment to both Federal and Provincial..

review of 2019 TurboTax Premier
Both the Forms method and the Easy Step method take the "calculating" out of preparing your tax return. However, it helps to have experience and online help from the Canada Revenue Agency. This is because many situations fall into a "grey" area where the built in help does not clarify
things. For example what is the difference between Class 10 and Class10.1 resources that you may use when running a rental property. (A vehicule that could be
used needs to be entered in the correct class.)This year I got a warning about a large amount I supposedly entered in a certain box from a T4 slip. It turned out that I had entered it correctly, but the warning mentioned incorrectly I had used the wrong box. There is not enough explanation about why you may not claim for all the dependents that you have. A suggestion: please make the running total of your refund or what you owe accessible from the forms method, not just from Easy Steps. Another: Make all fields accessible from both the forms method and easy step.

Disappointed
I have been using TurboTax for over 10 years and this is the first time that I have been disappointed.
I usually buy it at Costco because it is the best deal but due of COVID19 I decided to use the download version.
The problems started when I was unable to transfer last year's data which was time consuming; I kept getting reminders to file previous years' taxes and there was no way to compare this year's summary of the submission with the previous year . When I checked the Community Q&As I saw that others encountered the same issue with 2018 transfers at the beginning of the year. Obviously it has not been corrected! The least I would expect is a caution that the function is not available.
I also found it hard to navigate the Contents and Index and the Search function did not work properly,.
Although I was still able to get my taxes filed on time it was not what I expected from Intuit!

Sometimes simple becomes complex
Would like to see Turbo tax:
(1) either notify user of forms where currency conversion must be done OR automatically do the currency conversion.
(2) let user decide which forms they want downloaded from CRA. For myself, I need to delete all T5008 forms downloaded due to Bus Inc/GainLoss field being blank and those in US dollars requiring conversion.
(3) identify minimum values/mandatory fields. For T1135, had to enter the gain/loss field for a bank account (really!); and for T5013 the minimum % share is .01 (my percentage was much lower).
Had to contact an agent who was excellent and resolved all issues; but I did have to wait 60 minutes to speak to someone.
Next year will be questioning the relevance of using this product.

A Bad Year For Turbotax
Interview Questions do not lead to full completion of Forms which would be still all right if the Software gave a warning or a relevant screen did pop-up for us to complete it manually(Forms Option). Errors are only detected at the end and to fix them, one has to go to individual forms, read from Internet sources how to fill them out and fix the problem. Clearly, this year TurboTax has not tested the software properly before offering it.

Okay, but wizard not useful for foreign holdings
I found Turbotax to be reasonable, but the questions the wizard ask are not very clear at the beginning. For example, I have rental income from properties so I answered yes to rental income. Then it opens up the T776E form. Which is very annoying because it is blank when I printed out my assessment but I am not sure if I have to include it. Overall, it works but I did not get the extra value and could have used a simpler file software.
I also need extra sheet for my T1135. So I had to print it and add the extra holding manually. Blech

Originally purchased standard edition but while inputting data I was prompted to upgrade to a Premier edition. I had to pay an additional charge to upgrade - I feel this was not proper because it was a software upgrade. Proper customer service would dictate that no additional charge should have been issued as there was no indication on box that my needs would not be met with standard version that I purchased

Problem with CRA Account
I file returns for both my wife and I, together. I have a CRA account, and my tax info is available to me on my Account. However, CRA knows I file both returns and yet do not provide my Wife's info, such as CPP and OAS forms, and it is impossible to obtain her info directly from CRA. I tried, called them, made my request for her info, as did she, was promised that the forms would be mailed to us, and I waited until May 29 and still the forms were not sent or delivered. There has to be a better way.
