bug potential
on more than one occasion i have re-opened a return to add late coming info and have it show as blank. first time i re-entered info and wasnt happy after i opened the backups and continued.

Help
Phoned help line and got US assistance not Canadian. Should be clearer phone number to use.
Hard to find out how to print donations, medical, investment reports.

Ive used TT more than ten years and it was always good but this year I got a bad program and after a few wasted days and many wasted hours with FAQ and more than 4 hours with tech support I was finally downloaded a new copy which works like it is supposed to

HELP topics need a lot of work
Completing the tax return with the software works really well. However, if there is any uncertainty and you are trying to use HELP to determine how to record something, or what is the meaning of a certain term, the HELP system is useless. Especially in regards to taxation terminology.

Good but errors in software
The TurboTax software finally completed my tax returns (FED and QC) but there were several major errors - to note: it did not complete required check marks (e.g T1135, among others), there were other errors that required a careful review of every page. The help provided is basically useless. The previous TurboTax software had less errors and better help. It also provided a much better way to navigate the easy interview process. Far less good than previous year software.

a fair system but no help
Unable to bring forward previous year return, had to imput entire new return information this year for three returns so far unable to get help from Turbo Tax and for some reason imputed all of 2018 information onto a 2017 return in error and am unable to delete this, why? Left it as is and finally did a 2018 but the 2017 is still in there HELP how do I get out of it??

Nice but improvements are needed
I found the software a bit clunky this year. I had problems getting the updates so had to delay filing my return. That may have been due to late changes to forms by the CRA though. I also had trouble with reporting Capital Gains from securities transactions. I think there should have been clearer guidance about how and where to report such gains. Support this year was pretty good, I did get to talk to an actual person! The "we'll call you back" feature when dealing with a long hold for the next available tax expert does not work.

Simple but frustrating
Finally, after almost a month since CRA opened Netfile, I was able to file my return. This means that I will get my refund just about 3 weeks or so after I should have had it in the bank. TurboTax is easy to use and I would certainly recommend it to others if I could be sure that returns could be filed when they should be instead of having to twiddle my thumbs for almost a month. I seemed to me that there was never a priority to updating the forms for the download version.

Tough sledding
Found it really difficult to jump back and fix mistakes. Very hard to find input fields using the help system. Seems like they go away after you use them. This is my third year using TurboTax, and I still struggle with it. To me (yes, I am an old retiree with no love of computers!) it is not user friendly.

Biggest problem with the software is the inability to process more than 30 line item entries on Form T5008. Forced to add up all entries as one in order to transfer the proper mathematical value to other affected forms.

Inconsistent experience
We purchased a premier package at costco assuming this was going to be a good price. We went home and completed our taxes online assuming once we reached the end we would input the code on the CD from the package we bought. Found out after all that work the online and desktop versions are not connected in any way. Super frustrating. We subsequently discovered that the user experience is different online vs desktop so when we were transposing the work we did online, the pages did not line up and we'd have to jump around to find the same input areas. Again, very frustrating. To top it off, product was the exact same price online so we paid for a net loss in time. I'll use this again but not the desktop version. 2019 turbo tax. You need to fix this disconnect.

Clarity
The program does not address change of address and principal residence condition very well.It assumes you sold one place if you move. so to get it fixed you need to use the Easy Step method as it does not allow the change to be made in a logical form.

Disappointed
I paid for Premier to deal with Capital Gains. I found the program was terrible in this regard even though I used Easy Steps. I repeatedly input my data. Terms used were not defined. Anyway, it was quite unpleasant.

Problem with Forms & Printing
I found that the system carried forward some old information on the statement of real estate. This should have cleared. I also had a lot of duplicate form printing. I'm not sure if this is my new printer or the Turbo Tax. I'm not having problems with other software???

Tech support poor
The tax software is really good and easy to use. This year I did my taxes and decided to print & file the following day. When I tried to open my file I got an error code TT403 ( file possibly corrupted). I contacted tech support and the person I talked to had strong accent and we were not able to fix the problem. I was very frustrated and had to do my taxes all over again from the beginning. Second time around was OK.

Good basic directions

Late forms
TurboTax premier canada is more expensive than other similar software but returns can only be printed with last update on February 28 2019. It keeps on printing forms for principal residence even if there is no property sales. And last but not least it would be nice if it could import directly from securities brokers without going through Quicken.

Not Great for Non-Residents
While the program handles it being used by a non-resident, there are many instances where the basic program for a resident Canadian taxpayer has been modified only in part to accommodate its use by a non-resident. A simple example . You indicate you are a non-resident but then the program flags you for entering an address that is not in the Canadian format using a Postal Code. This happens often throughout the program. Workarounds are available but the program needs work. I would happily use the program if I were a Canadian resident. Very powerful.

Slow but ok
I found this version (2017) of Turbo Tax to be extremely slow in performing ever task. Each time I pressed "Continue" or "Enter" it took a very long time to move forward. Very frustrating. Apart from that, otherwise ok. I'll know better when I get my assessment.

Continues to have glitches
I have used Turbo Tax Premium for the past few years and have noticed glitches and/or shortcomings. To name a couple: 1) At first, I was using it on a laptop computer and I noticed that the big red tax "balance owing" in Easy Step would mysteriously become significantly larger when I closed the file and, without making further changes, opened it the next day. This year, I experimented by using Turbo Tax on the laptop and then using it on a desktop, while entering the exact same data for each. Surprise! The balances were different (a higher balance on the laptop). Still can't figure out why this happened, but it's made me curious about past year returns and I'll soon check them over. 2) Over the years, I found that switching back and forth between Easy Step and forms/T-slips wasn't always smooth and transparent. For example, it wouldn't return me to the same place in Easy Step. 3) Turbo Tax Premium seems to ask you to "save" even when you haven't changed any information. It makes things a bit confusing at times. And, at times, the software seems glitchy when you just choose "Save" as opposed to "Save As." I came to put more trust in "Save As." 4) At the end of Easy Step, Turbo Tax forces you to choose between getting an emailed assessment or a paper copy...yet it doesn't offer the option to indicate that you already signed up for email notifications in the past.
