Help function not helpful
The software was easy to use BUT the little questions took hours to figure out as the help search function did not seem to work & was not helpful. One example, trying to find what Country Code was for the T1135...

Needs tweaking
1. The "Sale of Your Principal Residence" screen that comes up near the end of the Income and Expenses profile is very confusing when it has already been stated that a principal residence was not sold. Wasted a lot of time trying to decide whether an entry here was required. 2. Why does the "Auto fill my Return" screen pop up all the time? Very annoying. Add it as a menu selection or to the top tool bar. 3. TurboTax gets confused if I did not enter something correctly in the profile and later correct it. I had to go back to profile and indicate there was a T5007 form to enter. Then TT did not automatically direct me to Netfile after I printed forms. I wasted a ton of time trying to get it to Netfile this return. 4. When a smaller text size is selected, it should be remembered until a different size is selected for that return.

Okay, but not worth the extra cost
This was my first time buying the premier version. I didn't see enough differences in this product from the lower priced versions to justify the higher price. Also, it is annoying that I can't just buy a product that does 2 returns for spouses. I can buy individual ones or enough to do 12 but not 2 individual ones for spouses. Buying 2 individual ones are about the same price as buying 12 which is ridiculous. I have always used QuickTax and now TurboTax but will consider other options as the price just seem way too high now.

Times Are Changing
So I looked at importing the tax reporting slips from CRA but the information was overwhelming and I did not see why I would accept it ie. T5008 for every brokerage transaction!
Took the EasyPrep route but did not get prompted to transfer data from my prior year So had to re-enter the ID stuff, etc.
Some questions are dumb ie most recently when efiling it asks "set-up CRA paperless?" then if you answer YES it wants the email address. I said NO (it doesn't ask if you already have it) so does it take away paperless? What about my email address?
As I said last year it would be nice to be able to cut, copy, paste, etc. during data input.

Problems with TurboTax 2017
Doesn't tell you that you can't Netfile if you are logged into the CRA website. Doesn't tell you that you can't get instant Notification of Assessment if you are not signed up for CRA e-mail.

Not sure I get value for the money I pay
This is not the first time I use the premier version and I don't think it is getting better the amount of money I pay.
I still have to do manual trials of moving things between me and my spouse to see where do i get the best return.I expect the software to tell me more and more optimizes and recommends actions. I am not talking the smart tips.

Some Cautions
Turbo tax does not let you go back to change mistakes easily with easy-steps. if you use the forms method too often you are not allowed to do what you wish without an override. And cancelling an override later is difficult. There is not enough explanation about filling in the Rental Form T776. And this after paying for the Premier version.

I found this year turbo tax was very difficult. I was not able to check off a lot of areas that I could do last year. And the ads in between inputting information was very distracting. Why not have the ads at the end or the beginning.

could it be more complicated?
Why can't the program recognize 4 to 5 years of previous information stored on the same computer and be a bit intuitive and ask is all this info current? and asking the same question3 and 4 times especially on rental property info. Overall I find it very frustrating to use. It could be much more streamlined.

Medical Expenses and the related CREDIT should show on the summary . It looks like it not properly disclosed. And it's confusing for those of us completing the return, we'd like to know the impact the amount of the excess expenses actually claimed , etc.

Don't buy software disc...buy online and download
Unable to install software via disc using Windows 10.Has happened before when using disc. Had to import all data off disc to computer then was able to install.

Allocating form T5008
Software does not allow you to share income with your spouse for a T5008 if you auto filled that slip. Nor can you change the info even if it is incomplete. Auto fill is nice but you still need a procedure to correct or change info.

Still glitches
Generally works OK. However, still does not give an accurate total "Total Income" if you use pension splitting. It counts the "pension split" twice!

So-so
Program has too many bugs. Tried to enter a field, - got error telling me I could not override the field based on data entered elsewhere. OK. Double clicked on the field, expecting it to take me to the originating data. Nope. Had to guess and poke around to find it. Some of the "Print" buttons don't display correctly, leaving you to guess. Too many ads, etc.

Problematic
There is something wrong with this years version. I have been using Turbo Tax for years and it has been great. This year I had to spend many hours of frustration just to send the net file to CRA. Also I had trouble with investment info.

Good but challenges
I have used this program for many years. This year I had problems going into boxes to input numbers (lines with no sub form) and the numbers only showing when I went onto another line. Also I had problems inputting the Home Buyers amount - I did not think the help explained that two people could use the $5,000 amount.

Sometimes confusing
I find the version for this year could be confusing at the times. for example, it wanted to review if I had sold my principle property although I had at the beginning claimed that I didn't...again, after I successfully filed to CRA online, it appeared to circle me back to 'ready to file' page again!

Premier is weak
Premier input is weak. I electronically input all my security transactions, and the software lead me to believe that I was done, even though I knew I was not. It should immediately have prompted me to input the blank book value, and also to select the type of income. It took me 2 hours to find the solution.

Prevent Users from Entering Invalid information
Purchased Premier version as I had fair amount of stock activity in year. Tried to Autofill form including T5008. Found out after a few frustrating hours that items downloaded in Autofill could not be amended. As well, you could not Autofill only a few forms ( ie. T3, T5 only). This was a change by CRA in 2017, I learnt, and am frustrated Turbotax did not put up a note advising users of this change when trying to autofill.

Some mprovement needed
