Worse than previous years
Very frustrating to use this year. Every time the software updated itself I had to re-register the product and re-input in the Installation key every time. I also didn't like the fact that I had to continually adjust the text size.

Better than filling paper forms
Turbotax is better than filling in the paper forms, However, there are unnecessary complications in the software and odd misses which need to be checked. Also, when asking for support, I received none but did get case number. When using Netfile, Turbotax stopped responding and had to be restarted for each filling although email confirmation was received that the Netfile was successful, because Turbotax hung, it did not give me a whole lot of confidence.

Sorta glitchy
Navigation can be tricky, and sometimes glitchy, if you're going back and forth. The interface is somewhat windows 2000 style, if you care about that stuff.

Still Issues wuth more complex returns
The product is quick and easy for simple returns, but not so much for more complex returns - particularly when doing combined spousal returns. For example, splitting T5008 info must be done manually. Also when finishing up, after clicking "No more returns to file" the program loops back to the "Ready to File" section. Happened in 2016 version too.

Ok but some bugs need fixing
Noticed a few bugs: some answers are not saved and revert back to old answers (ex RL24) / sometimes some answers are impossible to change (ex put in school fees which resulted in lower return - could not remove)
Building scenarios for tax optimization requires to start a new return from scratch: Forms should be on a platform and then pulls information to build scenarios.

Worst year yet
This is the first of many years that I purchased Turbotax and it was always easy to use. Perhaps because I am still using Windows 7, this year when I had to go back to check something I had to go back page by page rather than being able to jump to the section I needed. Think I will try another product next year. This is a costly product and it has taken me more than 5 hours to do my tax and I still am not sure I can file on line. I finally got it printed and not to try to file it electronically. Wish me luck

Confusing
We have used Turbo Tax for years, but found this year's edition to be confusing. So much information that doesn't apply pops up. It seemed to take longer to complete our returns this year in comparison to other years.

User Interface is Annoying
"Auto Fill My Return" needs to be turned off after first use.
Donation calculator does not update return; you have to manually go to the form.
Annoying number of pages to go through after printing your return.
Updates just say "minor enhancements" or "bug fixes"; this is not helpful!
You need to review the user interface for easy of use, and not to berate the user with new features!!!

Problems with the T5008 forms will not allow income or capital gains splitting between spouses even if the account is joint. Means that software doesn't work unless you file as is then apply for a reassessment after getting your first assessment back.

Unhappy
Not good if you have capital gains. Limited to 30 transactions and the dialogues weren't intuitive to follow. Had to correct manually and extensively in Schedule 3. Also, does not convert foreign currency during autofill from CRA site. Same complaints as last year.

Overall a good purchase. But need better details on what rental property owners can claim (specify what types of legal expenses, etc). I missed out on several things i was able to claim because i didn't know i was allowed to. Turbo tax wasn't very helpful in this area.

Problem Plagued Program
This years version is the worst one that I have used in the past 3 years. It wouldn't. allow me to put in banking expenses and I couldn't get any help by asking questions.
The program frequently stuttered and I had difficulty using the bookmark feature . In past years I had purchased the CD version and it seemed to work much better than the on-line one I purchased this year.

Bring back the forms to the bottom of the task bar
I found that reviewing the rental forms was more difficult than previous years. If I wanted to double check everything I had to re_enter the information. Annoying since I had already entered the information. I used to be able to open the forms from the task bar at the bottom. That was a far better way of getting through my taxes.

You need to make it easier to fill in work expenses if one has any. I had a hard time the last three tax years finding the forms to fill in. It was just this year that I was able to find the correct forms. Even then, I am not 100% sure if I filled in the information correctly.

why can't I file
The software is straightforward enough, but after all of the review, warnings, tax tips, saving and printing, it will not let me webfile. The software bounces me back to the T1 form. If I try to go directly to netfile it does the same thing. Useless

Normally excellent, but one problem this year
This is the fourth year I have used Turbotax and generally I am very pleased. There is a new Ontario credit this year: the seniors public transit tax credit. This was extremely hard to enter. Others have had this problem and the advice on the discussion site sounded good but it did not work. I had to phone for advice and the agent admitted it was not possible to find it, so I accepted his advice and entered the amount under "Transit passes" (which it really isn't in our case) and it then showed up under Ontario credits. Turbotax needs to make this easier to deal with. I spent more time on this small credit than everything else combined. That is why my rating is not as high as it might be. Otherwise I am really pleased with Turbotax.

Installation
Installation process was difficult and frustrating! After three or four tries, it finally started but to my dismay, it was an American version referring to their forms and not Canadian forms. Once I got started a pop-up appeared on the screen saying there was a script problem on that page and did I want to correct it before I proceeded, No matter if I clicked "yes" or "no'', the pop-up would remain and I could change the screen or anything. After clicking yes or no several times it would go away just appear as soon as moved to the next entry. This continued ad nauseum for the entire program! I trust you will have these problems fixed before the 2018 forms.

requires more attention
i have been using ur product fir 5 years.
this year i found many errors.
1- on T5 calculation it did not take in effect the 50%
2- for qst rebate on quebec forms, even though i said i had a qst rebate it was not included on line 459
i thimk next year i may change to ufile, unless a rebate is giving to me this year

glitchy
Seemed to end up in endless circle at end with software saying file has change do you want to safe and if you do or don't it keeps coming back to that question. just gave up and ended step by step.
also seems to be telling me to netfile a second time in a loop like above which could only end by exiting from step by step.
the above occurred on two returns I have completed so far. those two returns were not done in tantam.
