2016 version unstable
I've used turbo tax for the last several years without any troubles, but the 2016 year version has had multiple problems with data entry points that do not allow input until after trying over 100 times. Even manual override did not work properly to input into cells I have input into for the last five years without trouble. Hopefully these glitches are resolved or I may not repurchase.

capital gains/losses comments
The section calculating capital gains and losses needs to be reworked in order to become more user friendly for complex transactions involving multiple years and partial dispositions.

Disappointed this year
I feel that the quality in helps has deteriorated. After taking one of the suggestions about holding back some charitable donation, obviously my taxes owing changed drastically. Just try to get back there and undo it. Every surrounding page would open but not the one I wanted. It also wanted to give me arbitrary dates for claiming medical expenses, problem was, some of the dates it was giving, were dates claimed last year, therefore would not work. That was also a pain to undo, it kept changing the dates I entered. Overall, I was disappointed this year comparing to years past. Have used the program for more than 10 years.

Miscalculations
I have found an ongoing problem with how Turbo Tax calculates income and expenses (same issue every year). If you are not the sole owner of the property, double check that it is correctly deducting your expenses as well as ensure you are only paying tax on your fair share of the income.
Overall easy to use, but not sure there is any more value in the 'premiere' edition, which I tried this year. I would stay with the standard, as from what I can see, it asks the same questions and does the same calculations

TurboTax 2016 Premier - a bust
For the last 14 years I bought intuit quicken/turbo tax suites to keep track of my finances and simplify my tax filing. I was very happy with the software and I upgraded every year to keep up with the improvements. Then, all of a sudden, without any warning TurboTax decides to cancel the import from Quicken functionality. I was buying TurboTax Premier for that functionality alone! I certainly hope that those in power to do anything about this will reverse their bottom line focused decision making and put back some of the functionality that we have grown accustomed to.

Premier what
I paid significantly more for this product because the box suggested that it gave support for rentors. I found nothing useful beyond the standard version I used last year. Very frustrated that I spent the extra money.

Good tax product marred by poor file management
While it's easy to use and seems to be accurate, I have been very frustrated with continually losing my work due to lost data and lost files. It's very frustrating to have to re-enter information previously entered because TurboTax has lost the data. For this reason, I will not be using this product again.

Some Limitations
#1. Interest and dividends on joint accounts can be split by just ticking a box on a coupled return, but the same can't be done for sale of securities subject to capital gains that are held in the very same joint account that earned the interest and dividends.
#2. There is a limit of (I think) 78 transactions on the sale of securities subject to capital gains. There was no caution at the outset to say there was such a limit nor warning or notice when I hit the limit. It just automatically switched to the other person on the coupled return. Add a caution, give notice when a user reaches the limit, or better yet, increase the limit to, say, 200 or 250.

Annoying error message
Have purchased TT for many years now. I do like what it has to offer, but this year there was a very annoying error message that popped up on every single page indicating an error occurred in the script. Had to hit enter several times on every page. Somewhat took away from the user experience. Wish it could have been fixed in a patch before I got to it. I did leave the taxes to the last minute so I expect a couple of benefits for being a procrastinator.
Also felt a little bit jipped to have had to buy Premier just to enter a few stocks that I sold this year. I knew the capital gains on them so why pay more to have the software give me something I already knew. Not cool!

I added Dependent in easy steps and later couldn't take it out and after couple of days, finally went thru the Forms and manually took it out. Easy steps doesn't cover all of the steps and you have to go some menus to figure out.

TT Premiere value LOW
I used TT Premiere for the extra promised feature related to handling the investments.
1) When I tried to download the forms from the government site the download was partial, complaining that it was not able to download all the forms.
2) When I tried to load the investment records (manually) into the T5008 I was not able as the TT only accepts 30 records for this form. If the Premiere version can only accept 30 records how come it is sold for investment taxation purposes?

Bugs needs to be fixed
The form for claiming tax credits in Quebec for more than two eligible relatives is missing in software. I've contacted technical support. They didn't pay attention what I said. And they kept saying that i should revise my information entered. Very disapppointed. For sure next year i will not use Turbotax.

Needs Fixing
The medical expense optimizer and the donation optimizer needs fixing. this flaw was pointed out to you several years ok.
the optimizer shifts all expenses to the spouse with the lower net income. this might be ok in 70% of the cases but is not always right. like in my instance the discrepancy was over $4,000.

Script Error
The program was great.
The CD would not download automatically, I needed to do it through the computer. When I updated the program before starting, I got a script error show up and no matter what I did to solve the problem it did not work (Re-install, uninstall/reinstall, changed web browsers, deleted web history etc) Had to get rid of the the script error box each time before i was able to continue to any other window. A royal pain!

Some Issues
I used this program to file 7 returns this year. I found the program this year was not up to the quality of previous years. In places it was repetitive (using the clergy deduction) and could not always take the information required (negative RRSP room). I will be looking for something else for my tax work next year.

good for investors too much for normal people
I have used Turbo Tax for 7 years. I have loved it for regular tax situations. Fast and easy. However My tax situation has changed to being just on the edge of being more complicated. The Premier version would be great for people with small businesses or significant investment portfolios; however with my situations of only having one T5 to enter and a small side business without things I was deducting as business expenses and losses - it was over kill. Too many questions and forms to filter through just to put one number in.

Fix Script Error for CD Users
Have faithfully used turbotax for years without issue. This year I encountered constant script errors. Product support was not really helpful. Found a posting where someone uninstalled and downloaded the software rather than re-installing from disk. This fixed the issue. This tells me there should be a patch for the disc version - or simply provide instructions on how to uninstall and download.

Medical expense form flawed
This year for the first time, after entering each medical expense on the entry form, most were not transferred to the medical worksheet, THEREFOR TOTAL WAS INCORRECT
Overriding total medical expenses to correct amount AS ADVISED BY TURBO TAX prevented net filing.
I was forced to cancel overrides before I could net file.
Very annoying. Result is that my refund will be about $ 400 less than what it should be & I will have to waste more time to correct this with a T1ADJ

Poor front page
I've used Turbo Tax for at least the last 5 years however this year was frustrating as the opening page on easy step had changed. Going thru the program, I kept waiting for it to ask for last years info....unknown to me you now have to scroll down the first page to transfer last years return info. Once your past the first page you are out of luck...I had to redo my returns from begining to end to add last years info....I'm sure I was not the only one caught this way. Poorly thought out opening page.

First Time TT user
For the most part Turbo Tax was good but I did find some of the questions confusing and vague.
It took a lot of work to figure out RRSP carry forward and even the TT help line needed a day to go back and find how to do this.
Otherwise I would recommend it to do your own tax.

US Turbo Tax is much better
The format of the US Turbo Tax is much more user friendly. Would be goo if you show inputs from previous year in the summaries and improve the edit feature. Getting back to edit charitable contributions if you have more than one is very difficult!
