good but issues
I experienced a few significant problems.
1. I couldn't run the application from my normal desktop, I had to create a new login desktop. Support could not resolve this issue after 30 minutes.
2. The software checked for updates but could not install the updates.

Some of easy steps lack explanation
for example Rent Aid fields are only available on the forms or if home ownership credit selected in provincial.
Also CCA interview steps are completely not informative, we were only able to make sense of it looking at form directly

Software needs work
The software is a little rough in some areas. The software could do a better explanation of paying CPP on other income which is not reported on a T-slip.

Fairly User Friendly
I think for a basic file this program is easy to use. I contribute to the Saskatchewan Pension Plan and had a difficult time trying to find where to put it. Even tho I had checked it off in the profile, I did not get a prompt when I bypassed it. I poked around for quite some time in the RRSP and Deductions and Credits areas trying to find where to put it; I finally found it, but it definitely took the Turbo out of Turbo Tax for me! The program would have let me file my return without entering it, hence the 3 stars! I also have a rental property that I co-own and found this area a little confusing too. Still much better than a tiny lined tax form!

Update and print problems
I experienced great difficulty initializing update downloads which never loaded so I used the original version. I then tried to print but the program kept hanging up after about 3-4 pages. In addition I was not prompted to add prepayment of tax anywhere and had to enter these payments manually later. A very unsatisfactory experience.

Software OK - help is useless
After initial installment, there was some trouble with entering info. This was only resolved after multiple reloads using purchased CD.
Help function is useless when you cannot establish contact with online or telephone contacts.
In particular, I was never able to speak with a live person to resolve any issues, since I was never able to get a phone number
The only reason I continue to use this product vs switch to another on line provider is that I have filed previously with it, and it is still easier to be able to utilize historical filing info for tax purposes that way.

Misleading recommendation
I don't like how Turbo Tax recommends the Premier version giving the user the impression that they will not have access to needed modules or forms. It should specify that the forms will be there and accessible even if not using the premier version.

Not worth the extra money
TurboTax Premier does not offer any significant advantage to the Basic version. Don't waste mony on the upgrade unless you need it.

Quick Review
We have used Turbo Tax Premier for the last three years, however couple of things that make life harder, 1. would not locate last years file as it was internet purchased so we had to retype all of our information, 2. completed a section and the realized we used the wrong one, so removed it, however when we printed the tax return the information was not removed from the forms. Other than these issues it okay but we feel expensive.

adequate but buggy
autofill didn't work and crashed my computer
TT Premier also automatically assumed an amount of capital cost deduction which I did not want forcing me to read the help menu to find out how to continue

Had the following issues. First time user
1. Took awhile to understand how to move out and in from the normal flow.
2. Would like to print part of return, ie pages 5 - 7. Doesn't allow.
3. Entered t5008, but didn't divide by 50% or enter into return. Very confusing and time wasted. Had to do things manually to figure it out. Lucky I checked.
4. Recommend Turbotax for simple returns

CPP Optimizer, What Optimizer?
The software suggest you "Explore" when to start CPP using "the CPP Optimizer". There is no optimizer in this software. It is hogwash....

Not straight forward to troubleshoot
I have been using the software for over 10 years (formerly Quicken). It is the best available option, though it by no means is the best software ever.
When you have issues, it is very difficult to troubleshoot your tax return.
Canadians deserve better.

OK product but needs sophistication
This return package is very rudimentary and does not make effective use of the continued use. Ie it asks you if you wish to carry a capital loss back but does not remember if you had capital gains in prior three years. It is also dumb in that it does not remember the incomes and slips from prior years to promp use whether they should look for a slip.

You need to upgrade the program to allow for additional entries on Form T5008. Your current program only allows for a maximum of 30 entries. In a more active broker managed account this is not sufficient.

Premier Not as Simple
Usually would give 5 stars, but last year I bought a rental property and hoped Premier would walk me through my return as easy as it had the last 6 years I'd used Turbo Tax. No luck. Was left scratching my head often in regards to 50% partnerships and CCA etc. Nothing is explained very well. Not enough to click on to get descriptions or examples or proper instruction.

good once installed
Once you get this installed it works well, but the initial install took a couple of hours and then the updates are a disaster. This is a very frustrating product as it took less time to do 4 taxes than the mucking around with installation. The registration process never did work despite trying 4 times. They really need to fix the install and update and registration process.

Hard to read
For those of us who are visually impaired, the on screen instructions are VERY difficult to read. The font is too small and the text is too light. The contrast button does nothing to improve this/ I love using Turbo Tax and always have. The on screen this tax year is terrible and should be tested by Visually Impaired people prior to release ro ensure ease of use. Even this text is near impossible to read.

Unable to install from the provided cd
Bought the software but was unable to install from the provided CD, I been using TurboTax for many years tis was the first time this happen. I had to go to the website to install what I paid for.

TurboTax is generally easy to use. However I found this years version complex and laborious as regards printing. For example, the first page tells you the order the pages should be, and then prints them in a different order. e.g. Pension Income Worksheet and joint election for Pension Spltting

Good BUT for bad updates
Have used this software for several years. This is the first year I had to uninstall and re-install the software 2 times because it would not update. A bit annoying hence the lower star ratings!
