Cheaper products are available. I have used this software for years (Quick Tax/Turbo Tax) however, getting to pricy and harder to use....

i always purchased to standard form and was able to do simple rental income. This year I has to buy the premier version for $35.00 more. NOT HAPPY. Will look for alternative next year.

It would be helpful to have a tax return counter so you know how many returns you have done and how many are left.
When you have a dependent on a parents return there should be the option of doing the dependents whole tax return instead of just putting the net income on the dependent screen.

the software does my taxes fine but it goes into repeat cycles when you print a copy and most upsetting, after I netfiled, got my confirmation, it wanted me to file again. It makes even a tech savy guy question himself. This is the government and money we are dealing with.

This year the software is hard to follow and does not easily allow for updates post interview. I have used the software for over 15 years and this is the first year I have ever struggled or had errors. Return to the previous version for next year.

I have used this product for many years and have it to be mostly useful, except in cases where donations come into play. While doing my taxes this year, I was unable to file electronically because of a an over ride the software claimed I applied under the donation section. The directions to turn it off where not effective and did not work. My wife filed electronically, but I had to print and mail mine. We have seen this in past years as well. It does make me question purchasing his software. While it is a bit cheaper than a professional preparation, the aggravation caused makes me consider simply bringing my documents to a service and being done with it.

I have used Turbo tax for more than 5 years, with complete satisfaction. This year 2015, my 2014 Inc.Tx Report has been painful. I ue Easy Steps method routinely. This year there was a glitch in the Quebec section, with reporting Income splitting with my spouse. Your help section tried very hard but had to escalate the resolution 2 levels higher before resolution. I have to give credit to your people that they tried hard, were patient and courteous and the bug was notobvious and easy to fiind. Once that was done I was able to complete my report. Then the filing section gave me difficulty with my phone number which was"not correct". Had to call again for help. Phone number was correct. The issue was an entry "N/A" ON THE WORK PHONE LINE which had to be deleted. Finally I was able to file. Next year needs to be easyer!

It does the job but there are still major flaws in the design. In particular you cannot paste into many sub-fields (e.g. dividend info on T3 slips) and you can't scan in the T slips you have to enter them manually. If these were fixed I'd give it a good rating.

As a first time user it felt too much like filling out the forms myself. I expected the computer to take away more of the burden of understanding the tax code. It kept asking questions like "do you qualify for the whatsit credit" and I'd have to click the link and read the terms and conditions to figure it out. terms like "are you over 65 or living alone and have 1 dependent." TurboTax already asked my birthday, so it should know if I'm over 65. It should just ask if I live alone and have dependents, along with similar questions relevant for other credits, then it could figure out what credits I qualify for without making me study all the tax code. That would be a much better user experience. I laughed when it asked "You have indicated you have 0 children. Over how many of these do you have joint custody?" Really? The software can't figure that out?

I bookmarked a page and when I tried to return to that page, it wouldn't open by clicking bookmark.
I couldn't find where to put my capital losses to future years.
Had a hard time netfiling a return or can you not netfile if you owe money - it didn't give me a reason.

I purchased the basic at the store and when I upgraded I ended up paying and additional $60, the same I would have paid for at the store so I wasted the money I paid for the basic package... live and learn Next time I will purchase the one from the competition online, cheaper by almost 50% of what I paid for this software

Not worth the extra cost from base version, Adds many questions that needlessly slows down return preparation. Could print netfile federal confirmation but not quebec confirmation for some reason. Constant pop up error screen with Explorer. Keyed inputs off of review screen were not accepted or did not show as input.

Support for Canadian tax issues was referred to mid west US office, with staff who claimed to be fully trained and conversant with the Canada Income Tax Act. This was far from the case. Intuit should have amended its program to eliminate directions to file Form T1135 by mail to the designated office in Ottawa. The mailing requirement for individuals was eliminated by CRA on Feb. 9, 2015. Why did Intuit not issue an amendment?

I find the easy steps not so easy. When it comes to tax time, I have a stack of papers and would find it easier just to enter them one at a time. Select a form and enter the box numbers (repeat) until I run out of forms. The way it's set up now, I have to know which category a paper form applies to and select it in the questionnaire section. Problem is I'm not 100% sure and going back to fix a selection to have the system ask me to enter it isn't all that obvious.

Awarding rating stars is difficult without trying the competitors product. You still don't allow copy and paste, or copy from a spread sheet to record capital gains or losses - making a huge typing job unavoidable. Your help file is of not much help. Searching for help on a line number or field name often returns "no topic found". Clicking on a generated value in a field warns that you cannot change it, but no help as to how or where it was generated. Your annual changes are not improvements.

When saving your return to a pdf..the itemized lists and worksheets are not included. For example, a list of all charitable donations or medical expenses are NOT in the saved pdf package. You have to go back into the file and find the worksheet and print separately. This can be problematic if you change computers over the years, or need quick reference from the saved printed copy. This has been a problem for years.

Tax software should be perfect with no glitches. Especially since it updates when opened. Turbo Tax had several glitches, especially in common forms like T5013 that caused me an hour of aggravation trying to find the proper way to force the program to allow me to Netfile. Other forms did not have compatible box numbers, or required going to a second menu. We could also do without the advertising for additional services.

RRSP and Donation Optimizer not working, especially donation optimizer. It simply ask me to carry forward all the donation on my wife, who has lower income. This is entirely wrong.

I made the mistake when entering personal information of entering my spouse's information as well and ticking the box which commands the program to file our returns together. This seemed handy in that you have both returns on one screen together. However, the program lumps the charitable donations together and only one of the two can claim them. If you attempt to override this, you cannot netfile. Moreover, this can't be undone in order to separate the returns. I had to recreate two new files and re-enter my information for both my spouse and I. this wasted considerable time.

Turbo Tax is a pretty good program but you still need a good handle on what deductions you can claim. Visit the CRA website and spend some time poking around. For instance, I've been using this program and it's predecessors for 19 years. They've yet to figure out a way for the program to prompt me about the Northern Residents Deduction. I mean every year I input the city I live in, but they don't use that info to prompt the question. I have to switch to Forms view and fill in the forms myself. If they miss that, what else do they miss?

Disappointing program for 2014 tax year. It was not very user friendly and did not have any tax tips or very hard to change an entry in some sections as you couldn't back up to a previous page and correct something. You had to experiment till you finally fumbled on a way to change it. Not good in guiding you along. I was very happy with 2013 version of the Premier. I hope they return to that format.

Although the straight forward information for preparing the final tax returns for my deceased relative and his widow was easy to enter, I became very frustrated with the lack of ability of this tax program to integrate the information from both spouses necessary for pension splitting. The program would not adapt to the nuances of this context. I finally had to do a manual override for some entries which prevented me from being able to submit a return using netfile for the surviving spouse. I also had to manually correct the address information on the income splitting declaration. The whole point of purchasing Turbo Tax was to be able to submit returns electronically. Unacceptable experience.

I paid more for the automatic download than I would have paid at a retail outlet
