I have used Turbo tax for several years, I am very disappointed with this years program I cannot PRINT a copy of the returns for my file. Why has this not been corrected?

Poor Value!
We were sold this product with the promise that it could be used for more than one tax return, but only the first return file would upload, all others rejected. "HELP" told us that there were no errors in the files and there shouldn't be a problem, so no real help was received. This makes TurboTax VERY expensive if we need to purchase one per person in our household. We would not recommend this product to anyone. We will be using a competitors product, that is being supplied by our bank for FREE, to finish filing this year, and in the future.

Not user friendly
I did not find this year's version to be user friendly. When attempting to get answers it would divert to questionable popups that my virus program identified as not safe.

A few problems
The auto net file worked the first time but not the next 2 times.
It should be able to look at your income and decide for you if the tax credits apply to you.
I would think that everyone wants any credits or programs that you are eligible for.
Adding medical expenses didn't reduce taxes in any way. I don't know why and I don't know why I would claim them if it wasn't going to reduce my tax payable.
I also allowed me to add physical activity memberships for my child who is too old to be eligible. It didn't reduce my taxes and it didn't say why. It knows how old my child is so it should just tell me he is ineligible.

Back to the forms
Since tax is a once a year sport, you tend to forget where all the parts go. That is the major reason I am using a tax program for my tax return. I expect that the easy steps would take me through the steps I have forgotten and it doe's to a large extend but alas I find that every year, and I have used the program for many years, i have to go to the form view to input the last two things. It is irritating since they should have been there. This year I had expenses on investment and foreign tax exemption to battle.

Comprehensive and Expensive
I've used the program for years, but with the constant price hikes I seriously considered the many alternatives to TTax. The only reason I recommitted this year is the record of personal information and stock transactions the program carries over from year to year. I think I'm ready to move to a cheaper alternative, however, given the greater simplicity of my tax status.

It is often inaccurate. The Optimizer for Medical Expenses and Charitable contributions gave wrong values. My friend who is a CPA steered me in the right direction
The Help line doesn't seem to "help", or certainly no chat was available every time I tried

Not so "Common" law
Wasn't as user friendly as I would have liked. I only stumbled upon how to do two returns simultaneously to use the optimizer. I went back in to change some data to find that no files were saved but somehow the data about being common-law partners stuck. There should be some preamble of how to start files that could benefit using the optimizer. As well, the Pro Review was not worth the money spent. I thought I was getting support for the possibility of an audit or review. It ended up not helping me at all except perhaps with a little peace of mind. But not worth the amount spent.

Same Old
I subscribe to Montley Fool who rated your parent company as a buy. I have been aware of the old Canadian parent for +10 years so you are not new to me.
Basically I didn't buy the company stock since I am still not impressed with the products use! The new find feature makes it usable although it should have a constant "Back" feature with forms and everything else for that matter.
It feels like you have taken an old product and cluged in a new user interface. Your help screens tell you what to do when they should actually be LIVE links to get you right there.

need more consistancy...
Need better continuity from year to year.... filling out the forms kept changing... also 1. did not carry over some business totals CCA from year to year... also does not allow you to find you maximize refunds/minimize payment when it comes to capital gains/losses carry forward/back...

Buggier than I would expect by now
The program walks you through the process and does a decent job of explaining concepts, usually. But avoid the online version! I had to create a new account twice because the "forgot password" function is a mess. I ended up making a last-minute run to a store to buy a physical copy. Again, decent, but it refused to recognize that I had opted out of some deductions (e.g. moving expenses) and tried to force me to enter data in those forms; even printed them against my wishes. Pages print out of order, which is pain since they're not numbered consecutively. Overall, I'm glad I didn't have to do this without the software, but i expected it to be FAR better than it is.

Not always user friendly
I don't find it easy to find some of the schedules needed at times. It would be nice to see the verbiage be a bit more user friendly to everyone and not just the accounting savvy. Using technical terms to explain a technical term is not always very helpful. Definitely think you need to have done returns before to use the program to it's full advantage, and also to be able to understand it fully.

eligibility
It would be nice if turbo tax would automatically determine certain obvious eligibility criteria and proceed accordingly instead of forcing me to act
eg. my 17 year old filed this year and turbo tax continuously asked if he would like to apply for GST credit which one needs to be 19 years old in order to claim

rental expenses and worksheets
It would help if more worksheets are available for each rental property. It helps to make notes and special calculations when listing a number of expenses for rental income. The categories listed under expenses are not complete to include all types of expenses.

Going Downhill
I have been a TurboTax user for many years now, I find it easy to use, covers all issues BUT THE PRINT SIZE THIS TIME IS SO SMALL i FEEL i MAY BE BLIND BY THE TIME i FINISH. HORRIBLE, WILL BE SHOPPING BEFORE i BUY THIS PRODUCT AGAIN.

Frustrating
You have changed this program and takes longer to complete. Video to show you how to file, I was not able to access this and reviewing other reviews it seems to be problem. I have used this product for years and this year totally frustrated. Will review my options next year.

not for CPP recipients
I found it frustrating trying to finish because I was getting an error which I could not fix...I am already retired and receiving CPP and it wanted to know when I wanted to stop my CPP contributions if I was between 65 and 70....I am only 63 but retired.

Time to check out the competition
The software had glitches this year. The non contributing to CPP was especially difficult. I had to redo a joint return entirely because it would not allow any changes.
It was also difficult this year to switch from ''forms'' to navigator as you could not make changes between the two - ie if you answered yes on the interview you couldn't make changes on the forms.
I was annoyed that it didn't ask if I wished to close unneeded forms before printing.
And asking if I want to use internet explorer as my browser time and time again (with no way of saying don't ask again) must have been designed to irritate your users. It succeeded.
Although I have used Turbo Tax (and Quick Tax) for the past decade, I will be checking out other tax software next year.

Need downloadable Mac version!
Turbo Tax needs to sell a downloadable or CD version of the software for Mac users. I do not want to complete the tax return on the browser. I need need to go back and re-open the tax return several times and therefore want the software on my hard drive. I do not want to be subject to the vunerability of the internet connection - wireless or otherwise.

Not a great introduction
This product would do well if it came with a tutorial. There are just so many spots where you can make a mistake even if you have sucessfully completed years worths of filing for many people using the manual method. There are spots where files can be overwritten and areas where figures don't make sense even for seasoned tax preparers.
A short tutorial like the netfile one would be a huge improvement.

Be careful entering and saving.
I found it very confusing to move from input to saving. I did my personal form and was never asked to submit joint information for my spouse. I had to redo it and enter all of the information twice.
Splitting (pro-rating) of interest income should be automatic. I had to search to figure out the way to split interest income on our joint account.
Making changes to particular input fields could not be done from the forms. One has to go back through the step by step input form for both spouses.

Beautiful but too small
As a senior my eyesight is not that great so the size of the print is very important.. I have to strain my eyes and use a magnifying glass to read your instructions. There is a huge blank white window with minimal writing at the top that is TOO SMALL and light blue in colour which does not provide sufficient contrast! If this were to be remedied for next year it would be much appreciated! I value my privacy and don't want to be forced to have someone else do my taxes because of the difficulty in reading the fine print.
