Rental Income
When I and my spouse own a rental property as co owners , I shouldn't have to enter the same information for each person . Turbo tax should do it automatically

Cheaper than an Accountant
I have purchased Turbo Tax for many years and it has been helpful. We have two rental properties so it helps me get our finances sorted out. The issue I had with Turbo Tax this year was that I wasn't able to download the updates automatically. This was a pain to have to do it manually. I would have also liked more detail explanations in the rental expense areas. All that being said I will likley purchase again next year.

Poor Advertising
Because I operate a home business I purchased the Premiun package of TurboTax. According to the information I read on the box it was the tax package designed to handle investment income as well as home business. When I got to the home business section it wanted me to update to a Home and Business package.
Do I need to buy 2 packages because I have investment income and business income??? Picking the right tax package is becoming as difficult as finding the right tax form.

Previous Year was better
Going too graphical on the GUI and lost the "advanced" menu usability. Much more difficult to "Take Me To" button. System is now MUCH slower mainly due to the GUI button not responding properly. Finally figured out that you have to click on the entire graphic button before it takes and not when it highlights. Needs refinement.

Joint Investment Trouble
Beware of joint investments with your spouse...you will have to manually divide all gains/losses in half on a calculator and manually enter the numbers. Why doesn't Turbo Tax do this for you???? SOOOOO ANNOYING!!!! Please add joint investment options next year.

I have been using the product, prev. Quick Tax for many years. I would appreciate larger and darker font for easier viewing. It is difficult to read the small and light print.

Decent, but nothing special
The Premier product, while good, doesn't seem to hold value above some of the lesser priced produccts. The main reason why we purchased this product was to track gains/losses in trading accounts, however, the biiiig downfall of this product is the inability to track this year over year. It is touted as being able to better track these things, however, all it really is able to do is auto populate a net proceeds column after you enter in your buy/sell costs and commision rates - BIG DEAL! My trading summaries provide this already at the end of the year! What trading summaries don't provide, however, is your net proceeds, if you, say, purchase stock this year, but don't sell it for 2 or 3 years as they typically only provide you with trading information for the current year. Or, if you partially sell some stock this year and sell the rest in another year. This, in my opinion is the big missing link in the Premier product.

liked program
step by step uses up a third of the screen and is not always needed
please make an easy and obvious way to click the right third of the screen on & off so i can read all the infornation on the tax screens without shifting around

ufile was better
ufile was much cheaper, able ro do more returns. Easier to enter things especially medical deductions and rental income/expenses. Alot of information didn't transfer over from ufile to turbo tax

What about MAC users?
I am now a MAC owner and was disappointed that I could not load turbo tax onto my new MAC, but had to re set up my old PC. Will not likely use turbo tax next year if there is not a MAC friendly product. I do NOT want to do my taxes on line in cyberspace.

Mistake in the review of warnings
I was advised that there were no errors and the return was ok to netfile. After submitting my return which filed successfully I was unable to file my spouse's return due to erros in the file.
I had to go online to check what the error was - for T3 there is no line 25 visible in the process - fix the error and then file.
Due to the change my return and refund changed and I am unable to refile electronically via netfile.

needs work
should be friendlier for carrying pages (deductions, losses etc. forward or back) and automatically check previous years. When certain items ie; rental property are no longer being used it should ask and then remove it from your file. Also, once I completed my forms I ended up on a page trying to sell me more stuff from Turbo Tax and I had to look around to find out how to file it; that does not do Turbo Tax and favours.

Upgrade wasn't worth it
I upgraded from Standard to Premier this year to take advantage of the investment income benefits. There was no easy step associated with optimizing investment income, and found that the $30.00 could have been spent better. I will stick with Standard in the future.

Not really easy
I found it hard to find help this year. I didn't get into Live Community easily, I gave up more than once. I also found it difficult to find a phone number to get personal help.
I was afraid to move "to the forms", as 2 years ago, I hadn't saved my work and it was all gone when I came back from the forms.
I think there should be more information for the first time user to navigate through the program. This is my 3rd year using TurboTax and I am starting to get the hang of it. I have kept copious notes, but I feel sorry for first time users.

Where's the Apple version?
I love using this for my taxes but am upset they do not have a version for my Mac. I didn't even see anything when I purchased it for the 5th time that would indicate that they do not have a Mac version so I had to pull my old computer out of storage to do my taxes. Thats the only issue I have and why I couldn't give a better overall rating.

Turbo Tax Premier
I did my daughter's tax return, and when I tried to Netfile, I got a message saying that there was an error in saving the file. Now I got to mail the Tax Return with all attachments (an extra expense)

US portion

Excellent except.......

TurboTAx 2011 fails to bring forward all carry forward information from the previous year; this could cause the taxpayer an reduced refund ( extra taxes paid) if someone was not familar with that persons previous years tax return.
