- Clunky/sluggish software. Clicking continue doesn't proceed to next page. Usually need to click buttons multiple times for the intended actions. This is on a modern computer - Horrible EasyStep flow. Always asks the same questions over and over again - Adding/replacing a hard drive / USB drive to my computer deactivate the TurboTax software license. Support requires a receipt from years ago to have it reactivated is nonsense - Keeps upselling the Tax expert feature over and over again, very annoying

The T1135 form showed me making an error in that it somehow figured that my max was greater than my year end costs...not true. It also only allowed a few entries for stocks whereas I had several

I've been long time user (over 10 yrs) I live in Quebec so were used to filing both Prov. & Fed tax returns.
But this year my wife and I separated and she also became a non resident. I've done our taxes for over 30 years so I had agreed to do them for both of us the only difference was our marital status change and my wife's relocation back to her home country.
That situation was NOT handled very well within your program, very confusing, disjointed entry information flow.... get to the end and I'm advised that my wife cannot file via netfile, must file a paper return!!
Then the printout of forms and schedules was totally wrong, missing forms and wrong information on where to send papers returns !! Not to Mention the disjointed flow on being asked to print and or safe the final returns (very redundant) was asked 3 time to do the same safe!! Remember were filing 2 returns here federal and Provincial DOUBLE THE PAIN AND HEAD ACKE!!!
Totally unimpressed with this for the price of the Premier edition! WILL HAVE TO THINK LONG AND HARD ABOUT USING YOUR SERVICE FOR NEXT YEAR!

I've bought this software for many years. This year (2023), when I loaded the CD on my computer, it loaded the launcher for the 2022 version of the software. I wasted time troubleshooting.
The reset password feature on TurboTax AnswerXChange took 3 hours to send a verification code, exceeding the 15 minute time limit. This effectively locked me out of this feature.

I have commented on this every year. On the T5008 form if there is one error from over 100 entries, you have to review, by going back and forth for all entries, until you find the one. This takes a lot of time. Also, when I do other peoples returns I use a rep ID, so the program will not import the T slips. Again this is very time consuming. I will start to look for a different tax preparation program for next year. I have made the same comments every year and there is no improvements.

The program is faulty when it comes to rental property/income. There is no provision to enter the expenses of utilities, property taxes etc.

Turbo Tax Premier HELP function is not helpful. I clicked on HELP to understand what the definition of PROPERTY that needs to be reported on a T1135 form. Turbo Tax "definition" of property lists for things that are NOT included in PROPERTY, but it does not include anything that IS INCLUDED in property. For the past 4 years, I have not filed a T1135 because I thought my foreign shares were not PROPERTY.... when in fact they are considered property. TurboTax could easily provide some text from the CRA website that explains foreign shares held at a Canadian broker are considered property, but instead the Turbo Tax definition was essentially misleading.

I found the on line help queries not very helpful and ended up talking to a person. They were very helpful. I find the watermark that gets put on the copy very annoying. I never import data from the CRA. The one time I did, I spent hours fixing up all of the errors in my return. I wanted to print out my federal return and needed to call someone to figure out how to print directly from the form screen.

normally works ok but review and assist locked forms and had to redo taxs.
Also import for spousal tax for first 60 days does not work.

Way TOO EXPENSIVE for me that only do 2 returns. I don't need to pay for 12 almost CAD$90. I would be comfortable paying about CAD$35 for just 2 returns. Also, it's very annoying the consistent pushing during the return preparation, to buy more (Audit, Review, Etc.), very repetitive. You should be more professional and only mention that/try to sale once.

The review section will not let you print both returns if filing joint return (husband and wife). It will only print the one regardless of which one you select for printing. Tried 3 different times and got the same result, only print the one return (mine), even though I select my wife's return to print. as a result I now have 4 printed copies of my return, and none of my wife's.

Longtime user no longer happy with the product. Premium not worth the price. Too many ads asking if I want help, too complicated this year to do a simple tax return. I had to Google to find answers about navigating the product because the 'Help' in the program is useless. I've used TurboTax since before it was TurboTax, but next year I'll be looking into other software programs!

Very basic Jobs are not included in this sytem. I'm technically "self-employed" as a realtor and this couldn't be more difficult to understand. Why certain supplies decresed my return and why I shouldn't utilise certain rebates was not explained. Industry Code links that don't work and GST numbers impossible to find to acquire your grants. No help included... just "pay more" for our help :( Not to mention the glitches!!!

Frustrating
Over the past few years Turbo Tax has become increasingly frustrating. I'm being told I have an Error of an invalid industry code, yet the industry code is the same I submitted last year and is showing in the list on CRA's website. The Warnings include so many useless warnings about MY NAME, did I actually sell a property?!, do I want to NETFILE back to 2017... They still show deductions such as child recreation and transit passes in the Profile questions, yet you haven't been able to claim those in YEARS. If Turbo Tax doesn't overhaul and clean up these useless tips, questions and frustrating quirks, I'll be moving to a different software next year.

The product's help features have been getting worse over time, probably to push you to pay for their "expert" advice.
Also, printed returns (sometimes you have no choice but to print out returns) often include numerous unnecessary forms. I was doing this last-minute and ran out of ink because of about 30 unnecessary pages. E.g. senior living-assistance credits for an estate account for a deceased person from a couple of years back.

This year I had to deal with numerous errors in the TurboTax application, and it seems that it is getting beyond Intuit's capability to keep it up to snuff. The worst problem of all was that I submitted an updated return to Revenu Quebec using Netfile. I got on-screen and email confirmations from TurboTax that the return was accepted but the response from Revenu Quebec at the top of the screen said exactly the opposite - the revised return was rejected because the previous return was still being processed.

I experienced great difficulty letting Turbo Tax know that I did not live outside of a Census Metropolitan area. The program just kept looping me around with warnings. I understand warnings in grey areas. But this is not a grey area. Where you live is not a grey area. The community bot was useless. Not being successful at working around the problem, I decided to proceed and ignore the warning. Well, the warning came up again when I tried to netfile my completed tax form. So, I went through it again with the same results. This warning even came up when trying to file my T1135. I was working on this issue on April 29th and April 30th. I would think every taxpayer living in Ontario would be trying to get the Climate Action Incentive. Because this alleged problem still existed on the 2nd last day for filing taxes on time, I believe that it is a user error, and not turbo tax's error. What did I do wrong?

fix errors is a joke. with 300 capital gains transactions, missing inserting "Capital Gain" in one of these transactions means the program wont close, and you cannot Net file. Either allow batch process of transaction type, or clearly identify the transaction missed.

Electronic submission of T1135 forms with more than 3 country codes is not supported. T5 forms with box 27 set to a foreign currency assume CDN currency without warning to the user. The product shows no sign of ongoing enhancements to address known limitations.

The T5008 "Capital Gains or Investment" step is a needless nightmare. I spent four hours entering "Capital Gains" for over 150 entries. And the running value of my return never changed which means the info was already there. But I can't eEfile without going through each step. And if one is omitted...NOTHING to indicate which one so start over. And the regular process requires scrolling from the top each time. This issue is not new and I won't be buying again if not fixed

Be careful when entering details of rental income and expenses. It is not intuitive and is bug ridden

While trying to netfile the program froze every step of the way. And had to wait 30 seconds for it to continue, super annoying.

I entered Box 26 from my T3 but it triggered self-employment entries although we weren't self-employed. It cost me a phone call to Turbotax which corrected the issue until I tried to file it with CRA and the system rejected it totally so I had to delete Box 26 that was on the T3 for some reason. Great frustration over 4 days of trying.

It wasn't clear that when you pay for Expert Review so you could ask questions on your own return that you couldn't get advise since I did a combined return with my wife. This is even if my questions related only to my return and the answer wouldn't affect my wife's return. I couldn't get a refund even though I didn't receive advise or review.

I submitted our returns to CRA, but I haven't seen the returns in our CRA account. In addition, I did not receive a code for successful submission to CRA after filled.
