disappointing
Turbotax charges extra for Premium. However, it is almost impossible to talk to a live agent when you need help. Really misleading to indicate that you get premium service when you purchase Premium. I have been using Turbotax for many years and the level of service, i.e. ability to talk to a live agent, has really declined

Too Much
My printed tax was 39 pages and this is too long and many blank pages even when I asked Turbo tax to close the blank pages. Too difficult to follow as it was worse than previous years

I could not make Turbotax2020 work on a new computer and had to use an old outdated computer instead. If the Windows 10 compatibility issue is not sorted for Turbotax 2021 I will not be using it.

needs work
Previous version have been better than 2020.
Need to be able to save content throughout process but "save" options were greyed out. Had to double click too many times...did it take? the screen's not changing...
I have be using Turbo Tax for a long time and this was the worst version to try using. And stop pushing the online version!

Needs an update
Help is not helpful and the website links take you to US site not Canada so you get great tips from the IRS not CRA. Did not have information on new digital newspaper deduction. No place for receipt to be entered. Pension splitting keeps original amount in receivers income so combined income in summary is distorted by split amount (i.e. split amount counted twice). T5008 selection of type of income not clear. No warning if you do not select. This is a big deal.

Not good value
Most disappointed that despite upgrade to Premier there was still no support, (chat or telephone or online assistance), available when clarification was needed for confusing situations/questions during Easy Step.
The Basic version would have "NOT supported" just me as well.
It appears I paid extra for no added value.
I notice the " i Helpful Tips" icon link, on this Review page. It was not a feature of the program for support while completing taxes using Premier. It may have been helpful -- curious? I was expecting at least a CHAT option, or something similar if not telephone. With no way to contact TT I was frequently disappointed and frustrated. As a result, it took a long time to complete my taxes this year. I frequently had to search the CRA site for more info and/or clarification to the questions asked within Easy Steps. The language used to frame instructions or word the questions within Easy Step was not perfect.
Lastly, Form Schedule 1 has been removed. Is there a reason?

Serious issues
Using the premiere version due to investments, but Turbo Tax is terrible dealing with foreign holdings. Also, the medical expenses optimizer changed a $2900 refund into $3000 owed. How can you trust a program that does that? Also experience similar BS with the pension splitting optimizer.

Dated and Buggy
I have been using TurboTax, previously QuickTax, for a quarter century. In that time it has evolved little. It has kept stagnant menus and interfaces and has not made form finding and selection easier.
I had a tt409 previous year's return transfer error that wasted a precious week in the last month of filing before an update was made available 2 weeks before deadline.
Not acceptable.

Not what it used to be
I've used Turbotax Premier for 10 years, but am disappointed with its functionality.
I specifically purchased the Premier Edition for the" download tax form function": it did not work at all.
Also, the function bar is parred back so much that it is no help. The older versions allowed one to return to specific pages easily, the new version dropped that function. Instead of going to various sections, I prefer to be able to scroll back through the entire return process.
The help function did not provide the answers to any of my questions. Again, what used to be a useful tool, no longer helps.
Regrettably, I will be looking for a different product next year, unless Turbotax restores its former easy access interface. In its effort to provide a simple interface, Turbotax pared down the program functionality so much that it is frustrating to use.

NEEDS IMPROVEMENT

Getting Worse
My appreciation for Turbo Tax is deteriorating. The questions asked within the program could /should be SO MUCH more helpful over the years, but it seems like they've gotten worse / more confusing. I especially find the extra cost of the Professional version to be not worth it.

Efiling
When trying to EFILE the software goes around in circles. It is a waste of my time.
PLus all the info was correct but yet it says CRA has rejected some info but doesn't say what . SO what help is that???

OK but T1135 does not work
I have been using Turbotax for many years and was disappointed that there was no ability to add lines to T1135 form. This prevented me from using Turbotax to submit T1135. That is a pretty big gap. Apparently the online version does not have this flaw.

Capital Gains and Losses
Premier edition works no better than Standard for this. Confusing when they say "do not enter your information twice" and yet the two places to enter ABC etc (T500) and a Turbotax form are very different. Which one to use? What was investment and capital gains was not spelled out so this was confusing as well as the section where it asks for "amount paid received for advice" and "Investment fees". (these terms are not exact but think you will know the screen when you come to it) To me both these are the same and need to be clarified. By getting the wrong box here, Turbotax claims double the amount you actually paid for investment advice.

Several Issues w/o resolution
I have been using TurboTax for ~15 yrs, last year it was stability on Win 7 (many crashes). This year not happy with functionality of this version of TurboTax. Previously, the community seemed accessible and could post issues for support. One issue are around investment income/capital gains associated with T5008 and using previous years capital losses to offset. Another issue was dealing with childrens returns and T2202, claiming or not claim tuition fees.

meh

Need improvement
(A) During installment, a screen popped up asking me to enter name, SIN etc. I did. Later I found out that this info was stored on your site. I am not please because (1) the screens were misleading; (2) if the info is to be stored on your site, there should be clear indication.
(B) After install, every time I launched TurboTax, I was asked to enter the activation key. Why every time? I reinstalled thinking that the original install might have problem. Same thing happened.

thought it would be better
I usually use the standard tax program, which is terrific. we bought a rental property in 2020 and was hoping this premier program would give us details/examples, prompts of how to enter and what to enter (ie appliance bought for the rental program, what class it is, how to amortize etc...) it doesn't do ANY of it, you have to figure it out yourself. Thinking we may go with an accountant next year instead.

Doubing Numbers
I'm using Turbotax Premier. I have tried for hours to resolve the issue of T3, T5, T5008 final values doubling on the Schedule 3 to no avail. Capital Losses and investment incomes are overstated. No I have not doubled my entries. Only Tslips are entered.

Didn't do Covid deduction
I really wonder how accurate this software is considering it didn't raise the work from home covid deduction. Other esoteric savings opportunities were brought up, not this one.
