2018 TT Premier
definitely not as good as previous years. I found the program difficult to navigate and go back to specific parts of the easy step interview to make corrections. response time was also slow when clicking on buttons. I have been using intuit products since the mid 90's but will think hard before purchasing next year.

Real estate very poor
I had great difficuly entering data and having it stay recorded. I probably entered co-owners at least 20 times along with info that needed to be changed. finally only by saving info for me after each change and then deleting info for my wife and starting again could I get our info (That was same) to stay recorded. Had similar issues last year but only related to co owners.

Ridiculously stupid sometimes
I sold a rental property five years ago and somehow Turbo Tax re-imported the information on it. Not only was the form hanging around in the background, but I was unable to get rid of it without upgrading to Premier. What a waste of my time.

Does Not Calculate Partnerships Well
Overall the software is useful. However, if you own a real estate property as a partnership and you sell that property, the software does not calculate the individual capital gain of the sale of real estate.

Not happy with purchase
I bought it so I could NETFILE but the program will not allow me to do that, nor will it let me print off the form so I can mail in the returns!

turbo tax Pro
The help functions are of minimal value. Warnings come up with seemingly random and irrelevant suggestions. There seems to be little connection between the warnings generated and the actual panels where that information is to be entered (eg. Costs for Investment Advice and Carry Charges)

error tt401 when trying to save
I receive error tt401 when trying to save or save as, no matter which drive I choose. Does it mean next year I'll have to type all my info from scratch? If so, is turbotax still worth it?

Great for simple, poor for tax shelters
This product works well for simple tax returns, but it is wholly inadequate to handle more complex tax situations, such as tax shelters involving resource properties. The form TP-726.20.2-V, for example isn't even included in the forms inventory for Quebec. This situation is the same as last year, when I first commented on it, but to no avail. This product simply can't handle tax shelters very well at all.

not the same
Have used this software annually since at least 2005. Satisfied until this year. This version of turbotax cannot interface with audit defense, or the cra website. I have no idea if my return has been completed successfully because of the programs inability to progress through its' steps.

Rental Property
Rental Property section is very confusing. You need to be an accountant to know what to do. I still don't know if I filed my taxes correctly or not. If you need an accountant to understand, then there is no need to get Turbotax.

Not Happy with 2018 Version
This year's Turbo Tax appeared to have errors which require manual input of data that could have been transferred from the previous years data in Turbo Tax. In specific, rental property information...the property listed under the husband's name only only appears in the wife's list of properties making it impossible to transfer the information for the husband's rental income. A new property which duplicates the existing information was created under the husband's name. It was a pain trying to get help from Turbo Tax. This has not happened in versions prior to 2018.

not intuitive, hard to navigate
Not intuitive, hard to navigate, cannot override fields (thus need full data entered, cannot simulate small variations), hard access to forms. Filing to CRA is too quick (no final warning) so I filed in error to soon. Going through the wizard takes you back all the way for fixing an error. No access to forms from the wizard. Poor help. In short, a much worse product than 10 years ago.

Caution: Product May Contain Errors
TurboTax Premier 2018: The Easy-Step method failed to display the necessary prompt for entering T4A(P) Box 22 (Income Tax Deducted). Please fix this not-so-easy step to prompt for all data amounts.

This problem was already reported for 2017, and not even the spelling correction has been implemented for 2018. PLEASE FIX THIS SCREEN:
"Do you want to register for CRA's online mail?" screen:
1. There is a spelling error on this screen, which makes me wonder if TurboTax's internal workings may also contain unnoticed errors. ("Once the CRA has processed you tax return"). Please fix this.
2. This screen requires a third option concerning online mail registration. Currently it offers:
- Yes, sign me up!
- No, I'm not ready to go paperless.
A third option is required to allow a user to indicate that they have already registered for this service directly on the CRA website.

It appears that TurboTax Premier for 2018 HAS fixed a problem reported for 2017:

The T5008 data entry screen now DOES seem to allow a % split amount designation and carries it across to the other person, consistent with T5 data entry. Thank you.

Problem with Pension Splitting
TurboTax's process for showing pension splitting gives erroneous numbers in the mid-way summary screen. it adds the split pension to one spouse but doesn't deduct from the other until later in the process. this causes confusion at the mid-way point necessitating manually checking basic arithmetic until realizing the error is due to the Turbotax process. what is the point of having automated software if you are forced to do manual calculations to check the software?

Most Frustrating ever
This Tax year (2018) has been the most difficult TurboTax we have used. Our personal finances are simpler, however using TurboTax has been the most trying time we have ever had.

Simple
I bought he Premier version. It's only useful for the most basic tax questions. It is very easy to go beyond what the software is capable of. Further, the interface is hard to use. TurboTax US user interface isn't great, and the CAN version is worse. I've used this product for a couple years and it never gets any better.

Online Much Better
This was my first use of the download version. I have had way too many problems with it to deem it useful. The crashing,lack of autosave and lack of automation made it extremely stressful to use. Use the online version people i think it may cost a little more, however it is way better designed.

lost data
i started in the online entry system. i had entered all data for 3 returns then found out that one return was not supported online and i would need to download program(one program was for my fathers estate). I downloaded basic then after reentering data found i had to upgrade to Premier. later after enering data and accessing t forms from CRA for my account I found that I couldnt get my wifes data since she did not have full access. the system stalled and when | got back to turbo tax screen I found all my data was missing and once again had to enter all data again. there should be a simple way to transfer online data to the downloaded version. the program should be saving data evert time you press done also.

Not as good as it used to be
If you actually review the information on the Personal Info and NETFILE forms, you'll notice that there are check boxes that should be left blank if they don't apply (like if single/no change to marital status/no dependents), instead they are defaulted to misleading values. There is a bug in the TOSI section - the question of whether it applies overwrites the answer check boxes. Use of double negatives in questions makes things confusing. Help information is incomplete for some forms/parts of EasyStep. Getting support is incredibly difficult compared to previous years. I've been using the product for many years (always used the Premier CD/Download version), butwill look for other tax software next year.
