turbo tax 2017 would not save to a usb and skipped things this product was great in prevous years but this years lots of problems

The screens for medical carry forwards are confusing. It is not clear whether medical bills that were carried forward last year need to be re-entered. It is not clear what 12 month period to enter when carry forward medical bills apply. When I delete the thousands of dollars of medical expenses carried forward it does nothing to the calculated refund up in the top left corner of the screen.
When you enter medical details on one page that page disappears when you try and press the "Back" button afterwards...you have to dig into the "Forms" sheets to find the data you entered.
On the "Forms" sheets there is no cell to carry forward medical expenses. It is not found on the "Medical" form nor on the "Carry Forward" form.
When I delete charitable donations, the calculated refund does not change in the top left corner of the screen.
Ugh. Come on guys, just test the software platform before letting it loose to the public. Will try a different tax software supplier next year. I do not recommend TurboTax to friends.

This years version was not very user friendly. I have used it previous years and had no issues. this years it was giving references which were not there. It was impossible to print a PDF to mail in. I will try something else next year.

It is a Windows based software, so as expected with Windows software, it is very slow, and as always with Windows, it has bugs; like AUTOMATIC SERVER CANT CREATE OBJECT, so you have to press YES 4 times or more to get rid of the message. Otherwise the software works decently but it would be a lot better if there was a version for IOS. I would hesitate to recommend it to my friends, most of whom work with IOS, because it is much to slow.

I had entered medical expenses which I have many (95) entries and when revisiting my return most disappeared and I had to re-enter, save and netfile for fear of losing again Never had a problem til 2017

Probably good if you have nothing out of the ordinary. But I had problems understanding the sections on foreign investment. Then the help person couldn't see my screen even when I tried to follow the instruction you sent. I'll go to a tax guy next year.

I have to file both US and Canadian tax returns and the Canadian version is vastly inferior to the US version. Easystep items are hard to find, the grouping of topics seems haphazard, access to forms is tortuous, menus are crowded and hard to parse.

I have used Turbo Tax very satisfactorily since before it even was called Turbo Tax but this year I have been very frustrated--first by the program's inability to make an arithmetic calculation, then by the inability of the technical advisory staff to fix the problem and finally by difficulties at the filing stage.
A very useful review by a Pro Review expert revealed a serious problem with Form T2091. I spoke to three different technical advisors (two on one phone call and the third in a follow up). Eventually, after five days, the problem was identified but could not be fixed. As result I had to overwrite one entry on Schedule 3 which meant I could not use Net File. The final frustration was a glitch in the preparation of the paper return (eventually solved by exiting and re-running the program).
I'm not sure whether I will use Turbo Tax next year.

This year there were some glitches in the system and I lost the data three times. I ended up purging my files and starting all over. There were a few loops as well, and a couple of things not clear in the rental income section. Eventually, things seemed to work out, though at the end, I was taken through the routine of saving and filing twice. I will purchase TT again next year but if I experience the same challenges I will give up and find another software package.

I've been using Turbotax in the US for many years. US version is much more user friendly, better organized and much easier to use. I have never experienced problems with automatic updates dowload, like I did with this year Canadian TurboTax.

I was quite surprise with the 2016 version of turbotax. It is riddled with bugs and even typos. If i hadn't properly checked all my entries, errors would have been produced and I would have lost money.
Of course I am not 100% satisfied, yet i cannot return the software because I need it for filing purposes.
Very disappointed indeed

I have used Turbo Tax premium for the last three years and this is the first year that I have had so many issues. I had to keep going back and forth from forms and easy steps. It was frustrating and then when I called in for help the "call back option" twice disconnected me and the wait in the queue was painful but not as painful as the lady I talked to who didn't know anything and kept telling me to "bare with her" while I could hear her looking up the information. And then she couldn't even relate it back to me properly. I am not sure if I will ever use this software again! The information I imputed on the easy forms didn't carry over to the forms and then when I went into forms to correct it I got an error and warning before I filed to go back and correct everything cause the easy steps didn't update.

Too many errors in this years version of this product. Made it harder to use. If I wasn't familiar with the product from earlier years would have been a lot more frustrated with the product. May try another product next year.

This year I found that quite a few help screens were not available using the F1 Help button. Also, the Capital Gains calculation was not calculated correctly. It did not split the gains between me and my wife accurately. I had to split all the calculation in half to ensure the return was correct. I have bee using Turbo Tax for a very long time but If this "gaps" continue next year then I shall look for another product.

software has a glitch and wouldn't update, but kept prompting me. I usually purchase standard version of this product but purchased premier because I have a rental property. It lacks explanation related to rental investments. I wouldn't buy this product again.

We have used TurboTax products for more than 5 years. This year was the first time using Premium.
The user interface is similar to other turbotax products, but is a little buggy.
1) it required input of the security key EVERY time we launched the application, and logged this as 4 sepaate computers. We had started 1 joint return (importing from last year), on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3 running Windows 10 (also the same as last year).
2) Dependent Child - the application kept returning errors that were not error - it insisted on inputting deductions that were not applicable which were NOT selected.
These bugs mean that we will consider another product for next year.

I had one warning the product had a bad file and needed to reinstall which I did properly. Doing a second tax return I needed to reinstall the product at least five or six times in order to complete the return and no error message suggested it was not working. Each time easy step would work for some time but then it would refuse to work for any numbers or figures entered. On line help was disabled. The forms section was usable. The help section when available gave rather poor leads and was not of use. Hopefully Turbo Tax can fix its problems or I will need a different tax program next year.

I did not find this product easy to use, the help blurbs often did not answer my problem, to reach the review expert was a pain and althouh I found them very good last year this year she spoke too fast and did not do as good a job.

The Cap Gains Losses portion requires more knowledge than the average person has. It did not bring down the info from previous year and required that I fill the forms manually. Your help person was only somewhat helpful. Not impressed with the product support. Requires a lot of work and knowledge, whereas for double the price my accountant does all the work. I need only collect the numbers and give them to him.

If you save your file outside mof the software, for example on an external drive it uses up additional returns out of the 20 overall and 8 over $25,000. There should be a pop up message to let you know that you are using up one of your returns

Very easy to use, although in this year's version I experienced a few glitched like data entered during easy step was not getting saved to the relevant forms e.g. on the rental income section and I had to go back and re-enter a couple of time.
Also the Captial Gains tax module was not fully supported per CRA requirements e.g. T2091 - something to improve on in upcoming editions

The product was better last year. The changes made were not helpful. The navigation of the rental section continues to be a nightmare. I have been using the program for several years and this is the least friendly.

I had script errors on every page and screen I viewed. Very annoying

I found this year's Turbo Tax not straight forward as previous year's. Even the upgrade was not straight forward. Next year I probably look for a different supplier of this type of program.

An error that had to be fixed to file popped up, it was fixed but never updated the fix, preventing e-filing, which is what we pay for. If I say it's fixed, file the stupid return.

It took me over an hour to determine how to enter the Eligible Educator Supply Expense Amount for the new credit. Finally after a google search I discovered that I had to go through the interview method which I never use. As an experienced T1 preparer, I know where to enter data but discovered that the appropriate cell did not lead to another form and could not be overridden. Simply ridiculous and a waste of time for me. I have used this software for a number of years now and recall having the same problem with instalments a few years ago. I will look for an alternative for 2017.
