Turbo Tax Problems
Wording is confusing at times.
Very difficult to go back to a section
The help section were not helpful at all. Google was more useful.
Not intuitive at all.
Very easy to netfile they did a good job here!!!
The Live help people were very very helpful and I could not have completed my taxes with out their help.

Could be better
the program did not allow for the splitting of capital gains with my spouse so I had to calculate them individually for my spouse and I.
Text at the end is very confusing and you are not quite sure if the tax return was efiled or not.
All kinds of warnings but they are not specific enough to determine where there may be an error and why

Dissapointed
I have used TurboTax for quite a number of years because of it's simple format and ease.
When it comes to printing the forms for mailing to
Revenue Canada, I've had no problem, except this year (2014). I could print my form, but I couldn't print
my wife's. A message box kept coming up to check for
TurboTax updates. Why did this message only show up
at the time of printing and not at the initial program download? I had to mail the 'file' copy
to get the taxes filed. I may rethink buying TurboTax for 2015 filing, it was too frustrating. I like things simple!

The RRSP and rental sections are poor and contain issues that have been present in past years.

not good or lousy
This program consistently works bad. No matter how you enter it always says the amount in listed on form is higher than the box 32 amount on T4. So you can't nefile.
also if you open a form you don't need it never closes it ever, inspite of never making an entry. Even at the end when it says you have open forms that ypu don't need you you want us to close them before printing. you answer yes and it still prints and saves them. dI have used this program for years, seems to get worse every year so this may be my last.
sincerely so what. your lucky it is so mild.

Inconsistent/Nonstandard/Awkward Software
This software does not follow Windows standards thus the interface is antiquated and awkward.
The tools, which should be automated, ask you too often to enter values the software already knows. So you quit the tool, look up the value, restart the tool, etc.
There just has to be something better out there! Worth looking!

Not as good as before
Your program in 2014 is not as user friendly as the past years. Been using Turbo tax for almost 8 years and it was always a breeze. Not this year. Not so happy about it.

poor display
After downloading windows 8 version, the forms and slips were soooo small that it was impossible to read them. I was told to change my display setting. After doing that the T1 was ok but the forms were still not clearly legible. All my other program are fine without changing the display.
Second issue: Entered data in box and when I went to change it I couldn't. After call to Turbo Tax, they stated that the info could be changed buy using the easy interview method. It worked but wouldn't update the other calculations. I finally reinstalled the software and the problem was corrected.
After using Turbo tax for many years, I will have to think twice before going through this much aggravation again.
Turbo tax on line help was efficient.

Very user unfriendly
Software is horrible to use ... very non-intuitive, difficult to understand, poor explanations and almost no direction. I imagine it would be OK for someone with a basic tax return, but it is abysmal for anyone with any sort of complicated return.

not good
I sold a revenue property this past year and this program did nothing to help me here! the capital gains were a headache and i ended up having to phone a real person and pay, and not turbo tax people!!! if the program cant help me why pay more for them to help. I thought that if the program dealt with rental properties it whould be able to deal with all aspects of this.... i guess not! I will not be buying this next year!!

Poor value for premier version
I originally purchased the standard product, and completed my return. As it kept telling me to purchase the premier version for "additional tax help/savings" i did so. it did not affect my return, or make it easier to file. Complete waste of money.
I will not use your products again.

activation
I purchased turbox premier 2013 CD version. the program itself once it opens, it is easy to work with . but I have a very hard time to open the program. three of out four times I open the program it asked me to re activate the program. one night, I spent two hours with the tech support to get the program reactivated. it was no fun at all. the most frustrated thing was the next time I open the program, it asked me to activate again. it really drive me nut.

Older technology
Disappointed with the need to have a newer operating system to use this year. XP is still widely used and your lack of support to these users was disappointing. Particularly when American users got patch files. I am not willing to use a web based version and enter all my financial data.

The part that netfile did not work caused me so much stress that I will probably not file by myself next year. I will probably go to a tax preparer. The update not working caused me to have to load the program 3 times using up 3 of my precious evenings. I was very frustrated,

There are so many obtuse things about using the program topped off by the final stumbling point of having to choose the "link" to file. For those of us who are not nerds, why don't you explain what a link is. Not everybody knows everything, so I think I will go and farctate myself!

Lost Opportunity
TurboTax should make a single product that can be used by Canada filers who are also required to file in the US. The information is virtually the same and could easily be combined. there are hundreds of thousands of such filers and I would pay more for such a product.

This Product is Going Downhill Fast
I have been a TurboTax user for about 8 years but I will be looking for a different tool next year.
My basic problem is that in an effort to make the software more 'User Friendly' you have actually made it very frustrating to anyone who does not follow the script exactly. If you go through the easy step interview and have all of the answers it probably works. BUT if you are missing information and / or need to make corrections the process is not easy.
I have never completed the easy step process from end to end - I am usually missing some slips or other information or I have a time limit so I deliberately skip steps expecting to go back later. Big Mistake -this year it is virtually impossible to modify you return without running into an override or similar problem.
Once into 'correcting an override' you just seem to go around in circles. There is no telling how many screens you will get into before coming full circle to the original field - without ever seeing an obvious way to correct the error. Eventually you realize that you need to go back to 'Easy Steps' even though you know exactly where in the return the numbers should be inserted.
When I finally got the tax returns sorted out it was into the printing/filing process. Again if you have to make a correction once you start the Netfile process you are in for more circles. For example I forgot to enter an address for the co-owner of a rental property. The system took me to the correct form but I had to start the Netfile Process over again rather than continuing where you left off. (I actually restarted the Netfile process 8 times to fix the errors in two tax returns)
I believe that the software does an excellent job of calculating my taxes - however your user interface really needs work.

Getting Worse

Premier Turbo Tax
Have used Turbo Tax and it's predecessor several times in the past without difficulty but 2012 issue had numerous glitches. Sometimes it would print copy of return without difficulty and other times it would NOT
print. I also sometimes had difficulty connecting to NETFILE. Most frustrating! Will have to consider using another product next year.
