One suggestion
It would be nice to have a modelling tool that would show the impact of keeping the separate medical expenses versus it being claimed by either of the spouses (three columns), so you could see whether it is more advantageous to keep the original allocation versus either party before you decide to make the change.

still a bit confusing
It seems really straight forward. However there are areas where the wording could be more clear. Or less words would make it more clear.
R.S.P. deductions regarding the assessment amount gets confusing.
Seemed confusing to me anyhow.

Netfile portion confusing
The product is excellent and is improved upon each year, however this year the program was changed to add confusion. Once you complete the reviewing your return it asks you the same question "do you want to review your return. Additional once you netfile it comes back and asks you if you wish to netfile for a 2nd time?

Your notes say that applying deductions(ie medical expenses) to the spouse that has the lower income will result in the highest refund, however the optimizer indicates that to maximize total refund, the deductions need to be applied to the higher income. Also I am not working and cannot apply for the Working Income Tax Benefit and yet at the bottom of that page it will not accept a "no" and automatically puts in a "yes". One final complaint is that you generate an informative "Detailed Tax Summary" under the refund number which I would like to make a copy of---and I can't!

first time user
i have always filed my own return by hand. go get the paper copies and do the calculations. fill it out and send it in. this year i tried turbo tax and was very happy with it. the only thing i found hard to figure out was where to put my childrens school expenses and how to list them or group them together and put in one amount.( children are in high school). other than this i found the program good to use.

Worthwhile but some issues
Easy step is definitely very user friendly -- practically idiot-proof. the main problem is it does not save properly. I had to deal with another matter after I started filling the form out so I saved what I had done. When I went back, I had to redo the profile because it had changed and then re-enter most of the info.

Excellent software
I have been using this software for 10 years and find it very easy to maneuver and is very detailed. There is one minor section that should be corrected. If the tax returner is over 71 years old, he can not use RRSP's but it asks you if your want to optimize it. The program should check the birthdate and if the person is over 71, it should skip the step.

My expereince with Turbo Tax
I have used Turbo Tax for several years now and I am pleased with changes that make using the program easier every year. I am especially pleased at how quick and easy it was to net file this year. I appreciate the ability to prepare spousal returns together and easily check who benefits most from deductions.

Not very user friendly
It is hard to navigate, and for HBP I had to actually go to the forms, the easy steps would not get me there. Also, I had troubles with finding where to input the tuition fees. When I would type take me to "tuition fees", it would just show me the carry over, not the current year. For the money, and considering i am an accountant, I could figure it out and it was ok.

The usual simply to use format. Having several years experience with TurboTax and QuickTax before, I use the forms method as it is quicker for me.

I cannot now imagine doing my personal income tax any other way than with TurboTax. The only reason I didn't give it 5-stars across the board is because if one saves and closes it, when you come back to continue, it restarts at the beginning of a process step instead of at the screen you were on within that step when you saved and exited. Then you have to plod through screens that you've already dealt with before. That did get up my nose a bit.

buy it every year
I have bought quick tax and Turbo Tax for more than 15 years, This is the first time I have had a problem entering my address in the identification box. I have to do a review then it tells me I am missing information and when I go to fix it I can then enter my address. How can I fix this problem without doing a review?
