Works like a charm
Easy and intuitive. Only suggestion I can make is a quick preview showing page 4 of your return.. that shows tax paid and balance or refund due. before saving.. some thing .. save THIS file? with the preview. Doing this will ensure that you save the proper file and (don't ask me how I know this) not a file of one of the various scenarios that you can try. such as income splitting etc etc.

STANDARD 2012
I enjoy using TurboTax each year. I feel this year was not it's best product, but being familiar with the program I made it through without too many bumps and bruises.
In previous versions, immediate videos and FAQ connected to a community were incorporated at each stage of the process on the same page. This version did not have this community sense and was a bit disappointing. I had to leave the program several times to get clarification on Child fitness, activity tax and arts benefits from other sources.
Overall I enjoyed the product and I hope it will be a bit more accessible to the tax community and FAQ's.
I feel that if TurboTax would give a "new tax info" section, it would be beneficial when new tax rules and policies are applied to give the user a better shot at finishing

Important Improvement Needed
Dear TurboTax,
Everything was good until the return was electronically filed an then as a final step, a pop up window appeared indicating the tax return had changed and asking if I wanted to save it. This caused me half a minute of anxiety wondering what had changed and whether the changes should be saved. I decided to click "Yes" to save the changes, but now I am wondering if these last changes could have done something bad to my tax return file that I will need for next year (like overwriting my return with an empty return). Please, if pop up windows like this are necessary, please ensure that it is clear what is being saved, and that the tax return information for next year is safely stored in file "x.tax". I sure hope my file is there for next year but I`m guessing it is! Overall very good software and it is obvious that there is a lot of effort put into it. Keep up the improvements! Thanks a lot.

good program
The program is good, a bit complex, but then the tax return is complex as such.
I would like to have an easier method to access prior years' accumulated capital gains (losses) and/or charitable donations.
The questions below are too personal in my view.
The "terms and conditions" are really too much to ask to agree to, for a review of this nature.
If they are necessary, they could be phrased in a more customer-friendly language.

carry forward capital losses
This program has made it easy for me to file for years, but this year I give it credit for finding a benefit for carrying forward capital losses to offset capital gains, I had not thought of the capital losses .

Printing hard copy and RRSP deductions
"1. You need to make us able to create a PDF file with the final forms. Now the PDF file is showing "FILE COPY DO NOT SUBMIT". This is a weakness in your product which was not like this before. In case my printer is not working at home, I need to create a PDF file of my tax return and print it somewhere else where they do not have TurboTax.
Really, you need to fix this problem for next year; otherwise I will not buy your product. It is important to realize that many people cannot use e-File since they have to submit lots of calculations of their investments or because they work in U.S.A.
2. You need to simplify the RRSP deduction change at line 208 because not it is not straight forward. You need to click on line 208 then you need to go to Schedule 7 and from their you need to figure out -after several trails- how to go to the RRSP Worksheet just to change your RRSP contribution in order not to use RRSP contributions more than what you really need."

Simple, Straight-forward
I have been using TurboTax for a number of years. I appreciate the clear graphic interfaces and questions. I especially like the corner graphic which tallies my total refund as I go.

Very good product
I have been using Turbo Tax (Quick Tax) for many years, it is simple, and easy to use, even if you are not great with computers, the step by step process is pretty much fool proof!!

Good software
I've been using QuickTax and TurboTax for many years. With 4 kids all in post-secondary, it makes handling tuition and other dependent info simple.
The limit of 8 $25k+ returns has so far caused no problems despite the fact that in our house we file taxes for 11 people (parents, parents in law, wife and me, and the kids). Recommended.

great purchase
when I was completing tax return there are places where you cannot remove the x ie when claiming tuition the x in the spouse or parent/grandparent cannot be removed. I have no spouse and do not want to transfer to anyone I want to be able to use in a future year as it did not help in reducing my taxes on this return. X's should not be anywhere on the program .... should be able to input when completing return.

Obstacles
Changing Personal Profile answers before deleting the information typed into that category on the return, really messed me up. I couldn't figure out why there was still data entered in that category when I had changed my answer from Yes to No. It caused tremendous frustration.

Great Electronic Assistant
For the most part it's "Follow The Bouncing Ball". Fairly easy to use depending on your personal Tax Knowledge. Some improvements could be applied to reduce repetitve input on information already entered. And since the population is getting older and our vision isn't quite what it used to be...Size of Print and Colour Selection could be improved. It definitely is better than doing it by hand and mailing the return in manually or by phone. Keep up the good work. I eagerly look forward to the enhanced tweaks to make it an excellent product.

ACCESS TO OTHER RETURNS
I would suggest that the tax return name appears on every page. When working with more that one return, it is good to know which return you are working on. Also, I could not determine how to switch to an alternate return without closing Turbo Tax and then opening a new return. I'm sure this should not be the process, but an appropriate mechanism was not evident to me.

Good but earlier years better
This continues to be the standard to meet up to, but I did feel that earlier years versions were more polished. More than a few paths continued despite not being relevant (Split Income), and some forms were hard to find when the paths didn't take you there. The online help was inconsistent, meaning sometimes very good and bang on, and sometimes not helpful. I will buy again, but didn't quite "enjoy" my experience as much this time around.

First time user because Govt encouraged efiling
Since this was the first time using Netfile, I had trouble finding the .tax file, but after the 1st return, the 2nd went smoothly.
I'm not sure about the Statement of Business entry because it came out with a different result than what I had figured and I had to go back to reconcile and find the difference. If it showed a running income (loss) amount, it would have been easier to spot where the difference was coming from.
Some of the warning messages would come up, so I would change my answer, then get a different warning. eg. Are you applying for GST credit? I said no for myself and my spouse because I was sure we wouldn't qualify. Then TurboTax said I should apply for it, so I did. Then it said I shouldn't apply for it because it would be a waste of time & paper (which I agree), so I changed it back to 'No'.
Overall it was fairly easy to use and hopefully next year, it will be easier for me and show me a comparison to the previous year's return, so I can see if I forgot anything.
