Easy to use
This is my 9 or 10 year I have used Quicktax/TurboTax. It takes me about 3 to 4 hours to sort through all our papers and fill in the forms.

Splitting capital gains
I had to do estate splits of t3's t5's and cap gains. It would have been a lot easier if the program allowed the ability to put in % of all the above. As it is it will only split T3' and T5's and only with your spouse. I wanted 1/3 of everything and the other 2/3 did not belong to my spouse so I had to do a fake tax return as a single person to calculate the T3's and T5's. The program never has had the capacity to divy up capital gains from sales of stocks etc. Every year I recommend you do it and I'm still waiting. Why would you think that only interest and dividends need to be split. It is a real inconvenience to have to make up a spread sheet and input everything twice in order to get the calculated values to put into the capital gains tax form

Fix the Netfile Problem
There is a problem with the Netfiling features of TurboTax. The program automatically fills in 0.0% as the partnership share of a sole proprietorship and then refuses to Netfile because a percentage (even 0%) has been entered. This is a glitch that needs fixing.

More Flexibility Needed
Improved over last year's version. Program was not flexible to claim moving expenses appropriately-Many University Students complete studies on a Co-Op basis, meaning they alternate 4 month terms between school and work terms. Turbo Tax only allowed 2 moves, not the 4 I needed to complete for each of my 2 University students-was a lot of additional work & expense to print the copies, adapt the return to accomodate the additional 2 moves and mail the returns. Sometimes the Co-Op jobs are overseas and I am hoping I entered this info correctly. Would like to see more assistance built into the program to assist Students.
Also University students pay a Charitable Donation as part of their tuition payment, however have a separate receipt. I entered the amount of the donation and indicated that it should be deducted in a future year but Turbo Tax removed the amount of the donation and red flagged the donation being carried forward because the amount of the donation had been removed.

The interview steps help to keep you on track but also allow flexibility to go back and forth and to other forms. Netfile was a breeze!

Long interview
The interview mode is great until you answer yes to the first question, which opens up 10 more questions, and so on.
The interview mode does however give a comfort level that the forms mode lacks. Still, for simple returns, I think to forms option is probably quicker.

Good product
I would like to purchase this product on line, but so far I have found it too confusing trying to figure out which version and at what price I will be charged. Tell me the price up front and I will be more likely to purchase on line. I have just started using Window 8. The program did not start up from the disk, but figured out how to get it going anyway.

Problems with a NetFile Demo
I was unable to view the NetFile Demonstration. I clicked on the radio button, and the file started to download, 45MB took more than 30 min, very slow. Then, I was unable to run the Demo.
So, I had to skip it. But at the end, the instructions were simple, and I uploaded the .tex file to RC.

Everything works fantastic and is so smooth all the way up until i have to file it to the CRC, then, every year, I can't find the file or where it was saved to my computer. That is the only frustrating point, all else is super easy to use.

A trendy tool in mothern life
Although simple to use, it requires a reasonable amount of knowledge on tax matters. Do not buy it if not sure to be able to acquire the minimum understanding or consequences are unpredictable.

Turbo Tax 2012 software
Overall the system was easy to use. I like using the version where you key in the forms and slips. Had a bit of a challenge with the net filing but managed to complete. Like the "warnings" and "errors". Very helpful. Very satisfied with the software and would recommend it.

Needs improvement
There are apparent problems with charitable donations. Joint returns don't allow splitting, which is nonsense when considering that some couples may have a high percentage of their income dedicated to charities.
The single return has a glitch in it so that opening the charitable donation field can be problematic (but can be done).
No one from TurboTax appears interested in learning about the problem or the fix.

Good Organizer - Time consuming entry
I found the program very helpful inguiding me through the stages of entering the data and answering questons. The review sections were good at identifying important errors I had made. My biggest complaint is the onerous amount of time needed to fill in the data donations and medical expenses. The optimizer features do not provide a trade-off figure of whether there is an advantage at any level to carry forward rather than accept the restrictions and percentages. The decisidon to carry forward requres a re-entry of all the data in the following year. Filling in the receipt boxes does not allow for copy and paste of many repeat items, I am sure that I am not alone in being a look-and -peck typist.

Good Value but be careful
I did something incorrectly and had to start the full process over from the beginning. It does not have an auto save feature that I could determine.
When missing slips to enter did take some time to find how to add them in but once this was found the process went smoothly.
This is the first time electronically and sure speeds up the process of completing a return.
I have no other electronic comparison to determine if this is good value but for the amount I paid for the software would recommend to others

I find the Turbo Tax program meets my needs. Wish I could figure out how to make the screen/font bigger. It's too small to read good. This grey font is also hard on the eyes.

TurboTax for Family
I have been using TurboTax for years (starting back when it first came out as 'CanTax') and have also been satisfied with it. It is easy to use and provides a lot of helpful info. One of the biggest advantages is that it carries forward all relevant data from one year to the next and so vastly reduces the time required to file, especially in regards to such items as capital gains/losses and the carryforwards for these for each year. It also includes online tax help, although this can be EXTREMELY slow and sometimes impossible to reach getting closer to the end of April. There are some things that are not always that easy or obvious to use (e.g. the charitable donations optimizer is useful in determining how best to assign the deduction between you and your spouse but is not at all obvious in how to switch it between the two).

User friendly
Its easy to use for basic returns, but I still find the forms format better for additional deductions. There should be a step for this because most people claim property tax but it isnt obvious where it ust be entered.

Painless Taxes
This is the 3rd year I've used TurboTax, and it gets easier every year. I like the wizards for maximizing returns. It took me about 2 hours to do my taxes for me and my wife.

Make it Mac
We have used TurboTax for several years and it always works fine. But, we prefer over Mac over Windows. Yes, it is available "online", but we far prefer to not leave it in the ether. Please, TurboTax, create a universal application to work in our world!

I wish you made it easier to toggle to spouse's net income instead of having to search for it once my spouse finally did his return. Furthermore, I wish the number I needed to provide to my spouse was more obvious.
