Not a waste of money
I have been using this product for a number of years and I find it a great purchase every year. It is very easy to use and fast. I get everybody in my household taxes done when I want and in the comfort of my home. I can check different scenarios to see what would be better so we can change things for next year. I like the search of ask a question, it is very useful. I will continue to use the program every year because it is cheaper than taking it to an accountant.

Saves Use of an Accountant
I do run into occasional problems with the program, but I have so far been successful talking to a real person at TurboTax, who was able to help.
Finding the telephone number for TurboTax has not been as easy as I would like.

Awkward detail data entry
I like doing my taxes with Turbo Tax; but I find entering detail (e.g., for Medical receipts) VERY cumbersome. There should be a spreadsheet like entry capability (if necessary with a stringent review screen).

Tax deadline relief

Suggestions
While the program over all is good I found the lack of being able to copy, person covered and reason in the Medicak expense sheet annoying. It was there last year why was it removed.

Usability Enhancement Suggestions
1) Pop-up screens should be RESIZEABLE.
2) In the information slip input screen, users should have the option to display the box numbers in numerical order, instead of the order in which they normally appear on the slips.
3) It would be useful to be able to right-click on the EasyStep tabs and get a pop-up list of all the pages, for quick selection, instead of having to find it using the "go to" technique. It would be much faster and more intuitive.

Worth While

difficult to togle around forms
It would be a lot easier if the various tax forms (T slip, Schedules etc) where listed on the left hand side of the screen, perhaps below the summary, as it would make it much easier to switch from one form to another i.e medical, Sch 4, Captial gains etc

We all need to pay taxes...why not pay a small amount and do it yourself. the tax companies use programs too , why pay them for what you can do yourself

File copy watermark
Not sure why TurboTax added the watermark (File Copy, Do Not Submit). Please consider removing it 2013. It is not necessary. I would prefer to have a clean file copy without a watermark. Thank you.

PROBLEM
The program suggested that the medical expenses be claimed by the lower income person. However when I did that the total tax payable increased. Turbo Tax should have warned me that the total tax increased rather than waiting until the end.

Makes Taxes Easier
I use the Turbotax every year. Our taxes are pretty simple and it's cheaper to use the program than to have them prepared by someone else. I enjoy to simplicity of just entering the numbers and having Turbotax complete my calculations, and the Netfile is the best option for sending off my taxes. I like that the program checks for errors and offers tips. It makes a frustrating experience so much easier, and I don't dread doing my taxes as much anymore.

In program help center/advertisement an issue
Firstly, the fixed help center / advertisement area taking up HALF of the display area throughout work is annoying, interfering, and very difficult (constantly moving back and forth to see each full line) for a person with poor eyesight to work. Can this be a movable curtain or enlargeable area if help is needed?
Secondly, is it necessary to change the screen resolution while in the program?
Otherwise, the program is very good and that's why I have been using it for the past 10 years.

Easy to use and low cost
Turbo Tax is easy to use - Just answer the questions and it's done. Been using it for a couple of years and no problems so far.
It does not cost hundreds of dollars to file our taxes.

Getting Harder
It is impossible to do the pension split without over-riding fields when filing separately. This is a real pain and can cost many dollars. For example, the tax credits have to be put in manually. This program is getting worse, not better. I suppose one should do joint returns but I hate automation and losing control. Computer programs are notalways smarter!

I think a few screens with repeated questions can be deleted. For example, it asks several times ' do you want to save the file?' It will be good if Turbo tax can save users' time while being effective.

Dependable software
I have been using the same product since it was previously Quick Tax: it is easy to use if you don't need to file a complicated return and offers very useful advice and tips. The only problems I have had with filing returns are omissions on my part.
