Charitable Donation Issue
I have been using QuickTax/TurboTax for years without an issue. It did one really annoying thing this year with a small return I was doing. During the review sequence it suggested I carry donations over to a future year, so I did, then the next step it told me that some donations were over 5 years old and couldn't be carried forward. Would have been nice to give me the right recommendation the first time!

Tax Prep made easy for average Joe's
Overall, the more you use the program year after year, it becomes easier to use. I started with the copy from my Tax preparer in 2010 and used this as a guide for last year and again this year.
I found an error in y 2010 return, where the company used by Spousal RRSP purchase under her return, instead of mine as a contributor. I was able to verify with the "HELP" that it was to go under my return as the "Contributor".
I use last years return as a guide for this year, again when numbers don't appear on the same line, it helps me clairfy I entered it wrong, use the HELP guide to verify where my mistake was and fix it.

My only beef about Turbo Tax
I see that others have raised this issue in the Q&As and it remains a sticky point for me as well. Those of us who do pension income splitting with our spouse generally start out with separate returns to see the numbers before income splitting. This means that you have to re-enter a fair amount of data in order to complete the third return with income splitting. It would be nice if the data from the separate returns could be electronically transferred to the third return without having to enter any of it manually.

Long time user
I have been using this product for years and have now become used to its quirks, but the one issue I have relates to printing. The product would be much easier to use if there was a print function on every page so that particular page/schedule could be printed without having to leave that area of the form. For example, it would be really handy to be able to print out the year over year comparison page with a single click.

Good Value for the Cost
We use this product yearly, it is simple to use if you are somewhat computer literate. We like to run this program and SEE for ourselves where tax savings are, etc. We are senior citizens and assist other senior citizens by using this purchase as it allows other tax returns than our own. Bonus

Can't believe I paid so you can market to me
I Bought this program so I could file my taxes and it's an outrage to have to answer to your prompts and suggestions to buy more of your products and services. How dare to force feed me your adds even though I paid for your program? I'm annoyed and insulted and for that reason only I will look for a different program next year.

Suggestions
Overall it was user friendly. Had some trouble entering my RRSP donations in deductions. Had to go back a few times before it would allow me to enter the amount as a deduction, otherwise the directions were clear and concise. Thank you for a good product.

Glad I came back
It really is true what they say...you never know what you have until you lose it. I tried a different product at first this tax year just to see what others were like and did not even get half way through before giving my head a shake....Nice product TurboTax. Intuitive, easy to use and quick as can be.
I won't be trying another next year. Happy Filing..

Necessary evil
Have used Quick Tax for a number of years, now using TurboTax. On the whole I find it easy to follow, but there are times when the directions for that particular page are unclear, so you have to fumble through it and re-do things a few times.
It would be nice if the program gave totals or ranges that were helpful. Example: earned income $20,000, if I put in donations, telling me ahead of the game what amounts are useful, and what amounts are not. Same thing for medical expenses.

Always a good choice with one exception
I have been using TurboTax (including under its earlier name QuickTax) for years. It has made filing income taxes very easy. It is even easier than going to a tax service, which I tried once.
The only time TurboTax has not made it clear what I should do was when filing taxes for my daughter while in the JET programme. There is no clear instruction on how to enter income and tax information to ensure that the tax to be paid is $0. We have had instructions from CRA and the JET programme staff in the past and each year I have to follow those instructions rather than any instructions from TT. This could be improved

GREAT PRODUCT, STILL HAS HICK UPS
I love your product, but had a problem with the percentages on our shared business. 1/3 share should be calculated by .3333, however, your product would not allow me to use this calculation and I could not get my figures to balance to the accountants figures. After playing with the percentages I was able to get close to the accountants figures but could not get the proper figures to balance.

Problems with Turbo Tax 2012
This is a great program, but it was not as easy to use this year as previous years. I was especially confused by the wording of the yes/no question regarding eligibility to Netfile."Do you have no income to report". When dealing with double negatives, the English language does not do well. The explanation for this question must be made more clear.

Something you should know to prevent frustration!!
the basic turbo tax does not allow you to bring in previous years information that had been saved.
I wouldn't care, but the basic package does not inform you of this but does offer you to upload the previous years file. Basically making 45 min of frustrating research on the internet trying to figure out how to upload!! Save your time, do not try!! Just enter info from scratch.

Clumsy to do spousal return
When starting asks if you wish to bring in data from previous year -- good feature. Then asks if you want to do spousal return at same time but if answer is yes, gives you a bunch of blank fields to fill in about spouse, even though all that information is on data imported from last year. (It proves it is there by showing it later for confirmation.) Thus doing two forms at once is a hassle -- extremely weak feature.

Easy to Use
It ia Great tool and catches maximum and ensures you do not miss out. for filing individual returns , it is a bit expensive for a single file, even for 3 returns given max is for 8 but it is still good value.

I do like Turbo Tax
I do like Turbo Tax, but wish we could pay through our on line banking account. Would make it sooooo much easier. I accessed it through my bank, but then couldn't pay for it through my bank account.
