As good as ever
We had Turbo Tax recommended to us when we first came to Canada and had to file our own taxes. From the start it has been easy to use, asks sensible and relevant questions and has guided us through the tax minefield. Thanks!

easier than I thought
I was leary about doing our taxes but I also wasn't wanting to spend a few hundred $$ for someone else to do it. It was quite easy except when I hit the pension income...it registered as self-employed. It took me awhile but figured out it was the wrong box, blah, blah....Anyway, I will definitely recommend this and I'll use it again.

Good Program
This is a good program that does pretty well everything you need. Some improvements would be to allow for cut and paste to enter/transfer large blocks of common data. The program should also allow for spouses returns to be linked after preparation, but before filing.

Easy to use
this software is easy to use if you are requiring a basic program to do your taxes. What I had difficulty with is fining where to list the Safety Deposit box fee. Had to look in Help and chat... other then that I found this easy to use. I like the Netfile option and will use this sfw. again next year.

2012 Turbo Tax
Overall experience was good, but a few bugs encountered. Be sure your printer doesn't slip into power-saving 'sleep' mode when TTax is open or you can't print anything. Also the in-app NETFILE demo video links failed to connect, so I had to find the view the file at the TurboTax website.

The Problem
The software writing & contrast is so small as to be almost unreadable. There is no option within the program to allow for easier viewing.
My screen is set for everything else that gets done on this computer (docuements, web pages etc etc.). I have no problem with any of this stuff including the netfile site.
It was not a fun experience. You need to read it to use it.

Tuition Transfer
I found it frustrating because this program would not allow my husband and me to split and share the education deductions for our two kids. It would only let one or the other claim the whole amount. Otherwise, a great program.

easily done
got confused with the optimizers at first, but in the end they did the job. Have to have some faith the program knows what it is doing, carrying forward the right figures, especially when doing a combined return.
Will continue to use this program in the future.

Going back to various forms can be a problem when going through the review process, especially if one needs to be changed. a direct route to form to allow it to be changed would be helpful.

1. On Medical Expenses: Insufficient space to input payment made to and description of expenses; Insufficient space to input all medical receipts, even trying to summarize and combine them - only 120 inputs allowed.
2. When I shutdown Turbo Tax and turned off the computer, Turbo Tax would not open when the computer was restarted. This happened with the 2011 version as well. I had to use System restore in the 2011 and 2012 version. Why hasn't Intuit Canada corrected the problem? I do not have any problem with other software!

income splitting and tuition transfer
helped my father use it this year for the first time for his income splitting. Seemed to work well and he was very happy.
Also used it for the first time for tuition transfer, that didn't go so smooth and found that a bit confusing. Switched things around at the end when it asked to verify, but I had already finalized my daughters so will now how to send in a change for her after I get her assessment notice, hopefully no big deal

good but needs polishing
The return software is good however I would recommend a little more use of common language. IE: during the review of return, where a person can click apply to me, rename it to say something along the lines of " click here to be taken to the screen where you can make changes" instead of "applies to me". Currently the software makes a person think that the software will make changes automatically and that I won't be given an opportunity to change it myself.

Only one small suggestion
I found the colour used for the highlighted sections ( the links) was too light and I had difficulty reading it on my screen. Might consider changing this to a darker colour. Other than that the program is excellent.

Turbo Tax Experience
Great experience, the help options don't always answer all the questions that I was wanting to know. I am concerned that some of the tax credit options are not easily known about unfortunately that a professional would be able to help with. Overall, it is extremely convenient and easy to use. I have a disabled father as well as other friends and family that get me to do their returns via this program and every time I do a return, the value of the program increases.

Not sure if it is the best
After completing the Netfile, I needed to go back to check something and I used the back button. When I continued , it started asking the same questions again , not recognizing that I have already completed the netfile steps and I got the confirmation from both CRA and Que. When I reached the quebec section, it insisted that I enter the 6 digits number. Also, I noticed that the fixing that I had to make during the interview was not saved. Perhaps, once the user completes the netfile part, the reference no should be recorded and saved and a warning would be given that you cannot netfile for a second time.

Room for improvement
Getting through the program wasn't too bad, but when it came time to 'EFILE' .....what a pain!!!!!!
I ended up cutting down another tree so as to have enough paper to print my return and mail it in!!!!

Child expenses
Overall good, except it did a poor job managing amount for children for me. I am separated and pay spousal and child support. Since I claim those, I cannot claim amount for children - but Turbo tax didn't catch that. Caused a lot of confusion.

Turbo Tax is very user friendly and easy to follow.
There is peace of mind that all you have to do is fill in personal data and amounts from forms and Turbo tax does all the calculations accurately. I've used this program for at least 5 years.

Good again this year
Getting a little pricey for one or two returns. Probably will use the online version next year. Taxes are a relatively easy process with this software. A little confusing to navigate if you are returning to a partially done return, but if you have everything in order it can all be done very quickly!
