Changing info
Once opening the file and making an entry and then going back and making a change, it does not carry this change forward to the next level.
i.e. entry in personal info
change in personal info
but does not show the correction/change
in the income info.

Disability amount
couple's return, men has disability amount, deductions r more then revenue, disability amout is transfered to spouse, then you cannot file her report because the disability amount is not allowed, forcing me to 1, file his return, 2 remove disability amount from his return, 3 file hers.

Some of your questions were confusing, like when you stated only once for both returns, I became confused with the wording of the questions. Also I hope I won't have to pay for advice again next year.

Observations on 2012 Version
Tax package pretty good.
On-Line Help Centre on each "Easy Step" page is a nuisance. Allow the user to close it.
My complaint every year that never gets fixed. The display font is too faint and hard to read. Please use a bolder font !!!@!!!
Frequent advertising pop up pages for TurboTax products and services are a pain and just make me determined not to buy them in retribution for the constant hassle.

Good Value
Easy to use program, you can save as you go and there is no need to drag all your documents to someone elses office. The programs asks you the same questions that any tax agent would and costs way less. I have been using Turbo Tax/Quick Tax for the past 6 years and wouldnt use anything else.

Overall very good tax software. I have been using it for a few years now back when it was called Quicktax. It just had a little glitch this year (for software tax year 2012) where you could not view the netfile demonstration before you netfiled. However, I was able to netfile without the demo. I will continue to buy turbotax ever year.

Capital Gains Issue
When compiling simultaneous return for a couple TurboTax allows specification of percentage allocated to each for income from e.g. interest and dividends but does not have this option for capital gains [losses] so that all must be calculated and entered separately on the individual returns. The ability to split reported income should be extended to capital gains!

SMALL COMPLAINT
Some of the blue comments are hard to read because they are to light.
I have used this program for a few years with no problems. The 2012 version has caused me extra work and redoing taxes. When I save the form to a flash stick it saves without a problem. When I go to open a tax file, it keeps giving me an error and I have to redo the tax, which is very inconvenient.

Worth buying and trying.
Good enough for simple or more complex returns. If doing your taxes for the first time then Easy Step is the way to go. But if you are familiar with the forms, then use the forms entry process.
Price could be a little cheaper for those of us who just use it once a year!

Turbo Tax every year
I have been using Turbo Tax now for 7 or 8 years. Each year, it copies from my previous year's return to start the new one, is easy and intuitive to use and makes netfiling simple.

Not as good as it used to be
There was a glich with "fix" override for a dependent.
It took a while but I finally figured it out.
Somehow the number which was 0.00 was in red,
so I manually overrode it by going to forms and then clicking on override, all it did was turn the 0.00 form red to green ... kind of dumb and a waste of my time.
I also found going back and forth between forms and easy step was not as easy as it used to be.
I think the old quicktax program was better.
I have been a user for 15+ years, so I know!

Easy to use
I liked the easy format, but hated having to use Internet Explorer. I didn't get the printout of the acceptance page because IE doesnt recognize my printer. Other than that, Turbo Tax was good to use.

Good tax software
My wife and I have used this software for a number of years now. We plan on continuing to use it. The only issue I have is that I can't open previous years tax files in the current year software. I don't keep my old disks around to re-install if I need to check something I entered for a previous return. Backwards-compatibility would be a big plus.

Not always best to file medical expenses under spouse earning the least as recommended by TurboTax. Review carefully both ways & choose the best one for your particular situation.
