Reliable
I count on Turbo Tax to give me the best possible refund each year. I find it relatively simple and, as a senior in my seventies, I appreciate the comparative ease with which it guides me through the necessary steps.

set up procedures
this is my 3rd yr using turbo tax and i would like to recommend that the install a message that states we have to UP-DATE any information when installing turbo tax. i waisted 2 files because of this message when i got to the end of filing the taxes for netfile, the radio button wasn't available. This is not good service is one is to continue using this program.

Really good, could use improvement
Hi,
I've used this product for several years and have seen continued improvements. I think the interview method could be greatly improved to walk a person through all potential scenarios. For example, it should automatically recognize when the address is entered in whether or not Northern Residents form should be filled out and interview you on it. I would like, where it shows you your refund in the upper right corner of the screen, in the green neon colour, if it would also indicate that persons name for the tax return. For example, I found it difficult to know if I was in one spouse or the others tax return because it kept jumping back and forth asking questions of one spouse then the other and I didn't see any quick easy reference to know who's form I was on..clear and simple.
Also, get rid of this Live Community frame! OR at least put a X box so you can close it. I didn't need it, or want it but couldn't see any option to get rid of it and make a larger screen.

convenient
Using this program from one year to the next makes carrying last years information forward easy. When you are doing your entire family and in laws this definitely saves a lot of time and phone calls. community ask and answer can confuse things.

a few problems
1. Why suggest RRSP'S when my only income is pension Income.
2. On page with total Income summary My total Income is displayed before Income splitting and my wife's is displayed after income splitting making it verry confusing.
3. when I printed a copy of my return for my records all I got were the schedules and not the main pages of the return.

Very good
Turbo Tax does a great job of calculating and linking to the CRA website.
I had one problem while preparing my taxes. After I entered all the information, I had changes to make. After I added more T-4 information, the Charitable Contributions Optimizer did not work. I had to calculate manually and enter the proper amount of Charitable contributions. Then I had to manually enter the Charitable contribution carry-over amount. Other than that, Turbo Tax worked perfectly!

HAVE USED THIS PRODUCT SINCE 1999
EASY STEP WAS GREAT UNTIL IT CAME TO CHANGING SOME THINGS BUT I FINALLY FIGURED OUT WHAT I HAD TO DO TO CHANGE SOMETHING. IF I HAD JUST PAID ATTENTION TO THE WARNINGS AND TIPS I WOULD HAVE BEEN DONE A LOT SOONER THAN I WAS.

Tuition transfers and carry forward of info
Two concerns - the tuition transfer process from my kids is complicated and that's OK but the guides for effecting this are poor. Turbo Tax needs to clean this up.
Also - I am a little disappointed each year when I need to buy the additional package just to transfer my previous year information. I come back to Turbo TAx each year for a reason, perhaps the company should recognize this and encourage it a bit more? I would be inclined to offer discounts to the returning customer instead of the opposite.
Otherwise a good product and I like the fact it is modified each year to answer concerns.

Turbo Tax and Windows 8
We found Turbo Tax easy to use, But not at all with Windows 8. VERY frustrating, we had to dig out our old windows xp computer to get it to work. We like Turbo Tax, Just impossible to use with Windows 8.

Helpful tax program
I have used Turbo Tax for the last 10 years, and have encountered very few problems .
Having said that - entering medical expenses can be quite tedious/ time consuming if you have a lot of them, as there is no builtin feature that auto-completes from the previous entry. I would like to see a feature added to Turbo Tax that would allow you to import these expenses from a spreadsheet or text file, that would make Turbo Tax so much better.
