Unnecessary forms
Sometimes unnecessary forms are generated that are not applicable to the tax situation. This occurs when we answer a (yes or no) question which really doesn't apply, only to find out that the answer can be changed but not deleted altogether. It would be helpful if there was a way to delete such forms once they have been reviewed and deemed unnecessary.

Be Careful
In many respects TurboTax iseasy to use, butthere some things to be careful about. An example: my wife has a business which she is still operating even though she is well past 65. She might be collecting CPP, but she has chosen to continue to pay into the CPP fund even thogh she need not. Somewhere in the early parts where she is being asked about income I thoughtlessly put a check mark beside the question which asked if she had any other income for which she should pay CPP - that's not exactly the question, but the sense of it. At the end when we were about to file the return we got a message saying that she couldn't. The reason given was approximately that she had indicated that she had gone bankrupt or some other reason that prevented her from filing. The reason given was vague to say the least. I fixed this but the indication was still don't file, but I did and we'll see if there any consequences.
Request 1. Make it easier to correct problems
2. Give definite reasons why you cannot file
3. Make it easier to find your way back to a specific point.

Easy to Use
This was my first time using Tax Software and it went well. I like that I could do step-by-step OR enter directly into forms OR go back and forth. I like that it told me the requirements for Netfile before I got to Netfile. I like that it warned me of errors and offered to maximize my donations for the year.

I like the program but one needs to be vigilant ensuring that the calculations are properly captured. Disappointed to note that a program error that I reported last year, which was acknowledged, but wasn't rectified.

Must be good !
This is the only tax software I have used so cannot provide any sort of comparison so it "must" be good. The Easy Step walks you through it but I did find myself stumbling when it came to business expenses I found it confusing.
Netfile demo did not work, fortunately I am a previous user so no problem.
When comparing current year to previous year might be a good idea to flag if a major change is found, something might be forgotten.

Help not so helpful
Example if you are having trouble with a "Blue" entryit only tells you that you must override and may not be elegible for net file - unable to locate answer to question with the help screen. very furstrating

Turbo Tax 2012
Easy and affordable way to process returns for your self and family. Lots of help if needed along the way. Have been using Turbo tax (Formaly Quick tax) for 10 years now. Will use again in 2013. Thanks

Oversight
Overall, a good decent software that really helps make tax filing easy year after year. The only problem I had, which caused me some major headache before, is that the software doesn't clearly indicate that property tax amounts claimed in Real Estate Rentals can not be claimed in Provincial sheets again. Other than that, it is really good for a hassle free filing at home.

Turbo tax is exactly what it claims to be.
However, I wish there was an easy way, built into the software, to increase the text/screen size. I find it very DIFFICULT and FRUSTRATING to read the print.

The netfile demo is on the main page does not open. One has to go help on top of view and click on netfile demo. That needs improvement.

I found a few items on the process confusing.
I am retired and it asked a question about whether or not I had siigned something about no longer having my employer no longer make deductions for CPP - this after 4 yrs of retirement! I could nott find any info on what thiis was about.
I have used other tax file programs and this is the first time for Turbo Tax. I will likely be using it again next year & hope I can do it with more ease.

In the step by step it didnt have Northern Residency prompt, had to go into forms and fill it out. Not a big deal, other than that is was really good.

Good tax software but improvement is needed
TurboTax is good overall. I am a tax professional and use professional tax software for complicated tax returns at work. I think TurboTax is good enough for general home users who only have simple tax returns. I can find the schedules that I want easily. There are good comparisions with prior year or with spouses. The average tax rate and marginal tax rate are calculated which are very handy.
I have the following suggestions to TurboTax.
The input screen (under "Forms" format) for slips/receipts is too ugly. The input field for each line is too short. The input screen should be much larger so that we should be able to see everything we type in for the descriptions or the notes.
TurboTax should also have some kind of slips summary forms that we could print out for review purposes so that we could review the data inputs on the paper printouts rather than checking the numbers on the data input screen.

"Do you have NO income to report?
That was confusing!
Also, the additional home and business expenses should be made clearer! The charts, graphs and rest is confusing (cost of car, milage, taxes, etc...)

One of the better software
Very easy to use. Interview process does the trick.
Would be nice if it could prepare a husband, wife and students return all at the same time to handle tuition transfer easier.

Why do you always tell me to put the medical expenses on the lower income? I get more back when I claim it on my higher income than my wifes lower income. I have done this the last few years and wonder why you do this all the time?

Good Purchase
A good purchase for filing taxes if all you have are forms to enter. Once you start getting into capital gains, I would still suggest taking your taxes to a professional accountant.

helps calm things down
Every year things get a little hectic and stressful and every year it is a battle and a challenge to get everything organized and together. At least with TurboTax it isn't so terrible. Our returns are really quite simple with not a lot of paperwork to worry about. So it's nice to be able to sit down and take life by the horns for a change. It is simple and easy and helps us to figure out who should claim what. We thank our friends every year for suggesting we use Turbo Tax.

TuboTax delivers again.......
I have been a QuickTax/TurboTax user for almost a decade now and wish I would have had this tool when I first started filing, can only imagine what my RRSP's might look like today !!!
Easy to use, lots of tools/simulations, fast and easy to upload/file to the government.

confusing
way too DIFFICULT to switch to spouses return....couldnt find a tab or switch on MAIN panel anywhere and took an unexceptable amount of time to find a way to do it....I dont like paying for frustration....it doesnt make sense
