Turbo Tax Standard
Good Program, I would recommend it to anyone, a basic knowledge of tax filing is required to access the areas you are not sure of as far as entitlement is concerned.

great value
I have been using an Inuit tax prep product for all my family members since the beginning of time, and it does improve every year. My only concern is the difficulty with transferring tuition amounts from dependants. This is not easy or intuitive, and every time I end up guessing....

Some suggestions for improvement
Many things about TurboTax were fine -- I've been using it (& formerly Quick Tax) for years.
It would be most helpful if one could go back & forth between various forms more easily rather than only being able to see one at a time, & having to scroll through the clumsy form lists to keep going back to a few needed forms.
Generally I find that too many things are assumed by the program. If you have different circumstances you have to override something & then you can't netfile -- that is NOT helpful. It would be much better if you allowed the option of manual entry of information rather than making it all so automated.
The other VERY frustrating thing for me was how often all the email and advertising messages talked about 24/7 phone assistance, and it took me HOURS before I actually found a phone number to call! That phone number needs to be more obvious so people can FIND it, or at least something should say that people have to log it to find it. PLEASE make that process easier! Thanks.

small glitch
One small glitch encountered this year: program kept telling me I had claimed medical expenses without completed necessary date info. I had not claimed any medical expenses.

There is a download temporary Fonts message occuring every time one switches from one page to another and regardless of how I respond it continues.

Good Improvements
I've used TurboTax for the last 2 years, previously QuickTax for the last 5 years. It's generally easy to use and has improved from year to year in terms of helpful comments and tips.
I will continue using it as it saves me a lot of time especially as a self-employed individual.

Non-resident glitch
I wasn't able to override the Basic Personal Exemption to prorate it for the number of days of the year spent as a resident of Canada. It needs to be reduced to reflect the number of days as a Non-Resident, but TurboTax did not allow me to do this. Other than this, I'm quite satisfied with the product.

Turbo Tax
Good tool to help complete the cumbersome process of completing an income tax return. Considering how complex and cumbersome the entire process actually is, it would be hard to complete a return without a tool like turbo tax.
Did not find any magic to help alleviate the heavy tax burden imposed by massive federal and provincial governments.
Where TT helps in this regard is with complex math required to calculate what the government expects to receive - and makes the process more "green" by eliminating paper.
Completing income tax return without a tool such as TT would be a rather daunting task.

TEXT IS TOO SMALL
the software is fine. However it would be much easier to use ifthere was a way to enlarge the text so as a person with less than perfect EYESIGHT could comfortably read it.

Preparing to Save and Send
I was quite pleased with the program. However, I was extremely disappointed when it came to preparing to 'send' the program etc . I just couldn't get all the steps down at once. As a result, it is still not 'sent' and I am having to 'try again' or mail it. Please work in this area and make it more useer 'friendly' and efficient. Thank you.

I used this last year 2010 and continue to use it. I did have a couple of errors that I had to call on but the problem was quickly corrected.
This Standard program is quite easy to follow but read carefully and complete every area that pertains to your situation

I recommend turbotax
Overall a great product. Easy to use...even a little fun. Room for improvement: occasionally the explanations use tax jargon instead of plain language...a little more editing needed. But I'm very satisfied...cheaper than an accountant and really helps find the deductions. Turbotax has saved me money and helped me file on time!

good old standby
Soft ware is good. Printing individual forms can be a bit of a bother. Printing final reurn is simple though netfiling is a breeze using this tax package. Would be nice if hub/wife shared self employment statement that it would only havr to be typed once. Interview at beginning is a bit drwan out - could be made more efficient by displaying items from prev year and individual just had to clik on them

small change needed- good product
The software is easy to use and the easy steps are help as are the tips. The one issue I have is not all T- slips are listed. I have a few friends I allow to use the addition Licenses and they had T-slips that weren't listed. We had to use the goto forms and search them, from there they showed. I think it would be easier to ask the question if all t-slip I had where selected, If you choose no then a list of the others would be available. Or maybe since we use the transfer option it could pull over the forms I used last year and allow me to unselect them if they are no longer needed. Face it most of us have few changes from year to year
Other than this it’s all good
