Real Easy to Use
Have been using QT since 2005. Before that used a TAX / accountant for business. Nolonger in business but if I was I would then use the Business Version.
It is not really a chore to do this...Just keep the Tax papers in a safe place and at the end of year install new version and off we go...Easy as Pie...Accually EASIER than Pie... Cheers

Please-Lose the questions!
Overall, I like your product. You've improved it so it's easy to use & gets the job done fairly quickly.
But I really don't like the right-hand side with the questions taking up 1/3 of the screen. You end up sliding back & forth trying to read your return & all the numbers hidden under those questions.
They may be handy for newbies but for those of us who have been doing taxes for years, it really is annoying! At least, give us the opportunity to minimize that part of the screen.

Easiest to Use
TurboTax is the easiest tax filing software I have used. Whether using the forms or the easy step by step provided by the program, everything is easy to find, update and chech for errors.
The summary table could be improved, however. It calculates the tax rate based on Total income and not Net income. This means that if you split pensions, for example, your tax rate is not indicative of the lower Net income.

Visual display needs improvement
Font is very faint and small - causes some eye strain for "older" users! Would be nice to have the option to change or increase font size within the program ( software version ).

Great!
Gets better every year, but my only complaint is that it switches between Wizard and Forms too easily. I don't use the forms, because I can't. I wish there was a button at the beginning to select 'do not view forms until printing'.

Could have less screens
The software is excellent in making us able to prepare our own taxes but to continue improving, the easy step process should elimnate screens that just tell us something is completed. Warnings, errors and fixes should all be n the same screen to reduce screens.

finalizing and filing
Ok - running through Netfile to get ready to file. An error or suggestion is found, and I go to double check. AND THEN I have to start all over again in Review. When I continue with my husband's form, I want to check something, and the whole thing goes back to ME, and I have to work through all the pages again. Right from the beginning. Something is not quite right here.

Very Useful Package
I've used this package for many years and find it very easy to use. I always hesitate to get started with taxes as I've always done my wife and 2 children too but in the end, one evening and I'm done. My kid's forms are done within 20 minutes or so. This year I separated so thought it might be more complicated but it wasn't.
The one thing missing from the package which you might get from a WELL TRAINED tax person would be ways to maximize your return. I answer every question in the software but often wonder if there are other things not mentioned that might help me. Maybe if there was a section of unusual situations that you might encounter. Maybe such situations don't exist. For example under medical expenses I claim the standard as my costs never come close to the maximum as my work insurance covers much of that. I've wondered if that mattered or if it did, could I claim the payments I make to have that insurance? (The answer is "yes" but that is still not enough but you'd not know it with this package.)
Having said that, I've used the package for so many years and had clean returns, netfiled on line so easily that I'll still be using it over the next few years too.

tuition claims
Claiming procedures for tuitions , pre current year as well as current , proved to be somewhat complicated.
Also claiming medical expenses.... as to the proper location ( ei: other ? expenses )

Fast and Effective
Took me just over 2 hours from start to finish to do both my spouse's and my tax returns. Only negatives i would point out are the union and professional fees grid has 4 column headers but only 3 columns which makes it too confusing, and the child activity deduction does not clearly delineate what is federal and what is provincial so it seemed redundant to enter the same number twice until I figured out why (different limits.)

I left the easy-step method to check on an entry and was unable to figure out a way to get back into the easy step process. If you had an option window that asked if you would like to return to the easy-step method would be a big help.

problems

It seems as though the tuition spousal transfer option is hidden within the software. We couldn't find it in 2011, and once we found it in 2012, we found amounts from 2010 were ineligible for transfer. These amounts are carried forward and can be claimed by the individual that incurred them, but only once they are making an income above the base personal amount, which could be years down the road.
It would have been nice to have had a more straightforward and methodical approach to all of the possible deductions.

Good value for the money
This program has good value for the money. This only thing that I needed extra help on was the transferring of tuition. I must not have clicked through the right fields as they didn't come up and I had to correct a filing. Live and learn.
