Cantax Clone
1. Trying to save in the middle of placing Medical Expenses, the program crashed, and 1 hour of work was lost.
2. Cantax/Quicktax had easier ways to shift between spouses and allowed the entry of various number scenarios to see what would maximize both returns. TurboTax does not allow this.
3. Overall, in its second year after purchasing Cantax/Quicktax, TurboTax is easy to use, and it does help with some automatic calculations.

easy to use
This program is easy to use whether you use the forms method or the easy step method. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I use both methods for each tax return I do.. Help is easy to find and the support staff are very helpful. Good product - I use every year.

Turbo Tax - good value
Filed successfully with this software each year for the past three years. Don't put your middle initial on the tax file or it messes up the warnings and won't let you file. Generally easy to use...some of the warnings and tips can get confusing but good help menu available.

Gets Easier Evey Year
I've been using TurboTax for years. It seems like the developers actually look at the feedback they get since small items are addressed and navigation (easy to begin with) gets simpler every year.
The only thing I would change is if 'Warnings' pop up that are more than just general warnings, clicking the link should take you exactly where the issue resides. I ended up getting a warning for something I didn't enter and searched for the possible mistake for a half hour. In the end, I gave up and filed it anyway.

turbotax 2011
I have used Turbo Tax and Quick Tax before it but find this years product extremely frustrating as you jump from one to the other. I do mine and my husband's together and find I'm going back and forth from his info to mine. Would seriously like to see you simplify this to completing one return and then a second before the optimization occurs and then you can choose who gets the deductions.

Review
I think there are some areas that are not clear althoug all the help there is is hard to understand the text in the guide. I believe one of the most frustrating part in understanding capital gains/loss and how to apply to your current taxes.

Quick and Easy
I like the fact that it uploads last year's data seamlessly. It mimimizes the stress of completing the return and the e-file option is awesome. You could reduce the right hand help column in order to give the working area more space.

"FILED AGAIN"
I completed two returns pretty easily and used Netfile as well as on-line payment function. Everything went well and paying was very well managed by the software.
I would really like to see larger and darker font for all the instructions.
I do not like filing my spouse's return at the same time; all the switching back and forth is confusing. It was better when each return was completed in order.
All in all though, I will recommend this product.

Just one problem
For some reason this program kept telling me that I had entered medical expenses and that I had to set a timeframe of 12 months. But I never entered any medical expenses. I went back half a dozen times trying to figure out why it thought I had put any in but there were never any there. Finally I just ignored the warning and filed the return. Very odd and somewhat frustrating. Otherwise the program was great.

Some Fields too small to enter info
Some of the fields are too small for landlord's name company name field is too small for medical receipts. Even address fields are too small.

Stressless Taxes
I have been using this software for years and never had any issues arising from it. The easy step function is simply easy to use, just fill in the blanks. Anybody can do their own taxes in their own home without spending money on accounting firms or tax preparation companies. Why spend more of your hard earned money when you can have it as easy as this? A product well done!!

Problems with splitting pension income
In applying the total chartitable deduction for me and my wife, the program applied all to my return. When I used the optimizer the program still applied all to my return. However, when I came to the part with the split pension income it presented a table with an option of choosing a different split which would give us a larger total tax refund. I don't know why it didn't make the split in the first place to maximize our tax refund. In the end I chose a different split and applied all the deductions to my wife's return to maximize our refund.

Annoyed with marketing tactics
I have used QuickTax for several years, & now TurboTax for 2 years - in the past I appreciated not having blatant windows coming out at you throughout the EasyStep process, pushing other TurboTax products. I also don't appreciate not being able to Flag many of the final pages, & not being able to go back to the page I was working on in the EasyStep process, after consulting a particular form. Not appreciating the possibility of socializing while doing the tax form (twitting???) or while writing tis review. The rest of the features are great - thanks !
