Easy to use
Enjoy using Turbo Tax each year, it's simple to use, very user friendly and, the way that they've created the program it makes it simple to fill out and submit my taxes every year

I found that the optimizer function tended to be confusing and in fact for some reason it kept changing the the deduction to my spouse which created a disadvantage of funds to be returned.

Painless Process
I like using TurboTax for the completion of my families Income Tax. The easy steps walk you through the process, relatively easily. The only areas I would like to see improved is the income splitting, charitable donation splitting and the review of the charitable donations. Although the program asks if you want to optimize these fields, and a number appears, there is no explanation and you have to 'just trust' that you are doing the right thing. Same with the review of the donations. The program will tell you if you have donated too much, but you have to guess as to How Much do differ. Other than that, love the program

better but I want to be have 2 returns open
It would nice to be able to have two returns open at once. I need information from my wife's return in easy steps. I don't print out her return so I have to close my return open hers and then find the info, close hers and then reopen mine.

Errata in Turbotax 2025
-- offer to upload T1135 does not funtion (references non-existent web page)
-- misleading item in T1 ... Line 41700 [Part C, line 139] says "Line 134 minus line 138 (if negative, ener"0") but give *_NO_* INDICATION OR HINT when the value inserted on it is instead taken from AMT calculations.
-- process to download "T" slips from CRA does *_NOT_* properly ignore at least some items maked as delete/do-not-download before triggering the transfer.
-- programme validation algorithm for T3 slips does *_NOT_* an _entirely_valid_ negative number in Box 42 ... and Tech Support tells lies about how to address this problem.

frustrating
This year the tax program automatically put in the FHSA even when the box was NOT checked. Then an error kept coming up unless everything was cleared out.

Never any improvements
From year to year it never seems like TT is spending any time or money in improving its software and user experience.
Even the supposedly context sensitive help is pretty lame. Thank god we have AI now.
TT probably spends all of its time updating the program to adapt to new tax rules which I appreciate can be hard. But there needs to be time and investment made to actually improve the user experience.
Because it never seems to improve, I am seriously considering looking at other tax software next year to see if there is anything better there.

Turbo Tax User 2025
Not happy that we had to upgrade to Windows 11 just to do the 2025 taxes. I have other programs on my windows 10 desktop that are working flawlessly for many years, including current Security Software. The other option for windows 10 is for us to use the online version of Turbo Tax. Why would I do that, I have no idea where my data is being kept! Nowhere could I find any details on this. In addition, the online cost is ridiculous.

Keep & Print copies
Printing a copy produced 9 pages of forms that had nothing to do with this return and 10 pages of forms that back up the figures in the return in addition to the 8 page return. Clicking on the "save a pdf copy for your records" apparently didn't work because I could not find a pdf copy of the return.

Good but not always confident
I have used TT for MANY years. It has generally been excellent. In recent years, I have encountered odd prompts that cause me to question. This year, the First Time Home Buyers credit info came up when I specifically said it didn't apply in my profile. I have also received 'warnings' for things that I have not had anything to do with, said 'No', or never prompted to address.
Finally, I was labelled a 'Factual Resident' last year when I would never have selected that option. I had to write a letter to the CRA to correct it.

Ok, but mediocre for User Friendly
Multiple filings for 2 persons, expense is still better than H&R block. I don't like that for 2025 there is no option to continue with Win 10.

has bugs
Product works well except for misc bugs and you have to chase them down and attempt to workaround. Example. error check tells you about some deduction claimed and you have no entries for film production - the deduction it was pointing to has nothing to do with film production. Or you sell 100 shares of some stock, and it always says "100.000" shares, but on the final form it leaves out the "." so it looks like you sold 100000 shares.

Confusing questioning this year
Software used to be very clear and direct with questioning. This year the separated the RRSP CONTRIBUTIONS into 2 separated redundant areas of your INCOME and DEDUCTIONS, hence making it misleading and confusing.

Accessbility for TurboTax improvment need badly

Bring the CDs back! Face recognition Privacy issue
Please bring the CD's back, there is no need to force us to make an account and take information from us that will eventually lead to asking for face recognition to login, they already have that as an option, which is frighteneing to see as a possibility.

2024 not a god year
2nd time i use turbotax, and this time was way too unpleasant experience, due to bugs, descrpencies, miss calculation. I hoped this is quite straight forward task, that I can handle myself. turns out it it was not a great move.
