CD Installation snafu
You knew about the CD installation snafu with the 2023 CD version since Jan 24, your call centre in India in April was clueless, wasted my time. I searched the web and fixed it myself. Your CEO should have his/her bonus revoked, you dropped the ball this year

printing problems and other
Turbo tax printed the CRA fo rm twice rather than one CRA and one provincial. Made the same mistake for a second person
Impossible to enter income earned on a reserve in the proper line required by the Quebec Revenue service. Overrides didn't work.

Good Product but needs a few Improvements
I have used tax preparation software for many years. TurboTax is a good program except it is getting a little pricey. The Optimizers are a good idea but there is no good explanation with them so you understand how they work. The Optimizer for Splitting Pension INcome is very confusing if you are not sure what you are doing. I wish there was a way for unused Medical amounts to be brought forward for the next taxation year. Filling in the T5013 is complicated and confusing because of missing boxes. Otherwise it is a good basic program

Improve CRA Integration
Okay product but the CRA integration leaves a lot to be desired. T5008 data that I asked not to be imported got imported anyway and USD T5's get over written after I have made the currency changes.

Rust never sleeps
I would like to use the download from CRA feature but it doesn't work for me. Third year in a row. I think it has to do with one of the pension Tslips. Also this year I kept getting "server busy" popups when reviewing and Netfiling. Been using TurboTax for years, but it's getting a bit clunky.

Major Frustrations With TurboTax
I've used TurboTax for years.
This year had a couple MAJOR frustrations.
First it miscalculated the work use portion of my utilities, calculating at 100% rather than 11%. It took deleting the data and re-entering a couple times before it correctly caught it. There is no such thing as proper online customer support, and the phone line wait was LONG and I finally geve up. I finally got it to work, but the online tips were of no help. The soluton was simplly to delete the data. get the program to refresh, then, and it took a couple times. The problem may have been sequence of entry, but that should be able to catch and fix, which it didn't. And no suggestion to clera and re-enter.
Second, I began entering my wife's slips, left to try to fix the calculation error, came back, and it brought me to a blank screen to enter th information even though previously entered, so I re-entered. The program didn't catch the double entry. I discovered AFTER filing, so now I need to hope that Revenue Canada catches this. If not, I'll need to refile. FRUSTRATING. Never had this problem before. For some reason the program, when going back in, didn't take me to my last entry, and I didn't catch this until reviewing the final printed copy.after filing.

problems
Turbotax program said my input did not meet CRA records. I got NO info as to where I should look or double check. I don't think that's fair you pay for the program and get NO help unless you pay more. Also in your review for click no medical and a few other areas but you still get warnings or explore items. If you click NO that means NO.

software Too expensive
I have used this software for couple years. Is it possible that this software will be free? or 5 or 10 dollars? I remember long time ago the paper tax form is free. The free software will encourage more people to file the tax return so CRA will get more tax instead of this 35.00 software.Thank you.

Not terrible, but definitely not great.
Helpfully, TurboTax will tell you when it thinks you've made errors. Unhelpfully, it won't explain the errors at all, just gives you a vaguely-worded warning that doesn't actually describe the problem enough to either a) understand it yourself or b) Google it successfully.
TurboTax also tries to sell you extra features, like extra help or audit protection... during the process of completing your returns. Advertising your other products/services in the software feels slimy. It's interesting that TurboTax won't help you with errors, and then advertises expensive services that would help fix any errors within the same program.
That said, it's not terrible software. As long as your taxes aren't complicated, you don't own a business or work overseas or anything like that, it's fine. It's a little expensive (especially given how much they try to upsell, and how little help the software actually provides), but you can file multiple returns, so the price isn't THAT outrageous if you have a spouse, family, or friends who you can share the software with.
Still insane that we have to do our taxes ourselves in Canada, and even more insane that we have to pay for the privilege, but that's another conversation.
to sum up, it's okay, but it could be a lot better, and it's mediocrity seems like it might be a deliberate effort to sell more products and services.

Charitable Donations Wrong
The program is good however the charitable donation optimizer for many years doesn't work. This year, it would have left me without an almost $20,000 charitable donation carry forward to next year. Not impressed!

Can't apply Capital losses from Prior Years
CRA tellls me on my Notice of Asessment that I have capital losses from other years that I can apply to Capitl Gains in 2023. HOWEVER, Turbotax Standard (the downloaded edition) willl not let me enter an amount on Line 25300. Instead I would need to fill out a complicated work sheet that would require me to look up values from my returns for the last 10 years.

Stop the up sale

Seems to be more errors this year and I had to manually adjust things on the forms to force items to count. There were many more review items that did not make sense or didn't have an easy solution. I also found that the information pulled from last year was not accurate and I had to make changes. My trust has beed effected.

Mistakes made in spelling and date format
Your dates are mixed. One is American and the other is WORLD WIDE (Canada Included).
Using mm/dd/yyy is bluntly 'stupid' and American. (Write $5.00 and then say what is says. See.. it is confusing isn't it.)
And the editor doesn't do their job. "You" is used where "your" should be.

Same Issues every year
Cost of product fluctuates depending on when you want to buy it. Sometimes you buy it and a week later Turbotax sends you an email offering a discount if you buy it. Where was this before the purchase decision was made?
System does not automatically get your previous years' history even though I have been using the software for 20 years.
Continues to give warnings in the review that have nothing to do with my tax situation. Why bother answering the questions when you are doing your taxes when they will just ask them again during the review?
