Concerns
I have been using Turbotax for 12 years and have always been very satisfied until this year. The program has been unresponsive on several occasions. I just tried to print a copy of a secong person and the program did not recognize the name change. Wanted to print the same return again. This has happened previously with this years program; had to sign out for a day the next day the program worked properly. VERY FRUSTRATING!

Not as user friendly
Not as user friendly as previous years too many pop-ups for the price don't know if it's worth anymore to do it yourself may just bring it in and get it professionally done. It took twice as long as previous years for me and I've been doing this for as long as I can remember seems to be greedy that companies always pushing their support instead of really helpful pop-ups like previous years couldn't find any information in The Help menu in this year's program save your money get it done by a professional.

Do Not Switch Over to Online Version
I missed picking up the CD version of TurboTax last year so decided to complete my taxes using the Online version. Big Mistake. This year I got the CD version as usual but then found out that I could not access last years data to fill in needed information and I do not have access to the original file saved online. So now I have lost a year of data.. The program has been good and easy to use but this is a serious shortcoming that I was not warned about when using the Online version. This should be fixed.

Getting old!
Turbotax seems to be getting old and cobbled together like an old mainframe.
Some notes have not been updated for 2022 as they are still referring to 2021.
Some T slips have not shown up in the return with no explanation.
I think I will need to look for a more robust tax software next year!

wouldn't use again
software is buggy
had trouble connecting to the CRA website multiple times then turbotax would crash each time this happened, the tax refund amount is not accurate. When changes are made in one area it doesn't reflect those changes right away (or at all) when moving forward or back in the software.

Not efficient
It would be faster and cheaper to just fill out the paper forms and mail them in. Carrying forward previous year's data and automatically calculating a few values is the only real value added by TurboTax, but I am not sure it is worth the pain of having the program crash and corrupt the file - forcing me to start all over again. Especially since I had to manually enter every trade because the T5008 form does not have a field for line 13.
Make sure to "save as" and save new copies often on two different drives (e.g. hard drive and USB) or you will be re-entering a lot of info.

Getting Worse Every Year
The application has not improved for years. Installation problems with DNS are a constant. Then there is the clunky interface which is not intuitive. Hard to move between forms, data entry for slips is not as per slips, so is cumbersome. Medical entry information is tedious at best.

Printing returns
There are 2 versions of the return, one for mailing/sending to CRA and one for my own personal copy. If I just want to file either version, I have to go through so many steps. I cannot go straight to choosing which reports I want to download or print. And the questions asked that will lead me to the report I want is so confusing eg I always end up printing the version for my own copy and not the one that will be sent to CRA. It's like a loop.

There is a problem in your program logic for spouses living together. Have had the problem now on several family and friend returns where you clearly answer that living together only to have the system incorrectly give the working tax benefit. The error message did not even appear for the one spouse so credit incorrectly given.

The error messages make no sense when I use the simple method and turbo tax does the work. Nothing has changed for tax purposes for the last 18 years (marital status, address, CRA account). If I'm collecting CPP & OAS and I'm able to import my T slips OBVIOUSLY CRA & Service Canada have the correct information so it's a Turbo Tax problem. Because I couldn't net file I have to wait for my refund.

Getting more difficult.
When you've used the program for many years, it's not easy to deal with unexpected and significant changes. Some areas are not easy to find and it's not always easy to go in & out of the program. Bookmarks are not that intuitive. Tying to deal with the setup of Express NOA was impossible.

T1135 problems need to be fixed
I had to do a workaround this issue. Category 7 only allows for 3 country entries. I had 11, so ended up lumping 9 countries into OTH. I may have to file an amendment manually. Also, in Easy Step, the foreign income verification only allows for Yes or No on cost is less than $250000, but not if it is more than $250000 (which then requires detailed reporting). If I have more than $250K, my choice is NO...then the wrong checkbox is ticked on the T1135 form! Unreal.

Purchase Online version - code not Compatible
Purchased Turbo Tax online version through Costco. Was very disappointed the verification code does not work when login to your Turbo Tax account. Aren't they the same company??

Turbo Tax
I used Quick Tax for many years and was comfortable getting around in it. Turbo Tax has changed all that. Line #'s and getting around are confusing. There are forms that I don't need but they keep showing up and I can't get rid of them. I believe that it will take a few trys before I get comfortable with Turbo Tax.

Mixed experience
2020 Experience was positive. 2021 Experience - less so. When downloading T5s from CRA, for some reason turboTax duplicated files, invisibly so that my investment and overall income was inflated. Had to figure our where the problem lay and then delete and re-input manually. From then on, it was fairly easy sailing. Second negative point: My income and tax return is pretty simple, and TurboTax's repeated upselling is a bit irritating. On the other hand, when it works, it works like a charm. Hence the mixed review.

easy steps but not for Quest
Thanks you for making the steps easy. However, I believe for the price we should be able to have a live chat especially at crunch time. You should not have to pay extra for that.

Stick with one. Desktop or online
I purchased the incorrect version last year and returned to the desktop version. I tried to locate the *.TT20 file but was unable to. I logged on to look at that file but not available. i saw the 2021 online version available and completed online. When it got to filing, it asked for payment. I contacted TT directly and they advised my info for 2020 is in the cloud, no tt20 fiile available. I also tried using my activation code but it was ONLY for CD or Desktop, NOT online.
Long story short, I've inputted my taxes twice. This experience could have been so much easier if there was a focus on the customer and providing options. Extremely frustrating

Somewhat disappointing
I've used Turbo Tax since it came out. It has never suggested or allowed the Northern Living Allowance Deduction in the process. I always have to go and find it and fill it out. I wonder how many people this happens to? And do they know they are eligible? In the last couple years, there have been more and more upsell interruptions. I find them annoying. Trying to access last year's return - found it impossible. I'm sure it's not but it should easy to find and view.

OK, could be better
If you buy the package with the license number, its very difficult to get the return started. The online info is all about some other method that is just online? Please make it clearer what site to go to to log in with the license number. Also, don't give so many warnings through the return. You make people think they made mistakes when they didn't, e.g. asking at the very end if you disposed of a property. I thought I said no at the beginning of the return?!

Well worth using
The software and using it on line was great and it's easy to use. Should improve the process for loading the software and using the code to get started is a bit confusing and I had to contact customer support to assist me. She was great and I was soon ready to go!

Disappointed for Employment Expense Costs
I was really disappointed that I had to go searching for the Employment Expenses forms. It should have been part of the interview profile questions to make sure the forms were incorporated through the Easy Step process. The hybrid working model will be in place for many people for at least the next couple of years and a T2200(S) will be part of their tax slips. Turbo tax needs to be more responsive.
