Updates & CRA NOA Express
After Updating the program, the Salutation for Personal Info was blank. The program kept giving internal error and would not go forward. Had to start new Tax return over to get past the problem.
When signing into CRA, received Timeout error and Turbo would crash. When using recover mode the program did not save the Netfile information and had to go through the steps again. NOA Express was not successful, so Skipped CRA NOA to make sure the File was updated with Netfile Info.

STANDARD VERSION PROBLEMS
2015 TO 2020 I used Premier version. HAPPY CUSTOMER!
This year I chose the Standard Version, NO investment info to report any longer.
The 2021 Standard Version will NOT let me SAVE the Individual Forms as PDF files and won't let me PRINT Individual Forms.
This always worked with the Premier version. NOT HAPPY Turbo Tax customer!
Called the HELP line and sadly the gentleman said no one at Turbo Tax can help me. VERY ODD RESPONSE.
NETFILE worked OK. Phew

Be Cautious
The complaint I have with this, is that in previous years, I was able to use the code at checkout when I used the Online Turbo Tax website. This was an actual CD that I had to use. It was very outdated, and I wish they would have allowed me to use the code from the software online (like I was able to in previous years).

over rides
When I did some proper tax planning in regards to RRSP deductions using the"override" method, it just made my return ineligible for NETFILING. Just want to make my contribution in current (lower income) tax year for tax free growth, and claim my deduction in coming (higher tax bracket) years as my income is expected to grow by +20%. Is that not what tax planning is for?

So many software problems this year.
Window 10 upgrade requirement a PO. So many software glitches. Purchased CD but that stopped working after a software upgrade and had to delete & download online version. More time spent getting app to work than I spent actually doing my taxes.

Several significant problems
We had several significant problems with the software for the 2020 taxation year and were very disappointed with it. Just one example: Although nothing had been overridden, several times we received warnings that there had been donation overrides as a result of which the return cannot be NETFILED. These warnings persisted even after we had pressed “Fix” to remedy the matter. This recurred, despite exiting the program and re-entering numerous times. Finally, several months later, the warning disappeared.

Decent, but maybe not as good as it used to be...
I have used TurboTax for years (since back when it was called Quick Tax) and I have always been happy with it. It hasn't changed much over that time, but my experience comparing it against other platforms a few years ago was that it gave me a bigger return than other software options.
This year I found some of the functionality (like Donation splitting) didn't seem to feel as reliable as it had in the past, but I'm hoping that is just this year.
Fairly straightforward to use, the wizards do a decent job of guiding you through issues.

Too many glitches
We have prepared a couple's 2020 return from the 2019 file, so all 2019 info was carried over. Yet the software issued a warning to both of us that our name was wrong, or our marital status, and it might prevent Netfiling. All information was correct - how did this false warning ever got generated? We have chased the non-existent error for a long time. There are several sheets where our name appears and they display it (the middle initial) differently. Also, it cannot possibly match the NOA, because on the NOA the full middle name is printed, not the initial. Must have been teamwork, the programming.
The other issue is that when we work with one return after the other of the couple, such as downloading slips from CRA or the NOA after filing, the program tries to access the second account via the first account's credentials (instead of requesting new credentials) and when that fails, it crashes.
Completing the return was not difficult, but these issues caused a lot of time lost. There were also a large number of warnings that could not possibly apply to us, I am not sure based on what criteria they were issued. Altogether, not a pleasant experience, even though succeeded at the end.

Not for Mac
I have used TurboTax for many years, but now that I use Mac, I cannot use it on my computer. I do not want my personal information stored on a server that is not mine. I have had to buy Parallels to use this on Mac, but will be switching next year. I do not recommend it if you are a Mac user, and want to keep your information private.

crappy support website
the tax software is ok but trying to locate and get technical assistance on the website is a nightmare. I have been using Turbo tax since the beginning and since the advent of online filing the website is mostly setup to purchase new versions and nowhere to be found any kind of non tax technical support. I almost cancelled this year because of it

Good product
Everything works well, except when you want to divide charitable receipts between spouses. This does not work well at all in Turbo Tax. It needs to be fixed. Otherwise, a good product.

Was ok
The program itself was just ok this year. We had numerous problems trying to correct information that was entered inaccurately. Although we deleted the information it kept reappearing. After several hours we deleted the original file and redid the returns from scratch.

worst version ever
Until this year I've really appreciated TurboTax, but not sure this one was better than doing the forms myself. Quite buggy - had to restart to print multiple forms and then again to Netfile; button clicks often didn't register the first time; confusing handling of joint T3s that could be better explained. Kept prompting to enter a CRA access code that was never actually needed. Annoying that I had to provide personal information just to download the software. And of course the Windows 7 debacle that forced me to use a different computer than I would have preferred.

Downloaded version would not install on normal computer (which met all listed requirements). No relevant error messages, no install support phone number provided. Could not install on second computer without 1 hour dive through other users issues and hand editing files/changing screen resolutions. Once installed the product actually worked fine, but no way I would tell someone who wasn't very computer adept to use this product.

Can not make correction
I have used Turbo Tax for years and never had a problem until this year. When doing my daughter's return there was an error saying she was claiming the senior property tax amount, when in fact we were not claiming this amount. Therefore we could not send directly to the CRA, we had to print and mail it.

No point buying
It won't transfer any of your data over from the CRA website, no matter which browser you use. If I wanted to enter it manually, I wouldn't have paid for your program, yet here I am seemingly doing both.

Refund screw up
Could not find info and your tabs above did not respond when clicked.
You said at the end that I had a refund of just under $50. However when I Efiled I was informed by CRA that I owed them just over $250.
You screwed up!!!

Not too bad
The help advice with Turbotax is better than with UFile, but that isn't saying much. The questions asked of the user when inputting data are sometimes not clear, leaving you not knowing whether you are doing it appropriately.

Disappointed this year
I have been using this program since 2012 and have loved it. This year however I got an error code once the CD installed and I was unable to download the updates as usual. I was able to continue and do my own and my husband's return. At the end I again received the error code (TT3013) which stated my disc was corrupt and therefore unable to netfile. After reading many menus and downloading the program off of the support site (which took a while to find), I still experienced issues. I had to leave it and walk away. I came back and attempted to download the program again and after an hour I was FINALLY able to netfile. 2020 has been a dumpster fire, and doing taxes this year was an added last load. A corrupted disc added almost 3 hours of time to my day (split between the hydro going off for about an hour and a half). Time for bed!

Problems still exist!
Too many 'review questions' that are irrelevant. When you open the T-4 box the bottom is often below the bottom of your laptop screen and the button to close the T-4 box thus become inaccessible, so you are stuck there and have to crash the whole program, to close it, and then change the parameters of your screen to a different setting before re-booting it. Put 'close button' higher or make the window smaller. This has been a problem for years.
God help you if you have a lot of stock trades, as hundreds of T5008's will be downloaded when you download other T-4's from CRA "My Account" and then you will have to delete them one by one for hours!!! in order to be able to Netfile. Awful!
