ok
I usually have full confidence in this product but this year I found the interface to be a bit clunky. It would take me to the wrong page when I pressed the back arrow. But overall I like the convenience of doing my taxes with TurboTax.

Good Tax Software
In my opinion, TurboTax software is used by ordinary people with little knowledge about Tax Language/Laws. Therefore, it would make it easier, if some examples are added in the Help file, in order to assist people to understand how calculations must be made or the amounts that must be entered for a specific form. Overall TurboTax is a good software and does the job well.

Easy but beware
It is quite easy to use this software but I've noticed a few changes that are annoying and will make me look for another option next year.
1. The general search is now a paid upgrade.
2. They ask detailed questions that you think are to filter the forms you need to fill. However, you then get slammed with an upgrade suggestion. How lame is that? I've spent $40 for the standard package and you want me to spend another $40 to upgrade? Why?
3. There are a lot of "market research" type questions sprinkled in along the way. This is misleading and may even be contrary to PIPEDA. At the very least, I find it unethical. To leave a review, they ask a REQUIRED question to get a Net Promoter Score but that info is not shared with the readers. I, for example, said I would NOT recommend this product to my Friends. As a reader, you won't see this. At the bottom, you can "Tell Other Customers About Yourself and Connect", with a lot of private info that no one needs (other than those wishing to harvest the data for marketing).
4. The Terms and Conditions suggest they can edit a review. However, to comply with the law, they need to ensure the review is legit and accurately reflects the experience of the reviewer. If they edit it, will it alter what the reviewer intended to convey?
4. Overall, it seems more complicated to use than it used to be.
What I like:
1. Connectivity to CRA to download my tax forms. Be careful when doing this. The software stopped responding and when I rebooted and tried again, I ended up with TWO copies of my forms. I then had to manually delete them one by one!
2. Graphically rich. Doing taxes is a P.I.T.A. so a pleasant UI is much appreciated. UX needs work.

It's okay but previous years were MUCH better
I found this years version to be very annoying. Asking me the same questions throughout the process I found to be just a waste of time. In the beginning stages it asks about medical expenses and if you had any. I marked no and then the program continued to ask me about medical expenses even to the point where it came up in the sum up section. I found there was multiple question like that regarding other income and expenses. All in all, not a very good experience and I have used these programs for many years now.

Product seems okay but telephone support BITES!
I spent nearly an hour trying to find the site that allows you to download product updates but was unsuccessful.
When calling telephone support -- and waiting for nearly 40 minutes to talk to someone -- I was told that that option no longer existed. When I asked why, I was simply told that it was their "policy"...what does that even mean?!
The call went on long after that but, suffice to say, the outcome didn't get any better.
This is what dedicated users of this product can expect...how sad.
It would be nice if a company actually gave a crap about their users...i.e. those from whom they continue to generate significant profit$!!!

Cumbersome, but usable
The user interface in TT is decently conceptualized. Major issues for me:
-too many little errors hiding here and there (e.g. in the Foreign Tax Credit calculation)
-usability is not uniform (e.g. itemized field lists can't be shared across spousal forms)
-filing step is somewhat confusing {e.g. if you ALREADY have a CRA account, it assumes you "aren't ready to go paperless" if you decline the setup)
-checking everything is NOT at all very helpful

Still needs work after all these years
I used Standard, CD version. The Easy Steps option is annoying for someone that uses Forms to enter their information. If Forms has been used, Easy Steps doesn't import that info, so you have to answer everything all over again to get to your Provincial Profile. The "help" at the top of the page quotes directly from the tax guide. It would be better if Turbo Tax expanded on those definitions. I did not try the AutoFill option, as MyCRA is a hassle to sign in on a good day. The Customer service reps don't actually know the tax forms or who is eligible for what credits. I finally figured out the answer myself. My rep was very patient, though!

Good enough for proprietorships and rental prop
Good enough sums it up. Standard has all forms required to do rental properties but it is so aggravating that when you split a property between husband and wife, it does not automatically fill in the numbers on the spouse's form. Also, I think it may do CCA wrong in certain cases--check and double check these.

Program starts very slowly about minute or minute and a half to show on the screen any time you will start work on that. In my situation was crushed couple of time and also for first attempt to NetFile was rejected by CRA. After restarting program NetFile was likely accepted by CRA. For that long time on the market and claimed #1Tax Software I’m very disappointed about that performance.

TurboTax Standard T1135 Lacking
I have used TurboTax Standard for many years. Standard does everything I need except allow completion of Part B of the T1135. The T1135 in TT Standard does not allow extra lines to be added in part B. Thus the TT T1135 cannot be submitted using Netfile or completed, printed and mailed. TT throws up error messages on review because the T1135 is not properly completed. The fillable T1135 PDF from the CRA allows lines to be added so the form can be printed and mailed but not Netfiled. Intuit has had many years to fix this problem.

I expect Turbo Tax to be a great product - If it is a great product - then you rate it as average. This is the standard it must live up to. At one stage Turbo Tax was accessible to the users. When you had a question about the product you were able to phone intuit and get fast friendly help.

What changed this year
The auto fill feature to transfer information from last years return was not working.

Failed to Find previous year's tax info
I mentioned to a friend; they had same problem, but was smart enough to reinstall (which worked). I unfortunately did chat with Turbotax, and they said "too bad, so sad... re-enter all the needed info."

Recurring problems with software
For the past several years I've had problems installing Turbotax from the CD purchased at Costco. Each year I eventually had to download the software from the Turbotax website. This year I again had problems. When I contacted Turbotax support, I was told that I needed Windows 10, despite the fact that on the box in which I purchased the CD it clearly states: "Operating Systems: Windows 8 or 10 required". However, I did eventually manage to once again download it from the Turbotax website, despite having Windows 8 rather than 10. This particular experience as well as one more with another Turbotax support staff member have diminished my confidence in Turbotax.

Not a Good Year for Turbotax
I found the program to be unorganized - other years i have been able to follow the tax slips and allowances - this year, all of a sudden the program was finalizing and i had not entered a large portion of my deductions.
The $400 Pandemic Home Office Grant was very difficult to enter.
