Generally Works well but has CLUMSY NAVIGATION
1) User interface is a bit clumsy. As you navigate the forms, there is no easy way to navigate back to an earlier set of forms (like a back button in a internet explorer environment). This forces you to repeatedly look up the forms over and over again. Right - clicking the mouse does toggle between 2 forms, but there is no navigational history beyond that.
2) T5008 forms that are loaded from CRA website CANNOT BE easily changed with a GLOBAL command to delete entire set of fields (like in an Excel SS). This is a major issue if you have to deal with reporting a larger number of transactions.

This is helpful to do simple tax returns
I have found some changes that I don't like. At one time you were able to enter things like donations all on one page not a separate page for each one (I don't like to enter a total only)

Update
TurboTax did not tell users that the purchased copy has to be updated, otherwise the completed return cannot be sent out through NETDILE neither can it even be printed.

Generally good

When I needed help it was extremely difficult to find a way to talk to a human being. I was sent to the US people instead of for a Canadian return and after more that an hour on the phone my question was still not answered. I ended up going to CRA for my answer.

Time for a few improvements
Beyond Netfile, nothing new in 15 (?) years. Should be able to import or Cut and Paste into worksheets such as Medical or Investments or Donations. Help is Terrible - based on first version of Visual Basic in 1972. Time for a few improvements.

Some Errors in software
There is an Error in this version. I have used the software for many years. I have severely handicapped son, 31 years old, that I claim as my dependent. This year I got a message: "You cannot claim Mark, because Mark was 18 or older on Dec. 31, 2020."
Another problem: you refer to "Interview Navigator" when trying to remove the check in Child Care Profile that does not have this item.

Helpful Addition
I found that I wanted to print a copy of a particular page (ie: page 4 of the first 8 pages) as I was working on the return but could not do so as it wanted to print out the entire return. This would have been helpful. I had to wait until the entire return was completed, then saved in a PDF file.

Software could be more user friendly
Contextual help screens are not very useful... I ended up going to the CRA site for info. Data entry for Tslips is cumbersome for Fed and complimentary QC slips (ex. T5 and R3s). What information from the Fed slips get mapped where in the Qc slips is not intuitive. More QA with real users would be helpful

Not Happy This Year
I had difficulty entering the dividends and capital gains. The numbers were doubled and I almost accepted the numbers. Where was the warning. For some reason the capital loss that occured in 2016 was not able to be entered into my 2020 Tax Return. It wasn't a large amount of money but when the override feature does not work you just don't have faith in what happens to the numbers.

Good, but could be improved
Summary display should show the grand total refund/balance as well, not just two individual numbers. Medical receipts window shows only 3 receipts at a time, but could show more than 3 receipts.

Flaky connectivity
TurboTax hangs up when it attempts to download data from CRA. Only works if browser cache is cleared and history deleted prior to download if a prior attempt to download has been made.

Tuition transfer
Hard to understand why there is still unused tuition transfer amounts even though I didnt need any more deduction and wanted to transfer the unused amount to a parent.
Should be some explanation as to why
Is it because it was carried forward from a previous year, if so please indicate this somewhere!

going to find something else for next year
after preparing all work from home expenses carefully QuickTax rejected them and made me use the $2 per day method. Also with rental income I ended up retyping in all information because it wasn't clear how to access and edit previously entered information. This was frustrating. Better thought out navigation tools would have saved me a lot of time, I think its time to explore some different products.

2020 Edition Problematic
Usually a great product but major issues with the 2020 edition. Spent close to 4 hours troubleshooting, multiple installs and uninstalls and on the phone twice with tech support before finally getting the software to launch.

not as good as it was
I have used Turbotax for about a decade or more, but lately it has slipped in clear concise questions. For instance when doing medical expenses it asks for the total and then less the insurance portion, but the totals shown says we are paying the insurance price, not what we actually paid. Also netfile gave an ambiguous reason for rejecting the filing saying something is incorrect. I am going back to paper and pencil,

2020 Version has problems
Every time I start up the 2020 program I have to re-enter the Licence Code. I have to do this a couple of times before I can get into the program. I called the help line and redownloaded the program. It is still doing it, but at least I can get in after a couple of tries. Very frustrating.

Needed Help

Charitable donation split
I have been using Turbo Tax for many years and this year decided that it was advantageous to split the charitable donations with my spouse. The software will not allow you to do that unless you override the entry field and then your return can not be netfiled. The whole amount of the charitable donations can only be claimed on one of the returns or you can claim some of the donations on one of the returns and carry forward the balance to future years. This inflexibility of the software cost me several hundred dollars this year.
