Not as good this year
This year Turbo Tax was finicky. a couple of times I got an error on the CRA website while trying to import slips, and the software got stuck in limbo and I had to restart. Also, the loss utilization functionality is poor. The software should identify whether you have capital losses available to use and help you optimize it. I had to do it manually.,

program would not load
This is the first year that lntuit has not provided an upload to correct the problem with the program. The non-loading due to blank screen has everyone complaining and Intuit not doing anything about it. If you cant take the time to fix it, you should be refunding the cost of the program.

Too many repeat warnings
When a warning has been addressed it should not come up again. Software should be able to tell that I have already checked the warning or completed the necessary action.

Challenges
The first return that I did, did not get saved because I found out that every time the program asks you to save your return, you have to save it or you will not be able to access the return again. Also, I found the program very difficult to go back and forth to different screens. If I was in Review and Print and wanted to go back to Profile and change something, I had to try to do this several times.

Have used turbo tax for years and with the changes incorporated this past year, will not likely be interested in buying this product. IT was cumbersome to use and not as simplistic as other years. It also did NOT calc the # of days for coVID nor did it calculate my donation receipt and I had accepted all updates.

|Although most of the program works good <the help link is not very friendly. It took me awhile to find out the this year i could not buy another disc with another Security Licence code. |If I did I had to load it on a different PC this was a total nascence.I have done this in the past years so why the change?
I do hope you change it back .

Netfile
Final netfile and printing pages could use some cleaning up. Sometimes uncertain which way to go or what answer should be checked off. Where is the exit or finished notification or button at the end of a return?

Harder to update than prior years
Turbotax no longer allows you to update certain information directly in tax return, you have to go into their easy step function and walk your way through the various screens to get to the data field you want to update. I prefer the ability to change in the return if needed by double clicking, etc.
Also, when completing my son's first tax return ever, CRA wouldn't accept it until I changed the information to say he had filed a return in prior years. I do the taxes and he had no income prior to 2020 ....

Has Bugs But Works
Had problems loading the CD onto my laptop but eventually successfully downloaded TurboTax 2020 from the TurboTax website. I'm a long time user and use the Forms method but had problems with some fields not populating properly from other forms. You cannot Netfile if you override these fields, but after hours on hold and then speaking with at least 3 different TurboTax agents I was able to work around the problem by using the Easy Step method. Then its easy to Netfile and get my return quickly. Overall a pretty good tax program but has a few bugs.

Pretty good
Expensive to just do basic household taxes.
It has some annoying things like asking you the same question several times. Asking a question that is in the form of a statement rather than a question.

Confusing
When the program asks about investments, stocks in particular it should specify if they are in or out of RRSP's or TFSA's.
Otherwise not bad.

Carry Forward from Previous Year
The carry forward sheet is not user friendly.
You have to go to each individual form in order to carry forward the amount to next year rather than given the choice to carry forward to the following year.

northern allowance
This product does not automatically ask if one is from a northern area where more refunds are available. I wish it would ask the question and then direct a person to that area rather than the person have to scout around for it. Also let people know how to get the best refund by instructing on travel and how that is affected.

EASY TO USE
I always use the Forms Method but this year had to go through the Easy Step Method as I was unable to check off certain boxes on page 1&2. Also unable to input instalment payment and digital news tax credit amount directly on return. Had to use step method to enter amt. Very frustrating.

TurboTax 2020 Standard
Turbo Tax does not keep track of capital loss well enough to match CRA's record.
It also does not help taxpayers to get working from home tax credits automatically. These shortcomings should be fixed.

Still SLOOOWWW to load!
Good overall in terms of reliability for ensuring all answers accurate and complete. That's why I recommend it. On the down side, still the SLOWEST-loading (over 3 minutes!) s/w I have. Poor coding??? Also, for first time, I experienced the Error TT401 error when trying to save files. Noticed on user sites that this has been an issue for years. My workaround was to move the stored file to the desktop and then save the file-in-use, then delete the desktop file (after ensuring newly-saved file was intact!). This worked every time, but was still annoying that this perennial bug nad not been addressed by Intuit! Fix this, guys (and the slow-load) ... or give this klutzy s/w away for free!!!

There should be a link to CRA for the Capital Cost Allowance categories and category rates. I had a hard time finding this information on CRA's complex Web site.

2020 version not up to par
I have been using this program since it was known as Quicktax. It was always excellent but this 2020 version has many problems with entering data in the forms version. Please double check this in future or I personally will not use the program again.

Not Feeling the Love
This year -- with the 'vid and all -- I find that my motivation to do the family's taxes have really reached the bottom.
I'm thinking that with the minimum of fun I had this year, the end is nigh for me doing taxes for the foreseeable future. Next year we will have to have an accountant wrap up the estate, might be a good time to have her do everything.
Too many weird queries from the software and too many times having to hit some of the buttons more than once to advance to the next screen.
Not feeling the love I used to feel w/r/t doing the taxes.

Quality Has Gone Down
I've always liked the Turbo Tax, but the 2020 version was very slow and it repeated questions and was not easy to use.

Hasn't improved much
Loading last years return to make it easier sort of works. Hope you remember what you claimed turbo tax probably will not
Everyone in Manitoba qualifies for a seniors credit regardless of age and its impossible to turn off if your doing a joint return.

Normally Aspirated Tax
I have used this program for years with good results, but it is slow to calculate and switch pages, could use a larger turbo. The yes/no questions for dependants are ambiguous and should have better clarification (CRA included in this). Needs clarity on if there is any benefit to what spouse is better off claiming CAI or medical expenses.
