Disappointed
I was very disappointed with 2019 Standard Edition. Despite having used the program for several years, it did not pick up former info. So, extra work involved starting new returns for my wife and me, and no comparative info re past returns.

work in progress? Early beta?
It seems like this software is unfinished, or maybe it stopped evolving many years ago. Maybe programmers got lazy. Or just old. Or both. Take for example the inability to switch to french. Completely unacceptable in this country, period. And how about those big weaknesses in the (dated) interface, like all those forced useless clicks: Time wasters. Obese software? It feels like poor engineering. Do intuit programmers even uses the product? Sorry about this harsh review, but it's 100% constructive, and it's also 100% deserved. Bottom line, please use this: Doing my taxes is a pain and this software should take away the pain but it fails badly in that department. in its current state, your software is aggravating, at best. two out of 5 stars may seem ok to you for "easy to use", but it's a score of 40%, a failing mark.

Review
Have used turbo tax for at least the last 10 years. Made filing so much easier. However,this year,after filing I found out I could claim the Climate Action Incentive which had not been mentioned when I filled out my income tax. Had to refile. Was this an oversight on the part of turbotax?

forcing upgrade to windows 10
it is unfortunate that you will no longer accept windows 7. never had a problem and don't want to upgrade. after years of using intuit i will have to find another tax product for 2020 tax year

Could be vastly improved
It does the job. However, in order to up-sell the software or services annoying offers and repetitive questions are asked over and over again to the point of driving the user crazy. I do use this software for 10 years now and I have noticed that it is getting worse every year. I understand that filing taxes is complicated math and that Turbo Tax needs to take care of ALL that are using it, however reducing number of click by 30% will be greatly appreciated.

getting old - needs updates
I believe TTax needs some attention. It's getting old and doesn't seem to have kept up. It seems like it's just being modified, whereas a new version should be considered. It's getting disjointed.

Frustrated
Firstly I want to say that Turbotax is a great way to do my taxes. I really do like it BUT there are 2 things that I find quite frustrating about the software. 1) Sometimes I was unable to enter information into a field with the interview process. I wasted much time trying to figure out why. It would be nice if there was button that would refer me to the appropriate form for the area I was working on. 2) The NetFile wording was super frustrating. The options were 1.Do you want to register for getting your emails and paperwork on line or 2.No I'd rather go paperless. There needed to be an option for 3. I already have a CRA account. I spent a ridiculous amount of time trying to figure out if I had missed something prior to getting to this point. I went on Goggle and help on turbotax but didn't find anything that would help. Finally, out of exasperation, I clicked option 2 and hoped for the best. In the end I was able to submit my taxes but wasted a lot of time.

Errors in 'transfer 2018 return'
Some of the values that should have transferred from 2018 to 2019 didn't. Most did. It's sheer luck that I spotted it.

Update have made the product less user friendly
Several updates have made the product less user friendly for the 2019 tax year...
1) Does not prompt you to import information form previous year. Now option is hidden in file menu.
2) Some of the help screens are not input field aware and the help screen simply returns the information that they are field aware but actually are not.
3) Import of some tax forms does not actually complete even though messages indicate they have. MAKE SURE TO VERIFY WHAT IS IMPORTED FROM CRA it two attempts to get information on T4A to transfer into turbotax!!

Poor Changes from 2018 Form
in the 2019 version simple things like payments by installments cannot be entered directly from the Forms but have to go to Easy Step. This is really confusing and difficult to figure out. You Help on this is useless.

Frustrated
I have been using this service since it first started as Win Tax. This is the first year that I had multiple problems with the tax software. I purchased the Standard tax software on CD, loaded it onto my computer, went to open it & an error message came up: CORRUPT FILES. Erase & reload. Came up corrupt files again. Erased again & downloaded from online. Did my & my wife's return up to the point of net filing. Let sit for several days. Opened up program & notice came up of an update available. Download & install update. Again an error message of corrupt files. Erase & had to download software from online again. Then I could do a review again & net file both of our returns. Love the Turbo tax software & use it every year, but this year was a bad experience & hope it never repeats.

For simple returns, not as intuitive to use
It is not as intuitive as I expected it to be. I did not feel confident that I had filed the returns properly and was taking advantage of allowable credits and allowances.

I've used TurboTax for many years without any issue and would always give it a 5-star rating as it's easy to use. However, this year, I'm unable to print a clean copy without a "Duplicate - Do Not Send by Mail" watermark inserted onto the document. An Intuit representative kept telling me to repeat the same steps several times which has not solved the issue. Representative indicated it doesn't happen on her end and said that it could be my PDF program that automatically inserts the watermark, but that doesn't make any sense as how would my PDF program know to insert those exact words? It would be appreciated if someone could provide me with a solution.

know what you are doing before you start!
I began using Quick Tax for the 1999 taxation year and have done so every year since. (now as Turbo Tax) This is the most frustrating version for me. In the review I was informed of a grave error on my T4A(P) form, Box 23 (number of months). I found NO WAY to correct this mistake. The book mark was of no help to me and I needed it several times. To compensate I had to manually go through and press 'continue' for every page three times.
I felt anxious most of the time I was working at doing my civic duty of filing my Tax info.

confusing when you have t5008. wasn't sure if you entered the t5008 AND capital gains/losses. But if you do that it double taxes you. It would be nice to add that if you have a t5008 you shouldn't also reported it as capital gains.

4 Problems Not Solved
1. Too many adds suggesting I need to upgrade, when I actually don't. No option to skip all adds. (Frustrating) 2.Income lumps together various sources, some not displayed in worksheet.(Inaccurate) 3. Caregiver medical expenses must be entered twice: in medical expenses & dependent information.(confusing)_ 4. RE: My CRA Account - does not give option of already having this set up. (Redundant) Have used TurboTax for many years - it should be getting easier to use, not more difficult!

TT Slips handling still poor.
For at least 10 years I have complained about how T5, T3, T5008 slips are input/stored and not-listable in TT. It's time this MAJOR inconvenience/annoyance is fixed.
1.Can't see more than 3 slips at a time, less if some of them are blank.
2. Can't get rid of blank slips.
3. Can't skip through slips by holding down the fore/back arrow. Must click once for each slip you want to skip.
4. CAN'T LIST/PRINT THE SLIPS THAT HAVE BEEN ENTERED!!!!
5. There is no way to know whether or not you have seen all the slips you've entered, except to keep clicking to the right over blank slips in case there is still one more to the right!!!!!
The slips input/viewing system is atrociously poor.
All the rest of TT is pretty good, but the lousy slips system pretty well overrides the good.

not as easy this year
I would like to have the option to pay my spouses owing tax from my refund.
I found the HELP option very confusing this year, not easy to navigate the process very well.
The end questionnaire had a lot of not relevant questions regarding Turbo Tax, long and senseless

Worst version ever
I've used this product for many years and have recommended it to others. The 2019 software was asking the same questions over and over (not using input info). the warnings and tips made no sense. A single, unmarried guy living at home cannot claim rent or property taxes that he has not paid. Whats going on???

decent software
i have been using it for years as all my info is carried forward however over past two years the server is extremely slow and freezes up quite often. other than that pretty easy to navigate.

Cannot import from online version
Canadian version will not allow importation of data from online version. I tried online version last year and it was not as comprehensive as download so I switched back to download and was dismayed when I discovered this limitation.

Needs some work
Very easy to file taxes, easy to NETFILE, but, in some dialog boxes, some text is huge (around 42 pt) and some is unreadable (about 4 pt).

Will Use Again
Have used for years. Easy to follow. Think the software had a problem. Did two returns & it would jump to different areas on its own. Never had this problem before but won't stop me from using it again & returns were done correctly.
