some problems
1. When I tried to install Turbo Tax on my desktop computer that i had used for the past 5 years for my tax returns, I could not install it. After several attempts, some of them following instruction from Turbo Tax, I still could not install it ( uninstalled anti-virus, c cleaner, Advanced system care, Anti-Malware programs, run as administrator -still without any results).. Just last week, I had a brain wave about installing the program within my administrator account, which I had created and it worked - i still do not understand why it installed within my administrator account and not if I ran set-up as an administrator?
2. During my tax preparation I would check the Reviews after and before each session. I found that at times without my having made any changes, the pension income splitting would be a different number. I finally have it now that when I go in to Turbo Tax and check the pension splitting and all other results they are the same as when I closed the last session so I was able to net file today.
3. For the first time, after using Turbo Tax for some time, I found it to be challenging and a bit problematic.

Investment Income
There was a field during the process to optimize the investment income for couples but when I tried to go back after making some adjustments to other areas of deductions like donations and medical expenses, it was hard to find the "slider" to play around with the optimizer. I could go back to the donations one and pension split but not the investment income. I had originally entered in 50% in the T-slips area.
Also there needs to be a clear understanding when filing in couples together whether one should file the same slip on both returns and enter 50% and the program would know how to deal with both entries.

OK with some quibbles
This was the 4th year I have used Turbotax. I found it much more difficult to use than in previous years. Perhaps because our investment income and associated items had changed.
I found it awkward or difficult to use the help screens, and difficult to figure out how to find the source of the information that appeared on the T1.
But maybe it was just me...
I probably should have used the Premier version; I may try it next year.
Also, I bought the online version and was never able to download it, prompts would not appear once I reached a certain point. So I had to get a refund (very quick!) and buy a boxed version at a nearby store.

Less explanatory, complicated
In previous versions, almost anything you click on would give you a detailed information. No more. Struggled with Cost Capital Allowance,trying to understand what it is, whether it applies to me or not, and if not, then why does it keep asking for information I do not know where to get. Had to Google it; decided it does not apply to me; left blank. Still not completely sure I did the right thing.

very confusing this year with the error code 805 after downloading from disc. did this 4 or more times and finally figured out not to reload but download from internet. Verv, very confusing instructions. You need to improve yur communications. still have to figure how to file... but where is the easy button to do it?

OK could be better
OK software . Others that are less clunky are better for simple returns and some are free. My main complaint is that I cannot copy and paste data either into their forms or from their forms. Best features are capacity to download T forms from CRA , to file return electronically, and a return to showing effective marginal tax rate.

Very disappointed with Turbo Tax as I did a return in February to someone who needed their funds to pay for food and rent and I could not submit online. Had to print and he did not get his money until Feb.
Also I would like to continue using windows 7 and I am constantly asked to upgrade. Filing taxes is the only time I use windows as for everything else I use mac.

Tech tweek needed
I've used the forms method for this product for many years but find that the font on the screens for entering the slips is too small and needs an adjustment option. Working on a small laptop this years was really difficult. Customer service is useless at the best of times. I was told to use the easy method and not do it myself on the forms method. I was on hold for a long time for this useless information.

Ok Software
Over time the software has gotten less user friendly and less helpful.
Ask me once if I want to buy audit defense or upgrade, don't ask me every darn time.I go to that screen.
Finding Easy Step used to be easy, but not anymore. Once you go to review individual forms, then want to go back to Easy Step, you need to search for it, why don't you just put a Button on the top.
F1 should give you help about the box you're in, don't bring up a big box with help for the whole form and then make me try to figure out which is the right thing to select.
Ok, all in all I've used it for a number of years but I really don't think it has improved any, and it fact I think it is less helpful.

Underwhelmed
Turbotax should not ask users to check boxes to indicate whether a particular criteria applies to them because a lot of the time, users do not know whether the criteria applies to them. Instead, Turbotax should simply prompt the user to input his or her amounts (eg. T3, T4, ... etc.), and Turbotax should then determine whether a particular criteria applies to the user and complete the tax return accordingly.
I have been a user of Turbotax from the day it first came out many years ago. When it first came out, Turbotax was much more user friendly!!!!!!! But as the years have passed it has become increasingly more frustrating to use.

Some confusing issues in 2019
After using TurboTax for many years, this is the first year I was disappointed. 1) In doing my taxes it recommended an upsell to Premier "because one of the following applies", but none applied. I think entering T5's triggered that. 2) After entering all investment info (T5s) I was then prompted with "Your investment profile for 2019". There was no notice saying only enter info not on T5s already entered, so I did as I was instructed and ended up with all investment income entered twice. 3) When pension income is split with spouse, in the total income summary, it shows spouse getting split amount, but pensioner still getting full pension. A note to say credit for the split portion will be applied later would avoid confusion.

OK mostly but some huge errors
Been using for years. Mostly ok but some real problems. When you open the T-boxes buttons at bottom are off the screen of laptop causing real problems. You have to change the monitor settings to reach them. Also entering medical receipts in same T-boxes ridiculously slow due to the fact there is no copy & paste function available to enter repeating info i.e. 'Name of Patient' or 'Description' again and again, so you have to type it each time. Real boring if you have 70 Rx receipts to enter.

Good, but could be better
I have been using TurboTax for many years, but the 2019 edition seems to be lacking "modern" functions. The search function is from the Windows 95 era. Some functions are hard to find. E.g., where to split 50% income for joint accounts... not easy to find in the software! I had to Google it, read and search, and read and search on TurboTax website, before I (finally) found something valuable.

Tax program is good, just try getting a print out. After several attempts for a print out I gave up. Due to Covid-19 I can't set up a CRA account (site is accepting new users) so I tried to print...not possible. Now what? Can't file and can't print to send a paper copy, so waste of money.

crashed when importing T4
Great product which we use every year. However when trying to use the import of T4's for both my husband and myself system crashed. We couldnt import and wasted all that time logging into the cra website and going through all the prompts. Should have saved time but did the opposite. Its buggy so dont use it. Just take the time to enter in all the numbers yourself.

Glitches
I was never able to install the C+ thing at the beginning. I was not able to register online at all. Called 3 times to see how to fix both problems . Eventually was able to talk to an agent. By then I had lost a day and maybe 3 hrs. of my time. Even then there were no updates!I wondered if I was going to be able to file correctly. After having used this program for at least 10 -15 years now, I am going to consider another product next year. This the second year there are problems that leave me irritated.

Good for forms based returns
I have used Turbotax for several years, and it works for me as I prefer to enter data through forms rather than through the interview method which for some software is the only option.
My one complaint this year was the windows 10 nag message that kept popping up every time I went into the software. Once is enough - I am not going to downgrade to Windows 10 until I buy a new computer so don't bug me multiple times.
And unfortunately, if I am still with my current device (which works fine) the decision not to allow future versions of Turbotax to run in windows 7 means I will likely have to try a competitor's software.

mixed about 2019 version

2019 Turbo Tax
Turbo Tax for 2019 seems to be like the economy this year, very temperamental. Some features not working, saves not saving, had one return save it under 5 different names. Last return showed 2 different refund amounts, very strange.

Save Function doesn't save
The program itself is not bad. However the save function is awful. I lost 4 returns yesterday that were saved, program confirmed they were saved, but they were not. 5 hours of my time completely wasted.

disappointed
I have used this product for years, and have always been satisfied. However this year I found it harder to use and navigate. The search functions did not show the page they told me to search for, the info wasn't extremely helpful unless you knew exactly what it was that you didn't know and the errors were very hard to fix. I had only one but it kept saying that it could not fix it, to the point that i had to start all over again. Very disappointed that i had to waste hours of my time for one error, and one check box that could not be unchecked.
