Overpriced
The interface and process flow seems just a bit less stable each year. It is only habit and advanced age (and hesitation to learn yet another piece of software) that keeps me coming back.

confusing
TurboTax can be confusing at certain steps; especially the part when I Net filed. I do like the optimizer for getting your best refund.

Has hitches
The hitch of the year, 2019, was on page 1 of the T1 return. The box for year of bankruptcy was filled in with 2019; I did not become bankrupt this year, or any other, but I could not remove the entry. The help facility, as usual did not help. I sent it in with the error there in hopes the government tax gurus will see it was an error.
Every year there is a small but consequential error, and every year I have to scrutinize the PDF to check for them.

Always Want Better
The packaging and price can be improved. I bought a box at the store because it was cheaper than online. I had to download because my laptop does not have a CD reader. CRA revised their forms this year and Turbotax made a quick and somewhat sloppy fix to work with the new forms. I would like to see a user manual that I could download along with a short summary sheet.

Some observations
I have a 4K TV as my monitor - why is the text so darn big on my screen. Nothing else in Windows 10 is so big.
Manitoba property tax credits form very confusing between "total taxes paid" and "school taxes paid" - need to clarify this.

common Law/individual or joint return?
Your Std. CD turbo tax selected a joint return, never asked me what I preferred. then it would not allow me to change to individual, so I had to start all over again. This is a change to previous versions as I have used the program for more the 5 years. Not sure I will use it again.

I don't like being pushed to upgrade to a more expensive version(by making standard less helpful). Was unable to import last years info so had to input everything, making me wonder if any sense buying Turbo Tax or better to use free gov. forms.

Your answers on T5008 problem was not helpful. Got the answer from the bank.
Too many pop up ads getting you to buy other services.
Too many repetitive questions!!!!!
Why did you get rid of joint filing amount owing or refund indicator as you moved through the program?

It has changed from last year
Last year I was able to import all information from the CRA including T4 information, but this year was only RRSP information. I need to manually enter my T4 information. I found a lot of questions are confusing. It's required to put my spouse net income on line 23600 on tax return, which I have no idea how to get it as my spouse did not even file the tax yet. On the other hands,If my spouse did first, then it will ask for my information. I mean, how do we know this information when we did not complete it yet? Well, I just use the net income showing on the T4 instate not sure if this works. I believe everyone will have this issue.

Difficlut to navigate
The new so-called "Tax Guide" (on-line,) is totally useless! (Try finding how to calculate the "age amount" exemption). I suppose that's CRA's fault. But the in-program guide is not much better. The old printed guide at least gave you the required information, and you could find it easily - it referred directly to line numbers.
There is no index, only a general Contents, which gives almost no information on how to use the forms. (CRA's guide)
The program itself was easy to enter the original information (although the Import function did not work), but it is extremely difficult to go back to look at your entries. Previous version had links along the top. This version has links down the side, but only allows new entries - can't correct existing entries.
Last year's version was much easier overall!
The only reason I would recommend Turbo Tax is because the new CRA Tax Guide is so useless. I think it would be impossible to do taxes without the program.
BTW - when I ran the Optimizers again the next day (with no changes), it increased my refund by $100!

glitches
This year's version has several glitches. It was very frustrating using the program because whenever I would save the return, when i revisited the following time, there was always something changed. Printing the return with blank forms is such a waste of paper. Please do something about these glitches for next year.

I noticed an Ontario Childcare Access credit error, which only took into account my income and not my spouses. Amount was not filled in automatically, therefore, went into form and answered the appropriate questions and the credit disappeared, as our combined income was over $150,000.

Most newer computers do not come with a disc drive. In order to buy at a store, the product should be on a USB drive so you can download it into your computer.

Annoying
I've been using this product for a long time but it was the first year my confidence was shaken with the registration process failing (Which then took me hours to get figured out, most of which was just getting to the right Canadian support team). As well, things like asking me if I want to apply for Credits were you have to be over a certain age... You have my birth date in my profile, don't ask me if you know I don't qualify. All of the warnings and tips at the end of the easy file process were useless. So, overall, this year I was unimpressed.

If you have to file a tax return for a deceased person, save yourself the trouble and maybe see an accountant. This program is very confusing in that case. I have been using this program for many years and some of the changes made were not for the best. I was not impressed.

A bit confusing
I used the "downloadble" version of TurboTax. I found that TurboTax uses a lot of jargon that regular people don't understand - with no explanation. It imports information from CRA but then it is not clear what information has already been entered and what information was left out. The optimizers work OK I guess, but you have to trust that it knows what it's doing because it doesn't explain. It also has a lot of "warnings" and "tips" covering things that were either irrelevant to my situation or already addressed - which made me doubt that my return was completed correctly. It also suggested that I needed to pay to upgrade to the "premium" edition, even though my only "investment income" was bank account interest. In the end, the experience did not inspire confidence and I sent our returns to the CRA not being entirely confident that what I submitted was complete, or whether our returns were "optimized" to our advantage.
